Shen Qiqi followed Xiao Li and jogged all the way to the warehouse, her heart feeling like it was about to jump out of her chest.
The door of the warehouse was half open. Under the dim light, the air was filled with a damp and moldy smell that made people frown.
She pushed the door open hastily, and the scene before her made her gasp.
The surface of the piles of wood was covered with a layer of green mold, and some of the cement bags had hardened into lumps, while others were even broken and scattered all over the ground.
Shen Qiqi took a deep breath and tried her best to calm her inner panic.
She grabbed the warehouse manager and demanded, "What the hell is going on? How come you didn't notice?"
The warehouse manager lowered his head, his face pale, and his voice trembled: "Boss Shen...Boss Shen, I don't know either. This batch of goods was intact when it was put into the warehouse a few days ago. It might be...it might be because of the recent humid weather..."
"The weather is humid? Even if you didn't notice, you should have checked it earlier! Now that something has gone wrong, how are you going to explain it?" Shen Qiqi's voice involuntarily rose a few decibels, anger and anxiety intertwined in her heart.
"I...I will try my best..." The warehouse manager lowered his head guiltily, speechless.
Shen Qiqi didn't say anything more. She turned around, picked up the phone, and dialed the supplier's number.
A man's voice came from the other end of the phone, sounding lazy and even a little impatient: "Hello, who is this?"
"I'm Shen Qiqi. There's something wrong with the batch of goods you sent!" Shen Qiqi's voice was firm and powerful, leaving no room for ambiguity.
"Oh, Boss Shen, we carefully selected this batch of goods, how could there be a problem? Could it be that you didn't store them properly?" The other party's voice became tough, with a hint of sarcasm in his tone.
Shen Qiqi frowned, the anger in her heart almost bursting out of her chest: "The conditions in our warehouse have always been very good. You must be responsible for the quality of this batch of goods! If you don't solve it, I will report you to the Industry and Commerce Bureau!"
The other party was speechless, but his attitude remained firm: "Okay, we'll send someone over to check it out, but if it's really your fault, don't blame us for being ruthless."
"I'll wait for you!" Shen Qiqi hung up the phone, feeling even more uneasy.
She turned to look at the pile of rotten materials in the warehouse, feeling mixed emotions.
The project has reached a critical moment. If this batch of raw materials cannot be resolved in time, the entire project will face huge risks.
Shen Qiqi took a deep breath and decided to go to the town's timber market in person, hoping to find a suitable replacement.
She said to Xiao Li, "Wait here, I'll be back soon."
After saying that, she strode out of the warehouse with only one thought in her mind - no matter what, she couldn't let the project come to a standstill.
Shen Qiqi rushed to the town's timber market without stopping. The scorching sun made her skin hot.
The noisy voices, the sounds of sawing wood, and bargaining mixed together and made her feel dizzy.
She asked from store to store, but the results were not satisfactory.
Either the price is too high, the quality is substandard, or the quantity is insufficient.
"This is really 'misfortunes never come singly'!" Shen Qiqi couldn't help but complain in a low voice. Anxiety wrapped around her like a vine, making it almost impossible for her to breathe.
Finding new suppliers means increased costs and delays in construction, which will undoubtedly make the already tight project even more difficult.
Back in the village, Shen Qiqi told Lu Qing about the situation.
Lu Qing was lying on the bed, his face pale, but his eyes were full of worry.
He looked at Shen Qiqi distressedly, wanting to say something but unable to.
He knew that at this moment, any comfort would be pale and powerless.
Shen Qiqi frowned and paced back and forth like an ant on a hot pot.
Suddenly, she had a flash of inspiration and a bold idea emerged in her mind.
She picked up the phone and dialed the supplier's number again.
"Hey, Boss Shen, have you thought it through? Is it because you stored it improperly?" The other party's voice still contained a hint of sarcasm.
"I've made up my mind." Shen Qiqi's tone was calm, yet it carried an unquestionable firmness. "I'm not asking you for compensation, nor do I plan to change suppliers. But you must sell this batch of goods to me at a low price. At the same time, the next batch of goods must guarantee quality, and the price must also be favorable."
There was a silence on the other end of the phone. Obviously, the other party was shocked by Shen Qiqi's proposal.
"You...what did you say?" His tone was full of confusion and hesitation.
"You heard right." Shen Qiqi said firmly, "This is my bottom line. If you disagree, we'll see you in court."
The air in the room seemed to freeze. Shen Qiqi held the phone tightly, sweat oozing from her palms.
Lu Qing looked at her.
"This..." The other party's voice was a little hesitant, "I need to think about it..."
Shen Qiqi didn't say anything, but just quietly waited for the other party's reply, with an imperceptible arc at the corner of her mouth.
A gnashing voice came from the other end of the phone: "Okay! I promise you! But you'd better remember what you said today!" Shen Qiqi's mouth corners slightly raised, and she gently uttered a word: "Okay."
After hanging up the phone, Shen Qiqi breathed a sigh of relief, her tense nerves finally relaxing.
She turned to look at Lu Qing with a bright smile on her face: "Done!" Lu Qing looked at her, his eyes full of relief and love.
He knew that this woman was more powerful than he had imagined.
The news that the crisis was over spread throughout the construction site as fast as wings.
The originally gloomy atmosphere was swept away in an instant, replaced by jubilation.
