One of the short middle-aged men spoke first, his tone stiff:
"Are you Shao Jingque?"
Shao Jingque frowned and quickly looked at the two men, a young man in his twenties and a middle-aged man in his thirties. They were dressed in ordinary clothes and their identities could not be seen.
She quickly glanced in the direction of the gate, and seeing Lao Liu standing in front of the window, she felt a little relieved and answered cautiously:
"Who are you? I don't know you."
The middle-aged man was obviously a little impatient. It was always others who answered their questions, and no one asked him questions right away. In addition, the investigation had not made any progress during this period, so he was inevitably upset and his tone became even worse.
"I asked you a question and you answered it. Can't you understand such a simple sentence?! Are you Shao Jingque?"
His fierce tone made Shao Jingque nervous, and a terrible idea suddenly appeared in his mind -
Could it be that Qu Jingyun, unable to use words, resorted to force, and since she couldn't fire her, she simply had someone kidnap her?!
"I'm not!"
After answering, Shao Jingque hurriedly turned around and left. She was worried that running would stimulate the criminals, so she could only suppress her accelerating heartbeat and walked quickly towards the gate.
The "tall gangster" patted the "short gangster" on the shoulder helplessly and said with a wry smile:
"Brother Liu, didn't I tell you? It's best to reveal your identity before questioning. That way, the public will be more willing to cooperate. Look how scared that girl is!"
Unfortunately, Liu Jun did not agree with his statement:
"There aren't so many rules when it comes to police investigations. If they really run into a criminal, they'll be gone by the time you've introduced yourself!"
"When we go out to investigate a case, we need to be aggressive and imposing. That way, we can gain the upper hand when dealing with criminals from the very beginning, instilling fear in them so that they can get the answers they want."
"If you're so elegant and polite, I'd be surprised if those bad guys would tell the truth!"
Gao Huanyu curled his lips and didn't argue with him any more. The case-handling habits that these veteran policemen had developed over the years couldn't be changed by him talking in a day or two.
He trotted over to Shao Jingque and said with a smile:
"Don't be afraid, young lady. We are from the Dongcheng Police Station. My name is Gao Huanyu, and the person who just spoke to you was my colleague Liu Jun."
"We've already gone to the art troupe and spoken to your deputy director, Qu. The guards at the gate have all the records. We were waiting for you at the door just now. You can rest assured, we are not bad people."
In the time it took to say these two sentences, Shao Jingque had already walked to the window of the gate. He slowed down his pace when he heard what Gao Huanyu said.
Are they police?
No wonder I didn’t see Qu Jingyun all afternoon. It turns out that he was called in for questioning by the police.
Old Liu just happened to come out of the gate and greeted the young man first:
"Gao Gongan, haven't you left yet?"
The two police officers arrived at noon. After registering, they went to the office building to find Deputy Captain Qu. They were delayed for most of the day before coming out. They had already left, so why are they back now?
Gao Huanyu smiled and nodded towards Lao Liu:
"Let me borrow your place to chat for a while and get to know you better."
Old Liu was perceptive and quickly responded:
"There's a bench at the door, you two can sit down and chat!"
Seeing that Lao Liu really knew him, Shao Jingque finally felt relieved and turned around and said:
"So you are the police, what do you want from me?"
Liu Jun also followed at this moment. When he heard Shao Jingque asking a question, he frowned and was about to speak, but Gao Huanyu took the lead:
"Well, we were visiting the guests who attended the weddings of Xiefangyuan and Qisheng that day. We mainly wanted to learn from you about what happened at the wedding."
Shao Jingque frowned slightly. She had thought that there was new progress in Qiao Yulan's case, but she didn't expect that the police came to ask about what happened at Yue Feiying's wedding.
Seeing her puzzled expression, Gao Huanyu didn't keep her in suspense and went straight to the point:
"Did you see the photos that were spread out from the wedding that day?"
“I see.”
Shao Jingque nodded. It turned out that he was asking about the photos.
However, neither Qi Yue nor his family reported the case. They both wanted to make a big deal out of a small matter. Why would the police intervene?
Gao Huanyu noticed that she looked quite defensive and continued:
"A guest mentioned that you came forward and said that the officer in the photo was your partner. Is that true?"
"Yes, I did. The officer in the photo is indeed my boyfriend. So, it was me who asked Yue Feiying to help deliver the letter, so those photos were taken. I explained it in front of everyone at the wedding. Any other questions?"
Shao Jingque couldn't guess who the two police officers were targeting, so he subconsciously protected Yue Feiying first.
Gao Huanyu added meaningfully:
"It seems like you and Yue Feiying have a good relationship... Where's your boyfriend? Why didn't he go to the wedding with you?"
Shao Jingque just told the truth:
"He was going to go, but there was a sudden flood in Henan Province, and he received a mission to go to Henan Province to fight the flood and provide disaster relief. He hasn't returned yet."
When Shao Jingque was answering questions, Gao Huanyu kept looking into her eyes intently. He saw that no matter whether she mentioned the photo or her boyfriend, her expression was as calm as ever, without a trace of panic.
He nodded and continued to ask:
"Did you see who distributed the photos at the scene?"
Shao Jingque shook her head. She indeed didn't see the person who sent the photo. It was Rong Yongsi who picked up the photo from the ground and showed it to her.
However, she didn't intend to reveal Rong Yongsi's identity.
His identity is a photographer, so the police might regard him as a suspect. However, the photo studio business is so busy now, he doesn't have time to be taken back to the police station for questioning.
Liu Jun, who was waiting on the side, had long lost his patience. Everyone in this art troupe was as cunning as a human being and could act very well.
Deputy Captain Qu just now was clueless about everything I asked. She wanted to deny that Qi Shengzhi was her son and completely distance herself from him. After a few questions, he said he had a headache and insisted on going to the hospital.
In his opinion, this behavior is a guilty conscience. These suspects should be arrested and taken back to the police station, interrogated for three days and three nights without food or water, and all the dirty deeds will be revealed!
"Alright, let's go! I already told you that you won't get anything out of asking like this!"
There was no progress in the case every day, and he was worried about how to write the field report. Instead of wasting time here doing useless work, he might as well go back to the police station and pick up the pen!
He was about to pull Gao Huanyu away, but Gao Huanyu remained unmoved. Instead, he took out a photo from a brown paper bag and handed it to Shao Jingque:
"Have you ever seen anyone wearing this bracelet?"
The green bracelet in the photo looked particularly dazzling in the sunlight. Shao Jingque narrowed his eyes slightly and carefully identified it.
Don't tell me, this bracelet looks a little familiar...
