Chapter 1269: Final Remarks

When typing the four words "Closing remarks", Lao Li's mood was indeed mixed.

From October 2023 to now, in nearly two years, this book has brought me so many changes.

First of all, Lao Li would like to sincerely thank everyone for their recognition of this book. It is your recognition that gave Lao Li the motivation to keep writing it.

Secondly, Lao Li also wants to say sorry to the friends who have persisted in reading this, because Lao Li himself knows that the ending of this book may not meet everyone's expectations.

Now that we have come to this, Lao Li would like to share with you his thoughts on this book over the past two years.

I believe many friends have seen that before Lao Li wrote this book, he had two completed books. Compared with this one, the styles of the other two books cannot be said to be very different, they are simply unrelated.

There are only two points when an author writes a book.

One is love.

The second is to make a living.

Judging from Lao Ma’s own experience and personality, these two points are indispensable.

Without passion, you can’t persevere.

If you can't make a living, you won't be able to spend a lot of time and energy on love.

Before this book, Lao Li had already earned some income through his writing, so he was able to make a living.

However, as his creative inspiration dried up, Lao Li entered a bottleneck period and was unable to make a breakthrough. He relied on his old work to write some templated things, and gradually lost his passion.

In the second half of 2023, Lao Li fell into a state of extreme anxiety. He couldn't say that he had lost his life goals, but he just felt that life was too boring.

Under this premise, I came up with an idea.

Get out of your comfort zone and try something new, even if it means giving up some decent income.

My idea at that time was very simple: just write what I want to write!

I believe that the world is so big, there will always be people who like the same style of things as me. What if I can catch this small group of people?

Of course, in the early stages of this book, I also went through a difficult adaptation process. For example, the words such as "beautiful eyes", "fragrant sweat", and "delicate body" that many people complained about in the early stages can be regarded as a kind of muscle memory left over from before.

Many friends may not know that the performance of this book was not ideal at the beginning, and it can even be said to have been a disastrous start.

There was a small episode in which Lao Li even wanted to give up the book at one point, but he still had nearly 40,000 words of manuscripts in hand, and he thought of posting them bit by bit and then finish it.

As mentioned before, Lao Li has a family and is under pressure, so he cannot generate energy for love for a long time. This willful attempt has already produced results, so there is no need to continue struggling. The tolerance space for adults is terribly low.

But the turning point happened on the last day when these manuscripts were submitted. This coincidence still makes me feel magical.

That day, many new readers came, and a word of encouragement from one of them was like a shot of 100% chicken blood to Lao Li.

It was from that day that Lao Li became excited again, and the popularity of this book grew day by day, gradually appearing in the vision of more people.

Gradually, Lao Li gained more and more, and he became more and more enthusiastic in writing. The happiest thing during that time, besides writing paragraphs that satisfied him, was reading everyone's comments.

If I find a plot interesting and it resonates with me, I will laugh along while sitting in front of the computer.

When seeing those tear-jerking plots, Lao Li would also have tears in his eyes.

I'm not afraid of being laughed at, but during the writing process, Lao Li cried so much that he couldn't even speak clearly.

The part that impressed me the most was the one where Huizi begged Dazhuang not to die. I cried so hard.

At that time, my wife asked me what was wrong with a confused look on her face. I could tell that she was very scared.

After the book began to stabilize, the pressure on me suddenly eased a lot, but my enthusiasm for the book remained unchanged. Even before going to bed every day, I would think about how to make the next plot more interesting.

until……

In the middle and late stages.

To be honest, I admit that this book went off track in the middle and late stages.

I was actually trying to find out what exactly happened and when it started, but the more I tried, the more problems arose. The more I tried to turn the plot back around, the more problems arose, until there were so many problems that I realized I couldn't solve them.

Readers who have followed this far should be able to feel that Lao Li is a person who pursues rigor, and such a situation is something Lao Li personally cannot accept.

That was the first time Lao Li had the idea of finishing the work, which was before the Chinese New Year this year.

But the situation at that time was that everyone's expectations for Shangcheng were so high. If I ended it hastily, I felt that I would be letting down the readers who had followed until here.

Therefore, Lao Li decided to complete the story of Shangcheng before ending it.

However, Lao Li still thought the problem was simple.

The more Lao Li wrote, the more dissatisfied he became, and the passion he had in the early stages of creation gradually dissipated in the process.

Every day, Lao Li is constantly struggling between finishing and writing more.

I actually saw everything everyone said in the fan group and in the messages they tagged me in. I didn’t reply not because I was aloof, but because I was really embarrassed to face them.

And now, no matter what kind of feelings this book brings to everyone, this story has indeed come to an end.

If there are any aspects that make you dissatisfied, I hope you will only remember the beauty it has left and the happiness and touching moments it has brought to you.

Of course, if there are friends who want to complain, Lao Li will also bear it.

Lao Li is a person with a strong subjective consciousness. It’s okay to criticize me for something I subjectively think is not well written. I admit it.

Finally, I would like to thank again all the friends who have persisted until now. The words "your support is the greatest encouragement to the author" are definitely not empty words, at least for Lao Li.

Through this book, Lao Li also found a new and feasible creative direction.

Next, Lao Li may need to take a short break.

The new book does have some ideas, but this time Lao Li doesn’t want to see another mid-to-late-stage collapse, so he needs to think through many issues in advance.

What can be revealed at present is that the new book will inevitably be presented in an unsystematic group portrait style. Based on this book, Lao Li will strengthen some things that he was not good at before, such as battle scenes and some settings of strength levels. This kind of thing is indeed Lao Li’s shortcoming, so it was a kind of opportunistic trick before.

Finally, thank you all again for your support and for being with me along the way.
