The early morning sun shone on the dirt road. Shen Qiqi took a deep breath. The air was mixed with the smell of soil and livestock.
She knew that this was the "only way" to the breeding farm in Sunlin Village.
Along the way, she kept encouraging herself in her heart, "Isn't he just a farmer? I must take him down today!"
From a distance, she saw the farm surrounded by wooden fences. It was larger than she had imagined. She could faintly hear the cries of piglets, as if they were providing background music for today's "negotiations."
Shen Qiqi's heartbeat accelerated unconsciously, as if beating a drum.
She rubbed her hands, adjusted her breathing, and walked over.
When I walked to the door, I saw a man in coarse clothes squatting on the ground cleaning something. He was the farmer from Sunlin Village.
Shen Qiqi calmed herself down, forced out what she thought was the friendliest smile, and said in a clear voice, "Hello, I'm Shen Qiqi from Lujia Village. I'd like to ask you some questions about breeding."
When the farmer from Sunlin Village heard the sound, he slowly raised his head. There was a hint of vigilance on his weather-beaten face, as if he was looking at some "unknown creature".
He looked Shen Qiqi up and down and said in a cold tone: "Farming? You can't learn the farming technology in our village. You should go back and use your own traditional methods."
Shen Qiqi was choked by his words and thought to herself, "Wow, this guy is quite aloof."
She took a deep breath and tried to keep smiling. "You misunderstood. I'm not here to steal your advice. It's just that our village's breeding has encountered some difficulties. I wanted to learn from you and maybe we can exchange ideas."
She lowered her posture, spoke in a sincere tone, and there was a hint of determination in her eyes.
She knew that if she wanted to pry something useful out of such a person, she had to be patient enough.
The farmer from Sun's neighboring village narrowed his eyes, his face still showing impatience. "Exchange? What can we exchange? With your small-scale operation, what experience can I learn from? Don't waste my time."
Shen Qiqi was not discouraged and continued, "I know you must have a lot of advanced experience, I just want to..." Before she finished her words, she was interrupted by a farmer from Sun's neighboring village.
"I said, I'm busy!" He stood up, dusted off his hands, turned around and was about to leave, leaving Shen Qiqi with an indifferent back.
Shen Qiqi watched him leave, a sense of unwillingness to admit defeat surged in her heart. She turned her eyes and suddenly said, "Wait, what if I say I can exchange it for something else?"
The farmer from Sunlin Village stopped in his tracks. He turned around and stared at Shen Qiqi with a suspicious look, a hint of an ambiguous smile on his lips. "Other things? What do you have that can interest me?" Shen Qiqi smiled mysteriously and took out a few exquisite gadgets from the cloth bag she carried with her - a lifelike cloth tiger, an exquisitely embroidered purse, and some uniquely shaped straw animals.
"I made all of these. The supply and marketing cooperatives in the city are all vying for them. How about it? Am I qualified enough to exchange some experience with you?" Shen Qiqi's tone was a little boastful, as if what she was holding in her hands was not a small gadget, but a rare treasure.
Sun, a farmer from a neighboring village, suddenly had his eyes light up. He walked forward, picked up a cloth tiger and looked at it carefully. The workmanship and craftsmanship were beyond the reach of ordinary people.
"Are you really willing to exchange these for something?" There was a hint of disbelief in his tone. These things could be exchanged for a lot of money if they were taken to the city.
Shen Qiqi said sincerely, "Be willing to give up, only by giving can you gain! Compared to money, I want to improve the breeding in our village." She blinked, and an atmosphere of expectation rose around her, shining like a little sun.
The farmer from Sunlin Village hesitated for a moment, but finally nodded and said, "Okay, since you are so sincere, I will exchange some experiences with you." He cleared his throat and began to talk about his breeding experience, from the construction of the pig house to the ratio of feed, and he taught him everything he knew.
Shen Qiqi took out a small notebook and took notes carefully, occasionally asking some questions, and the breeder from Sun's neighboring village patiently answered them.
The two were at loggerheads at the beginning, but later they had a pleasant conversation and the atmosphere gradually became harmonious.
After returning home, Shen Qiqi excitedly told Lu Qing about the experience she had learned from the farmers in Sunlin Village. Lu Qing was also happy for her, and both of them had joyful smiles on their faces.
"Qiqi, you are so amazing!" Lu Qing praised sincerely, his eyes full of pampering.
Shen Qiqi raised her chin proudly, "Of course, don't you see who I am!" She closed her notebook and suddenly remembered something, "Oh right, let's go to the farm tool store in town tomorrow..."
Lu Qing held Shen Qiqi's hand tightly, and the two walked side by side on the way to town.
The sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting mottled shadows on them, as if they were coated with a layer of warm halo.
Lu Qing's eyes were full of love. From time to time, he turned his head to look at Shen Qiqi, with a faint smile on the corner of his mouth.
Shen Qiqi felt the warmth of his palm, and a warm current surged in her heart, and a feeling of happiness spread in her chest.
"Don't worry, I'm here, I'm sure I'll find the right one." Lu Qing's voice was low and gentle, like a reassurance, instantly calming Shen Qiqi's slightly uneasy mood.
The two men walked into the farm tool store and were greeted by a strong smell of rust.
Boss Wu was sitting behind the counter, holding a tattered account book in his hand. When he saw them, he just raised his eyelids slightly without even saying hello.
