Chapter 408: His Inner Thoughts

Seeing Qin Haochen’s reaction, Shi Anye quickly tried to amend his mistake, fearing he had angered him and jeopardized their relationship. "I’m sorry, I was just lost in thought; please don’t misunderstand."

Qin Haochen was not swayed by his clumsy excuse and coldly replied, "If there’s nothing else, you can leave."

Shu Yao caught the key point; Mr. Qin’s anger was directed at her husband and had nothing to do with her!

She immediately said to her husband, "Anye, I see Mr. Zhao from our collaboration over there; why don’t you go over and greet him?"

Shi Anye furrowed his brows, not quite grasping his wife’s hint.

What does Mr. Zhao need him to greet him personally for?

As he puzzled over this, he turned and met his wife’s warning gaze, and suddenly understood, "Alright, I’ll go take a look."

No matter who Mr. Zhao was, he had to go greet him now.

Watching her husband leave, Shu Yao’s smile became genuine as she turned to Mr. Qin, saying, "Mr. Qin, your daughter is truly beautiful. I heard Anye mention she’s going to kindergarten soon, so I prepared some information about it to send to your assistant."

Qin Haochen’s expression softened slightly; as Shu Yao had guessed, his anger was only toward Shi Anye’s earlier rudeness.

Upon hearing her mention kindergarten, Qin Haochen nodded lightly, "I received the materials, thank you, Mrs. Shi."

"You’re welcome; I’m happy to help your daughter," Shu Yao replied, turning her attention to the adorable little girl in the chair.

She bent down slightly, unable to resist the urge to gently pat the little girl’s head. "Ann is so cute; Auntie really likes you."

Qin Sui’an sensed the kindness radiating from her, her round eyes curving like crescent moons as she sweetly responded, "Ann likes Auntie too~"

Shu Yao’s fondness was evident; the little girl’s smile made her want to give her the best things in the world.

Thinking of this, she felt a bit regretful that she hadn’t prepared a gift for the little girl this time.

Shu Yao wanted to say more to the little girl when she suddenly felt a gentle tug on her hand.

Turning, she saw her son with his lips pressed together, while Ann stood quietly beside him.

Feigning ignorance, she asked, "What’s wrong?"

"Mom, I haven’t greeted little Ann yet." Shi Qinghan felt he had been standing there for a long time without managing to say a word to her.

Shu Yao suppressed a smile; she usually didn’t see her son take the initiative to greet anyone.

She stepped aside, making space for him.

Shi Qinghan looked at little Ann, locking eyes with her bright, clear gaze, feeling a bit shy. "Good evening, little Ann."

"Good evening, Brother Qinghan!" Qin Sui’an blinked her round eyes, her gaze falling on the white feather peeking out from his suit pocket.

Having a big white goose at home and often hugging and petting it, she said in her sweet voice, "Brother Qinghan, is that a goose feather in your pocket?"

"Yes." Shi Qinghan pressed his lips together, knowing little Ann would come to the banquet, so he brought the feather along.

Qin Sui’an opened her mouth, amazed, "This goose feather looks just like Ann’s big white goose’s feather!"

Shi Qinghan remained calm, explaining, "It’s your big white goose’s feather; it’s a thank-you gift from it."

Qin Sui’an’s eyes sparkled with curiosity, puzzled.

A thank-you gift? What did Brother Qinghan help the big white goose with? But lately, Brother Qinghan hadn’t visited their home; how could the big white goose have seen him?

Qin Sui’an’s heart raced with curiosity; she wanted to know the story but saw Brother Qinghan’s serious expression.

Hmm, maybe it’s better to quietly listen to what Brother Qinghan is thinking.

[Shi Qinghan: Little Ann is still so beautiful.]

Qin Sui’an paused, her round eyes blinking in surprise.

She originally wanted to use her Mind-Reading Skill to understand the feather’s origin, but instead, she heard him continuously complimenting her beauty in his mind.

Qin Sui’an’s cheeks turned rosy, and adhering to the principle of reciprocity, she quietly returned the compliment, "Brother Qinghan is also handsome."

[Shi Qinghan: She said I’m handsome!!!]

Shi Qinghan’s expression didn’t change as he calmly replied, "Thank you, little Ann."

Shu Yao looked down and noticed her son’s ears were bright red.

She couldn’t help but chuckle inwardly, gently squeezing his shoulder, "Alright, let’s not disturb little Ann while she’s eating; let’s go sit over there."

She didn’t want to be targeted by Mr. Qin like her husband.

Though Shi Qinghan was a bit reluctant to leave, he nodded, saying goodbye to little Ann and greeting her family before following his mother to an empty dining table.

Just before the banquet was about to start, Ou Yangfu finally received a message from Ye Rongyuan and hurried over.

After delivering the gift to the Bai family, he quickly scanned the banquet for the little girl’s adorable figure.

Soon, he spotted her and walked over quickly.

"Ann, what a coincidence! You’re here for the banquet too!" The smile on Ou Yangfu’s face was impossible to contain.

Qin Sui’an turned at the sound, her eyes curving into crescent moons as she called out in her sweet voice, "Hello, crazy uncle!"

Even with that peculiar title, Ou Yangfu smiled widely, "You look so beautiful today, Ann! That little dress suits you perfectly!"

"Thank you, crazy uncle~" Qin Sui’an beamed, holding up a small pudding she hadn’t eaten yet, raising her tiny hand to offer it to him, "Do you want to eat, crazy uncle?"

"Sure!" Ou Yangfu immediately knelt on one knee, bending slightly to accept the pudding from the little girl.

This pudding was the best he had ever tasted!

The banquet was worth it!

Qin Haochen watched from the side, expressionless, as he helped little one replace her utensils while addressing Ou Yangfu, "Are you attending the banquet on behalf of the Ou family?"

"Mr. Qin." Ou Yangfu quickly stood straight, smiling and nodding, "Yes, actually I wasn’t planning to come, but Rongyuan..."

"Cough." Ye Rongyuan shot him a sideways glance, his eyes filled with disapproval, "Why so much chatter? What are you standing there for? Are you waiting for Ann to feed you?"

Ou Yangfu promptly swallowed the rest of his sentence, noticing an empty seat next to Ye Rongyuan. He moved over and sat down, boasting, "I can’t believe Ann fed me!"

Ye Rongyuan’s expression was flat, and at that moment, he wanted to punch someone.

He hadn’t even had the chance to let Ann feed him herself! Yet here was Ou Yangfu, accidentally benefiting!

If he had known this would happen, he wouldn’t have been so soft-hearted to inform him that Ann was attending the banquet.
