In the breeze, Shen Qiqi pulled Lu Qing, and the two walked towards the village archives room with firm steps.
This adobe house looks dilapidated, with much of the paint on the door panels falling off, as if telling of the passage of time.
She took a deep breath and pushed open the creaking wooden door with a hint of excitement for adventure.
With a "click", the door opened.
The expected scene filled with ancient books and exuding a historical atmosphere did not appear.
Instead, there was a dim, messy space with documents and account books piled randomly on the table, as if it had just been through a tornado.
Dust was flying in the air, and there was a musty smell in the air that was unpleasant.
A man in an old blue uniform was sitting in the corner, his legs crossed, humming a tune to the opera music playing on the radio.
The man was none other than Archivist Li, the manager of the archives room. When he saw Shen Qiqi come in, he didn't even bother to lift his eyelids and continued to enjoy his "slacking off" time.
"Ahem!" Shen Qiqi cleared her throat, trying to get his attention.
Archivist Li turned his head impatiently and glanced at Shen Qiqi, with a hint of disdain in his tone: "What are you doing? If you have something to say, just say it quickly, don't disturb me from listening to the opera."
Shen Qiqi suppressed her unhappiness and pointed to the messy pile of information on the table: "I'm here to check the village records, these..." She looked around, thought for a moment, and used a more euphemistic statement, "These materials seem a bit... messy?"
Archivist Li scoffed, as if he had just heard some ridiculous joke. "Messy? How can it be called messy? I painstakingly compiled this. Besides, what the hell is a village chronicle? I've never heard of it. Did you come to the wrong place?"
"Organize?" Shen Qiqi's mouth twitched. She quickly walked to the table and picked up a booklet with obviously missing pages and a torn cover. "You call this organizing? Archivist Li, you're really messing around. The missing information is almost like a sieve! Are you opening a blind box for the archives? You wouldn't even dare to play blind boxes like this!"
Archivist Li curled his lips and said nonchalantly, "A few missing pages are nothing. It won't affect the use. Besides, I'm in charge of a lot of information. How can I remember everything? Take it or leave it. If you don't want it, forget it!"
Shen Qiqi was so angry that her chest hurt. She forced herself to calm down, took a deep breath, and tried not to argue with such a bad person: "Archiver Li, this information is very important to me. Can you cooperate?"
Archivist Li rolled his eyes, still looking nonchalant. "Cooperate? Why should I? It doesn't benefit me. Besides, what do you little girl know? If you have nothing to do, just go away and stop getting in my way."
"You!" Shen Qiqi clenched her fists tightly. She felt like she had encountered a setback in her career.
Just when she was about to explode, Lu Qing gently held her hand and signaled her with his eyes to calm down.
"Hey, young comrade, don't be angry!" An old voice came. Uncle Wang walked into the archive room tremblingly, leaning on his cane. "I, an old man, also want to do something for the village. Maybe I can help."
Shen Qiqi looked at the pile of information in front of her that looked like it had been hit by a tornado. Her temples throbbed and she felt her blood pressure soar.
This is not an archive room, it's a "large-scale disaster scene"!
She took a deep breath, trying to calm her rage that was about to explode.
This archivist Li is really the leader of the "slacking world". No one else can be so bad as to be so bad.
She turned to look at Lu Qing, her face full of "baby is feeling sad", like a wronged kitten.
Lu Qing sighed softly, patted her shoulder gently, and said gently: "Don't worry, take your time, there will always be a way."
Shen Qiqi complained crazily in her heart: What's the solution?
This is such a mess, what can I do?
Even though she thought so in her heart, she still forced herself to calm down.
She rolled up her sleeves and prepared to tidy it up herself.
She is not the kind of soft persimmon who retreats when faced with difficulties. This little scene can't scare her!
She began to look through the booklets on the table, hoping to find some useful clues.
Dust flew in the air, choking her and making her cough.
She coughed and rummaged around with her hands, like a scavenger searching through a garbage dump.
Suddenly, her fingertips touched something hard.
She pulled it out with force, and found it was an old booklet forgotten in the corner, with a few blurry words printed on the cover - "Draft of Village History".
Shen Qiqi's heart skipped a beat, and a feeling of surprise instantly surged in her heart.
She quickly opened the booklet, which recorded some of the early history and figures of the village. Although it was a little incomplete, it was like a timely help to her.
She raised her head with joy, and a smile finally broke out on her originally gloomy face, like the moon appearing after the clouds have parted.
"Lu Qing! Look! I found it!" She danced with joy like a child who had discovered a treasure.
Lu Qing looked at the joy in her eyes and eyebrows, and the corners of his mouth rose slightly.
When Archivist Li in the corner saw that Shen Qiqi had actually found an old booklet, his eyes widened in disbelief, as if he had seen an alien.
"This... this... how is it possible?" Archivist Li muttered to himself, as if he had seen a ghost. He pointed at the booklet, his mouth wide open enough to fit an egg, as if he couldn't believe his eyes.
Shen Qiqi ignored Archivist Li's surprise. She held the booklet carefully, with a sly smile on her face, and opened the first page.
