Chapter 2: Mistakenly Recognizing My Husband and Embarrassing Life

Shen Qiqi looked through the window carefully at the two men who had just entered the yard.

They were wearing the same army green uniforms, had tall and straight figures, and their backs were exactly the same, as if they were carved from the same mold.

But if you look closely, you can still see some clues.

One has a slightly darker complexion, sharp facial features, and angular features like a sculpture, exuding an unignorable sharpness from head to toe; the other has a fair complexion, with a somewhat gentle look between her eyebrows and eyes, and a temperament as gentle as jade.

"Which one... is mine?" Shen Qiqi muttered to herself, her heart beating like a drum.

She stared at the two people intently, afraid of missing any details.

At this moment, Mrs. Lu's voice came again, with a subtle urging: "Qiqi, don't just stand there like an idiot. Go and cook. Qing'er and the others must be hungry."

Shen Qiqi panicked. Was this old lady trying to embarrass her on purpose?

She didn't know how to cook, let alone use a wood-burning stove.

She thought of a clever idea and shouted, "Husband! I don't know how to make a fire!"

Her shout stunned everyone in the yard.

The two men who had been walking steadily just now stopped at the same time as if someone had pressed the pause button.

The fair-skinned man being stared at by Shen Qiqi had an incredible look in his eyes.

He first looked at the darker-skinned man beside him, then turned his head to look at Xu Jing behind Shen Qiqi. Finally, he stretched out his finger and pointed at his nose, with a hint of uncertainty in his voice: "Are you... calling me?"

Shen Qiqi's face instantly turned the color of liver.

She finally realized what a stupid mistake she had made!

This is really embarrassing!

She smiled awkwardly, trying to hide her embarrassment: "Um... no, um... grandma asked me to cook, but I don't know how to make a fire, um... can you... help me?" As she spoke, she looked at the man cautiously, wishing she could find a crack in the ground to crawl into.

The yard was completely silent, and everyone's expressions were frozen in time: shock, surprise, confusion...

Various complex emotions are intertwined.

The air seemed to freeze, and only the sound of Shen Qiqi's heartbeat, like a deer's, could be clearly heard.

The fair-skinned man looked at her, the doubt in his eyes did not dissipate, as if he was trying to find out what she was up to. Just as he was about to ask, he saw that Mrs. Lu suddenly trembled all over, as if she was electrocuted by something.

Old Mrs. Lu shuddered all over, as if she was stung by something, and goose bumps covered the ground.

She rubbed her arms and muttered, "This girl, she's acting so delicately, I don't know who she's doing it for." In stark contrast to Mrs. Lu's reaction, Xu Jing on the side looked calm, as if she had long been accustomed to Shen Qiqi's behavior.

The fair-skinned man, after a brief moment of daze, picked up the rabbit in his hand and walked straight into the kitchen.

He skillfully lit a fire, and the firewood crackled, reflecting his angular face.

Soon, a blazing fire started in the stove, and the warm light dispelled the coldness in the house.

After the man finished all this, he turned and left the kitchen without saying anything else.

Shen Qiqi took a deep breath and tried to look calm.

She straightened her back, pretended nothing had happened, and smiled at Mrs. Lu.

There were only three women left in the room, and the atmosphere was a little awkward.

Mrs. Lu glanced at Shen Qiqi with a hint of dissatisfaction in her tone: "You are a vixen! How can you let a man enter the kitchen?"

Shen Qiqi was not to be outdone and retorted: "Grandma, what era is this? Men and women are equal. How can there be any reason why men can't enter the kitchen? Besides, I don't know how to make a fire. I can't let everyone go hungry, right?"

“You…” Mrs. Lu was speechless for a moment after being contradicted by Shen Qiqi, and her face turned ashen with anger.

She pointed at Shen Qiqi, her fingers trembling, and she couldn't speak for a long time.

Shen Qiqi no longer paid attention to her, touched her stomach, and said pitifully: "Grandma, I'm hungry."

When Mrs. Lu heard this, her heart softened immediately.

She felt sorry for her son and grandson, and quickly took out some ingredients from the cabinet and handed them to Shen Qiqi: "Hurry up and cook, don't let Qing'er and the others starve."

"Got it, grandma." Shen Qiqi took the ingredients and responded obediently.

Mrs. Lu turned to look at Xu Jing again and ordered, "Jingjing, go help Qiqi. She can't handle it alone."

Xu Jing nodded reluctantly, but a barely perceptible cunning glint flashed in her eyes.

Mrs. Lu looked at the two of them, and a trace of doubt arose in her heart...

After Mrs. Lu left, Xu Jing came to Shen Qiqi and asked in a low voice, “Do you really want to cook?”

As soon as Mrs. Lu left, Xu Jing immediately came to Shen Qiqi and asked mysteriously, "Are you really going to cook?"

"Of course I have to! If I don't cook, I'll just eat the northwest wind." Shen Qiqi said, pushing Xu Jing in front of the stove, "Come, Miss, I'll have to trouble you to light the fire first."

Xu Jing was at a loss for words: "I light the fire? Are you sure? I've never done this before."

"Oh, my lady, just think of this as an experience of life. Besides, I'm doing this so that I can have food to eat. I can't starve to death here, right?" Shen Qiqi blinked and looked at Xu Jing innocently.

Xu Jing sighed helplessly, picked up the matches, and started to make a fire clumsily.
