Chapter 407: Formula Research: Quality Improvement

"Got it!" Shen Qiqi shouted excitedly, with a gleam in her eyes, as if she had discovered a new world.

She couldn't wait to try out the new formula of handmade soap.

Following a previous successful recipe, she only slightly adjusted the proportions of a few herbs, thinking the finished product would be more perfect, but the result was quite different.

The handmade soap she produced was dark in color and had a slightly pungent smell, which did not achieve the effect she expected.

"What the hell is this?" Shen Qiqi widened her eyes in disbelief, feeling as uncomfortable as if she had swallowed a fly.

The atmosphere in the kitchen froze instantly. The previously excited molecules disappeared without a trace like a punctured balloon, replaced by a dull atmosphere.

Lu Qing looked at Shen Qiqi's puzzled expression, walked forward distressedly, and gently patted her shoulder, "What's wrong? Did you encounter any problems?"

Shen Qiqi shook her head in frustration, "I thought it would be better if I just adjusted the proportions a little, but I didn't expect..." She sighed, picked up a piece of failed handmade soap, put it under her nose and smelled it. A strange smell made her frown.

"Oh my god, this smells like stinky socks that have been left out for a few days."

"Don't be discouraged, take your time." Lu Qing comforted him, "Maybe a different way of thinking will help."

Shen Qiqi took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down.

She began to try adding new natural ingredients, such as wild chrysanthemums and honeysuckle picked from the mountains.

She believes that the gifts of nature will help her find the best formula.

However, the opposite happened.

Every attempt ended in failure.

When wild chrysanthemum is added, the foam of the handmade soap becomes thin, like soapy water; when honeysuckle is added, the texture of the handmade soap becomes rough, like scrub.

The atmosphere in the kitchen became increasingly oppressive. Shen Qiqi's face was filled with anxiety, like an ant on a hot pan, running around in a panic.

Lu Qing watched from the side, unable to help in any way except comforting him, and could only worry.

"Qiqi, don't worry, take your time, we will find a way."

"But..." Shen Qiqi hesitated to speak. She looked at the bottles and jars on the table, her mind in a mess.

Suddenly, she had a flash of inspiration and thought of something.

She picked up an inconspicuous little jar and smiled mysteriously, "Maybe, this can be tried..." She carefully poured the contents of the jar into the soap liquid that was being boiled...

"It's done!" Shen Qiqi shouted excitedly.

The handmade soap has a light fragrance, a fine texture and rich foam.

She couldn't wait to wash her hands with the freshly made handmade soap, and her skin felt smooth and refreshed.

"It worked! It really worked this time!" Lu Qing smiled with relief.

However, the next day...

“Qiqi, your face…” Lu Qing pointed at Shen Qiqi’s face, with a hint of worry in his tone.

Shen Qiqi looked at herself in the mirror again and again. The red rashes on her face looked like little strawberries, making her itchy and irritated.

"Oh no! What's going on?" She wanted to cry but had no tears. She was ecstatic yesterday, but today she had turned into a "strawberry face".

The feeling of loss enveloped her like a dark cloud, and a tense atmosphere filled her heart, like a taut string that could break at any time.

Lu Qing looked at Shen Qiqi's depressed look and felt distressed.

He stroked her hair gently and said softly, "Don't worry, it's just an allergy. It will be fine in a few days."

"But...this handmade soap..." Shen Qiqi's voice fell, like a deflated ball.

She thought she had found the perfect formula, but she didn't expect such a problem to arise.

"It's okay, we'll think of a solution." Lu Qing comforted him, "We can always find a solution."

Unexpectedly, Shen Qiqi did not continue to try new formulas, but took out the previously failed samples one by one, observing and studying them carefully.

Surprise spread across Lu Qing's face like ripples, and an unexpected atmosphere filled the kitchen. He didn't expect Shen Qiqi to choose this method.

Shen Qiqi looked focused, as if she had entered another world.

She sorted the failed samples into different categories and carefully recorded the ingredients and proportions of each formula, as well as the final results.

The kitchen was so quiet that only the scratching sound of the pen tip rubbing against the paper could be heard. As time passed, Shen Qiqi's brows furrowed more and more.

"Qiqi, what are you doing..." Lu Qing couldn't help but ask.

Shen Qiqi didn't answer. She picked up the two failed samples and put them together for comparison.

One is a sample with thin foam after adding wild chrysanthemum, and the other is a sample with a rough texture after adding honeysuckle.

She applied both samples to her hands, carefully feeling their texture and feel.

Suddenly, she seemed to have thought of something, her eyes lit up, and the corners of her mouth rose slightly.

"Maybe..." She murmured to herself, picked up a small spoon on the table, and mixed the two samples together...

“Brother Qing, help me get some mugwort…” Shen Qiqi mixed the two samples together, stirred them gently, and watched them blend in the bowl, as if a wonderful chemical reaction was quietly happening.

She held her breath and carefully applied the mixture on the back of her hand. With every rub and application, a strange feeling spread across her skin.

It has a delicate touch, rich foam, and exudes a light fragrance, like the fragrance of spring flowers intertwined with the freshness of the valley, which is intoxicating.

"It's done!" Shen Qiqi shouted excitedly, with a gleam of victory in her eyes.

She picked up the handmade soap with the new formula and looked at it carefully. It had a uniform texture and bright color, as if it were a work of art.
