"Don't move! This snake is poisonous!"
Song Yangyu recognized at a glance that the yellow and black snake on the bed was a highly venomous golden ring snake. Although it was not as venomous as the most poisonous snake, the Bungarus multicinctus, it should not be underestimated.
But this kind of snake mostly lives in the wild. How could such a highly venomous snake appear in the military district guesthouse located in the urban area?
The current critical situation did not give him time to think about this problem, because the disturbed golden ring snake had already taken an attacking posture, its thin red tongue moving rapidly in and out, the cold scales on the snake's body reflected a gloomy light in the dim light, and its two bottomless eyes were staring at Shao Jingque, who was frightened and panicked.
Seeing this, Song Yangyu immediately lowered his voice and said to Shao Jingque:
"Listen to me, you must stay calm first. The distance between you and the snake is too close. Don't make any movements. Any slight movement may scare it and attack you."
Shao Jingque has been afraid of snakes since he was a child. He even didn't dare to approach the door of the snake house in the zoo that was closed to the public through glass. This was the first time in his life that he faced a live venomous snake.
Fortunately, she did not go to bed directly after washing up, but habitually lifted the quilt. God knows when she saw a large snake with bright patterns curled up in the middle of the bed, she seemed to be frightened out of her body in an instant, and she froze there, unable to move. It seemed as if something was choking her throat, and she wanted to scream but couldn't.
After the man and the snake were in a stalemate for several seconds, the golden ring snake suddenly raised its head, stuck out its tongue, and made a creepy "hissing" sound. Shao Jingque was like being freed from the spell. He screamed subconsciously and climbed to the desk farthest from the snake in a panic.
She wanted to escape from the room immediately, but the aisle leading to the door was right next to the bed, so she didn't dare to go any closer in that direction.
Just as the golden krait was about to attack her, there was a sudden knock on the door and a young man's inquiring voice came in. The slight vibration of the door panel instantly attracted the attention of the golden krait. It turned its head to look towards the door. At this moment, Shao Jingque seized the opportunity and shouted for help outside the door.
Now hearing what Song Yangyu said to her, Shao Jingque wanted to nod subconsciously, but suddenly remembered that he said not to make any movements, so she just blinked at him a few times.
Seeing that she understood what he meant, Song Yangyu felt relieved and then boldly reached out to the drawer of the bedside table.
Due to his professional habit, he had already checked every corner of the room when he entered the room in the afternoon. He knew that there was a flashlight in the bedside table of the guesthouse in case of sudden power outage, and it was just right to use it to deal with this photophobic bungarus.
Judging from the current position of the golden ring snake, it must have been hiding under the quilt. The girl's action of lifting the quilt caused the light in the room to instantly dazzle its eyes, making it temporarily unable to move, giving her the opportunity to escape to the desk.
But after all, the light in the room was not too bright. After a brief period of distraction, the golden ring snake had obviously adapted to the light in the room, and then it took an attacking posture towards the object that it felt was dangerous.
The golden ring snake also reacted very quickly. It turned its head suddenly and straightened up towards Song Yangyu who suddenly approached the bedside table. Its scarlet tongue moved rapidly, and the hissing sound continued quickly, as if it was very dissatisfied with his bold behavior.
Seeing that Song Yangyu ignored its warning and was still getting closer to him, the golden ring snake suddenly arched its body and was about to bite his wrist which was in the drawer of the bedside table.
In this critical moment, Shao Jingque could no longer hold back and cried out:
"careful!"
In a flash, Song Yangyu took the flashlight from the drawer, pressed the switch and shone it directly in the direction of the golden ring snake. A beam of dazzling light instantly enveloped the golden ring snake that had already been launched into the air. Although it could not change its momentum of flying towards it, when it hit Song Yangyu's arm, it had no strength left and instead collapsed on the side of the bed like a hemp rope, curled up into a ball, motionless.
Song Yangyu's hands did not stop moving. He immediately pulled out a box from the drawer and covered it directly, tightly covering the golden ring snake that was stunned by the strong light.
He compacted the drawer box, turned to Shao Jingque and said:
"Okay, it's safe, come down!"
Shao Jingque finally got down from the desk in shock, his legs still weak as he couldn't help but thank her with a trembling voice:
"Thank you, thank you..."
The action just now was indeed a bit thrilling. A thin layer of sweat appeared on Song Yangyu's forehead. He smiled calmly at Shao Jingque:
"You're welcome. I'm glad you're okay. Do you have any sturdy pockets in your room?"
Shao Jingque nodded quickly and took out the woven bag in the closet that contained clothes:
"Is this okay?"
Seeing Song Yangyu nod, she quickly handed him the woven bag and asked with a frown:
"Do you need my help?"
She clearly couldn't see the snake, but just by getting a little closer to the drawer covering the snake, her palms began to sweat.
But this stranger risked his life to save her, and she couldn't just stand by and watch. She could only try her best to suppress the fear in her heart that wanted to stay as far away as possible, and asked with gritted teeth.
Song Yangyu saw that the sweat on her forehead and temples had wet her soft hair, and her beautiful eyebrows were twisted into a knot, but she was still trembling as she asked him if she needed help. Immediately, his favorability towards her increased a little.
He reached out to take the woven bag, motioned her to retreat towards the door, and said comfortingly:
"No, please stand further away. It will be easier for me to operate alone."
He wasn't lying. After all, he could tell at a glance that she was truly afraid of snakes. If he forced her to help, and if she failed to cooperate in catching the snake, wouldn't both of them be in greater danger of being bitten by a venomous snake?
Shao Jingque nodded with relief, but when he passed by the bed, he still plucked up the courage to grab the flashlight that had fallen beside him. He ran quickly to the door and stopped, letting the strong light of the flashlight shine on the edge of the drawer box that Song Yangyu was holding down.
There was a hint of surprise in Song Yangyu's eyes. He didn't expect her to be so careful. After seeing him stun the poisonous snake with strong light, she thought of using strong light to suppress the snake's ability to move, to protect him from catching the snake into the bag.
Thinking about how she reacted immediately after he told her not to move and just blinked at him, he felt that she was extremely smart.
Song Yangyu carefully placed the woven bag over the drawer box, then slightly loosened one side, leaving a small gap to stuff the edge of the bag in. He then pressed the drawer box and slowly pushed it toward the inside of the pocket until he saw a ball of something fall to the bottom of the pocket. Then he immediately tightened the seal.
Seeing him catch the snake and put it into the bag with a series of neat and clean movements, Shao Jingque's heart finally settled down.
