Chapter 434: Yizhu Arrives at the Garden: A Turning Point for the Garden

Shen Qiqi squatted beside the vegetable patch, her brows twisted into a knot, as if someone owed her eight million.

Those little green sprouts that were once full of vitality are now wilted and drooping, like eggplants hit by frost, which makes her feel heartbroken.

She gently fiddled with the yellowing leaves with her fingertips, a sense of foreboding washing over her. "What should I do? Is this a case of acclimatization?"

Seeing her frown, Lu Qing's heart tightened. He walked to Shen Qiqi's side and squatted down as well. Looking at the sickly seedlings, his tone was full of helplessness. "Alas, I told you that this land was not good, but you refused to listen. Is it okay now?" Although he said this, he still patted Shen Qiqi's shoulder gently, giving her silent comfort.

There seemed to be a layer of dark clouds hanging over the two of them, and the air became heavy.

At this moment, a voice suddenly sounded, breaking the oppressive atmosphere: "What are you two doing there sighing? Is such a small matter worth frowning over?"

Shen Qiqi and Lu Qing looked up and saw that it was Mrs. Lu.

She just put her hands on her hips, looking like "I'm knowledgeable", but her face had an expression of enjoying the show.

"Mom, do you have a solution?" Shen Qiqi was a little surprised. She thought the old lady would continue to sneer at her, but she didn't expect her to come over on her own initiative.

Old Mrs. Lu cleared her throat, looking inscrutable. "Hmph, what do you young people know? When it comes to farming, you still have to listen to the old people!" She said mysteriously, "Back in the day, I was a skilled farmer. Even though these fields may not be good, I can definitely bring them back to life with some old-fashioned methods!"

Mrs. Lu's words successfully aroused Shen Qiqi's curiosity. She quickly asked, "What old method? Tell me quickly!"

"Ahem," Old Mrs. Lu cleared her throat. "In our time, we used wood ash as fertilizer. Wood ash is a good thing. It can provide nutrients to crops and kill insects!" As she spoke, a proud look appeared on her face, as if she had mastered some unique secret recipe.

"Really?" Shen Qiqi asked in surprise. She didn't expect the old lady to be so knowledgeable. Now, the savior of the vegetable garden has arrived!

"Of course it's true!" Old Madam Lu rolled her eyes at her. "How could I lie to you? Hurry up and get some wood ash!"

Upon hearing this, Shen Qiqi immediately jumped up, pulled Lu Qing and ran out, "Let's go, let's quickly prepare the wood ash!"

The two men ran away in a hurry, leaving Mrs. Lu standing there alone. She looked at their backs, with the corners of her mouth slightly raised, revealing a barely perceptible smile.

She murmured to herself, "Hmph, let me show you, old ginger is still the wisest!"

After a while, the two men came back with a large pile of wood ash.

Shen Qiqi carefully spread the wood ash on the vegetable garden. Every movement was filled with hope and expectation. She felt as if she had injected new strength into the vegetable garden.

"Is that all?" Lu Qing asked doubtfully as he looked at the vegetable field sprinkled with wood ash.

"Of course! Just wait and see the miracle!" Shen Qiqi clapped her hands and said confidently.

Lu Qing looked at her energetic appearance and couldn't help but smile. He thought silently in his heart: I hope this time it will be successful...

"Mom, look, the wood ash is ready." Shen Qiqi walked up to the old lady with an excited look on her face.

Mrs. Lu looked her up and down and said in a meaningful tone, "Well, let's wait and see..."

Despite the new fertilization method of wood ash, the weather was not good and it suddenly became dry.

Shen Qiqi stood in the vegetable garden, staring intently at the seedlings that had just been sprinkled with wood ash. She saw that the small green sprouts, which were already a little wilted, were now struggling in the thirsty soil, and their leaves curled up weakly, as if silently calling for help.

She was anxious and paced back and forth in the vegetable garden, raising small pieces of dust from the ground under her feet, and every step was filled with anxiety.

The rustling sound of footsteps was like a hammer hitting the family's hearts, and a depressing atmosphere spread in the family.

Lu Qing looked at Shen Qiqi's anxious look and felt very uncomfortable.

He gritted his teeth and took his son to look for water around the village.

The father and son shuttled through every corner of the village, never missing any place where there might be water.

Suddenly, the son shouted excitedly: "Dad, look!" Lu Qing looked in the direction of his son's finger and found a forgotten small spring. The clear water sparkled with hope in the sunlight.

Lu Qing shouted excitedly, the sound echoing in the quiet village, and excitement rose in his heart.

When Shen Qiqi heard the cry, it was like being injected with a shot of cardiac stimulant, her heart was filled with hope, and a cheerful atmosphere instantly spread throughout the family.

She ran towards the direction of the sound, and the gloom on her face disappeared.

Lu Qing stood by the spring, his eyes sparkling. He held his son's hand tightly and said to Shen Qiqi who was running over, "Qiqi, we're saved." Shen Qiqi was about to speak when Lu Qing's eyes suddenly froze, as if he had thought of something.

Lu Qing picked up two buckets, carried the big one himself and put the small one into his son's hands, "Come on, let's go give the vegetable garden an 'infusion'!" Although the son was young, he was very energetic. He followed Lu Qing closely, carrying the small bucket, his little face rosy like a ripe apple.

On the way, Lu Qing touched his son's head from time to time, his eyes full of satisfaction: "Good boy, that's great!" His son grinned, revealing two little fangs, and was as happy as a little sparrow.
