Chapter 174: Island Tour, Distress

Before she could finish her words, the copper bell in the corner of the terrace suddenly rang, startling her so much that she subconsciously clenched her sleeves - the sound inexplicably overlapped with Fangcao's uncontrolled crying during the interrogation.

Mu Ruxue followed her gaze and casually pulled down the copper bell hanging on the porch pillar and threw it aside: "Don't take it to heart. Although Xiao Jingrui is a wooden man who doesn't understand romance, he is not stupid."

She leaned in closer, tapping Yun Ruoxi's pale cheek with her fingertips. "But you, you didn't even blink during the interrogation just now, but now you look like a frost-bitten eggplant."

Yun Ruoxi's heart was touched, and the tips of her ears turned red. "Who is frost-bitten? It's just that I got a headache from listening to her nonsense."

She turned around and sat on the stone bench, looking at the swaying lanterns outside the terrace. Suddenly, she chuckled. "Come to think of it, she reminded me that the story in this book might not be that simple."

Mu Ruxue raised an eyebrow, fished out a piece of osmanthus cake from her sleeve, broke it in half, and stuffed the larger piece into Yun Ruoxi's hand: "No matter how simple or complicated it is, let's just stay on Peach Blossom Island, farm, and fish. Isn't it better to be free and easy?"

She took a bite of the pastry, and the crumbs stuck to the corner of her lips. "After a while, I'll teach you how to weave a fish basket, and then we'll go to the beach to catch crabs."

Yun Ruoxi bit the osmanthus cake, the sweet fragrance spread on the tip of her tongue, and the irritability in her heart also eased a little.

The next morning, just as the sky was getting light, Yun Ruoxi and Mu Ruxue were already ready to go.

The two men were wearing light expedition clothes and carrying backpacks, their faces full of anticipation.

"I must relax well this time." Mu Ruxue stretched.

Yun Ruoxi smiled and nodded, taking out the silver-gray helicopter from the space.

The sound of machinery running broke the tranquility of the early morning. The two brothers Xiao Jingrui and Xiao Jingxuan walked out of the villa, carrying several boxes full of supplies.

"Are you all ready?" Xiao Jingxuan took the key handed to him by Yun Ruoxi, and the sunlight cast fine shadows on his angular face.

"Yes, I brought enough food and water."

Xiao Jingrui checked the instrument panel with practiced movements. "The route is set. We haven't explored the western sea area much yet."

The helicopter slowly took off. Yun Ruoxi and Mu Ruxue sat in the back seat, looking through the window at the gradually shrinking land.

The azure sea surface shimmered with fine golden light in the morning light, like a huge gem.

After about two hours of flying, Mu Ruxue suddenly pointed ahead and exclaimed, "Look! Is there an island over there?"

Jamel Xiao adjusted his direction and squinted his eyes: "There is no mark on the map... Is it a new island?"

As the distance got closer, an island covered with lush vegetation gradually became clear.

There was a faint flickering of strange light in the center of the island, which was obviously different from the color of the surrounding sea water.

"Do you want to go down and take a look?" Xiao Jingrui turned around and asked.

Yun Ruoxi and Mu Ruxue looked at each other, excitement glittering in their eyes.

"Of course!" they said in unison.

The helicopter landed in an open space on the edge of the island.

The four of them got off the plane, and the humid sea breeze mixed with the unfamiliar fragrance of flowers blew in their faces.

The sand underfoot was so white that it was almost blinding in the sunlight.

"This place... is a little strange." Mu Ruxue squatted down and picked up a handful of sand with her fingers. "It's too white, and the grains are so uniform."

Jamel Xiao took out the detector from his backpack, his brows gradually furrowed. "The magnetic field readings are abnormal...and the air composition is not right either."

Yun Ruoxi looked around and found that most of the plants on the island were species she had never seen before.

Some vines were an unnatural blue-green, with leaves having a metallic sheen at the edges.

"Let's go to the center and check." She pointed in the direction where she had seen the reflection in the sky before.

The four of them walked along a trail that looked like it was formed naturally.

As we go deeper, the surrounding vegetation becomes denser and denser, and the air is filled with a faint sweet fragrance.

Xiao Jingrui walked in front, using a machete to chop away the vines blocking the way.

"Wait!" Mu Ruxue suddenly grabbed him, "Listen..."

A faint humming sound came from the ground, and the ground beneath my feet seemed to tremble rhythmically.

Yun Ruoxi squatted down, placed her palms on the ground, and felt a strange pulsation.

"Like... the sound of some kind of machine running."

Jamel Xiao adjusted the detector, but the screen began to flicker. "The interference is too strong."

After walking for about twenty minutes, the vegetation in front of us suddenly became sparse.

A circular open space appeared in front of everyone, and in the center stood a stone building, shaped like an ancient altar.

"This is..." Yun Ruoxi held her breath.

The altar is made of a dark grey stone, its surface engraved with intricate patterns and symbols.

The most amazing thing was that there was a fist-sized blue crystal suspended on top of the altar, which was the light source they saw in the air.

Mu Ruxue involuntarily walked forward, but was pulled back by Xiao Jingrui: "Be careful!"

He pointed to the land around the altar—it was covered with fine cracks, and a faint blue light could be seen flowing underneath.

Yun Ruoxi took out a metal rod from the space and gently threw it towards the altar.

The metal rod suddenly stopped about one meter away from the altar, suspended in mid-air, and then slowly rotated.

"The magnetic field is extremely strong." Xiao Jingxuan recorded the data. "These symbols... I seem to have seen them somewhere."

Mu Ruxue took out her phone and took a photo: "It looks like some kind of ancient writing, but it's not exactly like..."

At this moment, the blue crystal suddenly flashed.

The four of them felt dizzy at the same time, and a low buzzing sounded in their ears.
