Shen Qiqi sneered and blocked Aunt Chen's way. "Aunt Chen, what are you talking about? Are you saying bad things about our team? Did our team dig up your ancestral graves or your vegetable plots?"
Aunt Chen was stunned by Shen Qiqi's sudden questioning, and then she stiffened her neck and yelled, "I'm doing this for everyone's good! This disaster is a punishment from heaven. If you don't listen to me, you will regret it later!"
"Punishment?" Shen Qiqi crossed her arms, her eyes sharp. "Then tell me, why does God punish us? Is it because we work hard and live positively?"
The surrounding villagers held their breath and watched this "confrontation" nervously.
The air was filled with the smell of gunpowder, as if a spark could ignite the whole scene.
"It's because you don't fear the gods!" Aunt Chen pointed to the sky and said enthusiastically, "Look, the earth is shaking. What else can this be but punishment?"
Shen Qiqi took a deep breath and tried hard to suppress the urge to roll her eyes.
This old lady really won't cry until she sees the coffin.
She turned around and took the stack of information from Lu Qing, saying loudly, "Aunt Chen, superstition is a bad thing! This is the information I found in town. It clearly explains the causes of earthquakes, and it has nothing to do with gods!"
Shen Qiqi handed the information to Aunt Chen and pointed to the diagram above and explained: "Look, this is crustal movement..."
Aunt Chen pushed Shen Qiqi's hand away and curled her lips in disdain: "What crust or no crust? I think you have been bewitched by evil and crooked ways! You young people just don't listen to the advice of the elderly, and you are suffering right now!"
In the crowd, Brother Lu also stood up and echoed, "Yes, Qiqi, I think what Aunt Chen said makes some sense. This disaster came about strangely, maybe it really is..."
Shen Qiqi suddenly turned her head to look at Brother Lu, her eyes full of disappointment.
I didn't expect that even Brother Lu would...
She took a deep breath, suppressed her anger, and was about to speak when she heard someone in the crowd mutter, "I think... Aunt Chen is right..."
The air seemed to freeze, and Shen Qiqi felt a sense of powerlessness rising from the bottom of her heart, like an invisible rope, tightly strangling her throat.
Those wavering eyes were like cold knives, cutting into her heart again and again.
She didn't expect that after trying so hard to lead everyone out of the predicament, she was tripped up by this ignorant superstitious idea at the most critical moment.
"Hey, are you guys stupid?" Shen Qiqi took a deep breath, trying to make her voice sound more resolute. "What era is this? Are you still into feudal superstitions? Are you cosplaying here? Are you asking for God's punishment? I think your brains are stuck in the door!" Her words, with a touch of modern sharpness, instantly pierced through the strange fog.
But the eyes of those villagers who were bewitched by Aunt Chen and Brother Lu were still hesitant.
Some even murmured quietly: "But, but this disaster came too suddenly, maybe..."
Looking at these brainwashed villagers, Shen Qiqi felt like she was punching cotton with her fist, with nowhere to use her strength.
This feeling is like being stuck in a game. You are almost through it, but you are stuck because of a bug. It is really frustrating.
"No, we have to find some external help!" Shen Qiqi's eyes lit up, and she immediately thought of the respected elders in the village.
They speak and act with authority on a daily basis, and perhaps they can wake up these villagers who have been brainwashed by superstition.
She walked quickly to a few elderly people and told them the whole story.
After hearing this, the old people frowned and immediately understood the seriousness of the matter.
"That won't do! We can't believe in superstition!" Grandpa Wang, the oldest man in the village, said firmly, leaning on his cane. "We have to believe in science! This natural disaster is a natural phenomenon, not the wrath of God!"
Several old men began to persuade the villagers one by one. They used simple language and combined it with examples from life to explain the causes of the earthquake in an easy-to-understand way.
Those villagers who were originally hesitant gradually began to believe in science, and their eyes gradually became clear.
Aunt Chen and Brother Lu's faces turned pale in an instant, and they felt as uncomfortable as if they had eaten a fly.
They didn't expect that after trying so hard to sow discord, they would end up being isolated and helpless.
Looking at the villagers' gradually sobering eyes, Shen Qiqi felt a long-lost sense of accomplishment.
This feeling is like finally completing a game. It's so refreshing that you want to shout to the sky.
She smiled slightly, her eyes swept over everyone, and finally fixed on Lu Qing. Lu Qing felt her gaze and held her hand tightly. His palm was warm and strong.
Shen Qiqi only felt her heart move, and a strange feeling surged in her heart. The love in his eyes was like the warm sun in winter, instantly melting the fatigue in her heart.
She gave him a grateful look, and that said it all.
This wave of dog food was so unexpected that the surrounding villagers all smiled at each other, saying, "These two are so sweet!" and "Exactly, it's like they're in an idol drama!"
"Ahem," Shen Qiqi coughed twice, interrupting the sudden sugar-eating scene.
"Well, everyone, thank you for your hard work! Everyone must be exhausted from all the disaster relief work these days, right?"
The villagers nodded one after another, their faces filled with joy at surviving the disaster.
"As the saying goes, those who survive a great disaster will surely be blessed in the future!" Shen Qiqi said loudly, "The most important thing for us now is to rebuild our home! However, before that, I would like to hold a thanksgiving party to thank everyone for their mutual help and solidarity during this disaster!"
