Chapter 18 I'm Not His Wife

Just as Shao Jingque was about to step into the courtyard, he suddenly stopped.

Something is wrong!

Through the open gate, she could take in the entire small yard at a glance. The yard looked ordinary, but there was no sign of life at all.

According to Sister Jin, her brother and his family of three lived here, but there wasn't even a clothesline in the yard, and there was neither firewood nor carbon balls under the wooden shed outside the kitchen. These places all hinted at something unusual...

Shao Jingque felt a strong sense of uneasiness in her heart, and her sixth sense of danger prevented her from entering the courtyard.

She then turned around and said to Sister Jin with a smile:

"Sister Jin, I'm sorry, I suddenly remembered that I have an appointment today and I'm almost late. I have to leave first. I'll come back with my friends another day to watch it properly."

Sister Jin's expression changed when she heard this, and her tone became a little impatient:

"Sister, we're already at the door. It won't delay anything if we go in and take a look before leaving, don't you think?"

The man quickly took over the conversation:

"Yes, my yard is in a good location and the rent is cheap. It might be sold out someday. If you book it today, we can still negotiate a lower rent!"

The more anxious these two people acted, the more uneasy Shao Jingque became.

She shook her head, looking embarrassed.

"Renting an apartment is a big deal. I didn't have enough time to look around carefully. Today wasn't a wasted trip. I've found a place now. I can take a day off and come back tomorrow morning."

Shao Jingque turned around and was about to go out, but was grabbed by Sister Jin:

"Don't go, sister! I took so much trouble to bring you here, and you leave without even taking a look. How can that be justified?!"

As soon as she took action, she dragged Shao Jingque into the yard, and did not forget to wink at the man.

Seeing this, the man immediately grabbed Shao Jingque's other arm, saying as he pulled:

"That's right, it won't hurt to take a look, it only takes a few minutes!"

"What are you doing?! Let me go!"

Shao Jingque was shocked and angry as he was being dragged and pulled by the two men. Are these two people trying to kidnap someone in broad daylight?!

The so-called "Sister Jin" and her "brother" pretended not to hear, and tried to pull Shao Jingque into the yard, one dragging and the other pushing.

With Shao Jingque's strength, she was no match for these two people. Seeing that the situation was not good, she opened her mouth and shouted loudly:

"Fire—fire—everybody run—"

The fat woman was startled, then reached out to cover her mouth:

"What are you yelling about?! If you make any more noise, I'll punish you!"

At this time, the man stopped pretending and raised his hand to slap Shao Jingque in the face:

"Fuck you, if you keep yelling, I'll make you scream so hard you won't be able to stop!"

Shao Jingque ignored the burning pain on her face and continued shouting at the top of her lungs. By the time the fat woman covered her mouth with her hands, many people had already run out of the originally empty alley.

The crowd looked around in panic:

"Where's the fire? Where's the fire?"

As a result, there was no sign of fire, not even a trace of smoke. Instead, three people were seen huddled together in front of the courtyard gate.

Seeing everyone's eyes gathered around her, the fat woman agreed guiltily:

"I'm sorry, everyone. There's no fire. It's my sister-in-law who's a little bit crazy. She's yelling and yelling like crazy. Everyone, please go back. I'm sorry for causing you all trouble...ah!"

Unexpectedly, before she could finish her words, she let out a sharp howl.

It turned out that Shao Jingque took advantage of her distraction and bit her hand hard, causing her to bleed profusely.

Taking advantage of the gap when the fat woman loosened her grip due to pain, Shao Jingque struggled and shouted loudly:

"I'm not her sister-in-law. I don't know these two people at all. They want to kidnap me. Save me!"

She had just deliberately shouted "fire" in order to call out as many people as possible.

If she had shouted robbery at the beginning, others might have been even more scared and afraid to go out. After all, self-preservation is human nature, and only a very few people would risk their own safety to save others. At the moment, she could only try to gain the greatest possibility of being rescued.

When they heard that someone was being kidnapped, everyone's faces suddenly changed.

However, due to the large number of people, many people gradually gathered around and asked one after another:

"What on earth is going on?"

"Is this true? How dare you kidnap someone in broad daylight? Are there any laws?"

"Let go of that girl!"

Shao Jingque saw this and a glimmer of hope flashed in his eyes, but he didn't expect that the fat woman who called herself Sister Jin suddenly burst into tears:

"It's unfair! Everyone, ignore her. She's just mentally ill and talking nonsense. Just now she shouted "fire". Can you see where the fire is?"

"My poor brother, I finally scraped together enough money to get you a wife, but you're not only mentally ill, but you're also a fickle, unfaithful woman who ran off with some random guy!"

"We finally found her. We can't let her get away this time! Everyone, please don't believe her nonsense!"

The fat woman's performance was so heartfelt that she even squeezed out several tears. It was obvious that she was used to doing this kind of thing, which was why she could perform this scene so easily in front of so many people.

The man also held Shao Jingque tightly and said:

"Wife, please stop struggling. Our child is still young and can't be without a mother. Just come back with me and live a good life, okay?"

Shao Jingque immediately retorted loudly:

"You're talking nonsense! Who is your wife?! I don't even know you!"

But at this time, the attitude of the onlookers had obviously changed.

One of the skinny middle-aged women looked Shao Jingque up and down, her brows furrowed, her eyes revealing undisguised contempt:

"Tsk tsk, he looks like he's restless. If you bring him back, you have to keep an eye on him. If he gets out, he'll be a nuisance!"

A middle-aged man also frowned and advised:

"So that's what's going on, little wife, stop making a fuss. How can a mother just run away and leave her child alone? Hurry back with your husband, and your life will get better and better!"

At this time, the two human traffickers no longer pulled Shao Jingque into the yard. The fat woman continued to thank the onlookers, while the man pulled her arm and walked out of the crowd.

Shao Jingque struggled desperately, but no matter how she explained, the onlookers no longer believed her and no one was willing to lend a helping hand.

If she was really dragged to an uninhabited place by these two human traffickers, she would be doomed!

Shao Jingque became furious and while the man wasn't paying attention, he bent down, picked up a broken brick on the ground and lifted it up.

The onlookers were shocked, thinking she was crazy and wanted to hit someone, so they all hid backwards. Even the man who had been holding her tightly subconsciously raised his hands to block his head.

The next second, Shao Jingque used all his strength, lifted the broken brick without hesitation, and smashed it hard against the glass window of the nearest house!
