Chapter 101 Aoki's Feelings

Three women make a play, and four women together make it even more lively and joyful.

After dinner, the three girls helped Aunt Pei clean up the kitchen. Li Sisi and Shen Baiying coaxed Aunt Pei into Li Nian's room.

Li Nian was preparing the facial mask she would use later. Because they couldn't store it, the facial masks they usually used were freshly mixed.

Li Sisi came in with a basin of water.

Shen Baiying leaned over and saw the white water in the small basin, and asked curiously, "What kind of water is this?"

"Rice water." Li Sisi put the wooden basin on the basin stand and explained, "Wash your face with rice water every night. It can clean the dirt on the skin and moisturize it."

Aunt Pei's curiosity was piqued, and she couldn't help but ask, "Can we use flour water instead? Rice is too expensive, and we don't eat it much on a regular basis. We can't afford to buy rice just to wash our faces."

Li Sisi thought about it and nodded in response: "That's fine."

She pulled Shen Baiying to wash her face.

Aunt Pei hesitated for a while, but was coaxed by Li Sisi and Shen Baiying and washed her face as well.

Li Nian also finished making the facial mask: "This is the facial mask we developed ourselves."

She took out a porcelain bottle, opened the lid, and a fresh rose fragrance immediately spread out.

She scraped a large piece of light red agar with her fingers and came to Shen Baiying: "First, apply agar thickly all over your face. You need a larger amount of agar for better results. Don't be reluctant."

After applying it, she took out the homemade mask cloth and said, "Next, put this mask on your face until the incense burns out, then you can take it off."

Li Nian teaches Shen Baiying, and Li Sisi teaches Aunt Pei.

After finishing, Aunt Pei and Shen Baiying looked at each other's faces covered with white cotton and linen cloth and couldn't help laughing.

“Ouch, ouch!”

"It fell off, the mask fell off!"

"Don't laugh!" Li Sisi hurriedly whispered to stop them, and stepped forward to help them adjust the masks on their faces, reminding them, "Laughing while applying a mask will easily cause wrinkles."

When they heard this, they stopped laughing and just nodded slightly.

Li Nian took out a tower incense stick and lit it, and the faint fragrance instantly spread throughout the house.

This caused Shen Baiying and Aunt Pei to take two deep breaths.

Li Sisi felt bored with the four of them sitting around doing nothing, so she pulled out a book from under her pillow. "Since we're free anyway, how about I read from the picture book to help me pass the time?"

Shen Baiying's eyes suddenly lit up, and she made two "hmm" sounds in her throat.

Li Sisi held the book, sat in the only empty space at the square table, and began to read.

Aunt Pei looked at Li Sisi, who was beautiful and reading a book with a clear voice, and the joy in her eyes became stronger and stronger.

It would be great if such a good girl were my daughter-in-law!

She looked at Li Nian again, a trace of regret flashing across her eyes. If this girl had not been pregnant, and the two sisters had just married her two sons, then she would have no regrets in her life!

When the last incense stick was burned out, Li Nian and Li Sisi worked together to remove the facial masks from the two people.

"Rub the remaining agar on your face and let it be absorbed by the skin," Li Nian said in a gentle voice.

The two of them did as they were told and waited until the agar was completely absorbed by the skin.

Shen Baiying touched her face, her eyes shining as she exclaimed in surprise: "Wow! So tender! So smooth!"

She moved closer to Aunt Pei and exclaimed in surprise, "Auntie, you've become much whiter too!"

Aunt Pei touched her face, grinning from ear to ear: "Oh, it's a lot tenderer." Then she said with embarrassment, "Such a good thing is wasted on an old woman like me."

"How can it be a waste!" Li Sisi heard this, smiled and went to get a mirror, facing Aunt Pei's face.

Aunt Pei's eyes were filled with shock: "What, what is this? It's so clear?"

The transparent mirror reflected her face clearly. Aunt Pei had never seen herself so clearly in her life. She hid back in fear, but could not help but glance into the mirror.

Shen Baiying was so shocked that her voice trembled: "Is this the Glazed Realm?"

"Yes!" The two best friends looked at each other, not understanding why they were so shocked?

The Xiao Mansion has many glass products. When they attend banquets, many young ladies from official families will carry a small glass mirror with them, so this thing should not be a rare item, right?

"Is there something wrong with this mirror?" Li Sisi asked puzzledly.

Shen Baiying's eyes suddenly changed when she looked at the two of them. Before, she thought that the two sisters must be from wealthy families, but now it seems that they are more than just rich.

She said in a daze, "Glass mirrors are very expensive. Even if my brother is a centurion, his annual salary may not be enough to buy a mirror like yours."

The two best friends looked at each other in astonishment. How could such an ordinary mirror be so valuable?

Li Nian thought of the colored glassware that could be seen everywhere in the Xiao Mansion and asked, "Are colored glasswares all expensive?"

Shen Baiying nodded with a puzzled look: "Yes, it's very expensive! Moreover, our border is constantly at war, and there are not many wealthy families, so those merchants rarely transport such precious items here to sell. In the entire Dong'an City, only the Treasure Pavilion sells glass products."

Li Nian hadn't expected the disparity between the rich and poor in the capital to be so huge! These were the only things she and Sisi had encountered since crossing over, and the people around them hadn't acted as if these things were precious.

So I use it casually in daily life.

I didn’t expect that these are extremely precious things in ordinary families.

She felt the mirror in her hand was a little hot. They would easily be suspected if they showed off like this, especially since they didn't have any identification documents.

After thinking for a moment, she explained, "So that's how it is. This glass mirror was my dowry. At that time, my mother said it wasn't very valuable. Now it seems that my mother must have lied to me."
