Chapter 140 Should I Be Your Sister-in-Law?

The heavy snow that fell yesterday has finally stopped.

As dawn broke, a faint golden hue appeared on the horizon.

Jiang Luoluo passed through the gate of Cining Palace and walked along the bluestone path, the cool morning breeze brushing against her temples.

She looked up at the warm sun in the east and realized that she hadn't slept a wink all night.

She rubbed her slightly sore fingers and was about to quicken her pace when suddenly, a familiar figure in black came into view at the end of her line of sight.

Xie Yizhi stood by the unmelted bluestone path after the snow, his hands behind his back, a gentle smile in his eyes, quietly gazing at her.

Jiang Luoluo was taken aback for a moment, then revealed a bright smile, and like a light little bird, she ran happily towards him.

Xie Yizhi slightly opened his arms and caught her steadily.

She rushed into his arms, carrying a hint of snow and wind. Xie Yizhi tightened his arms around her, as if trying to meld her into his very bones and feel her real presence.

At that moment, Jiang Luoluo suddenly felt incredibly warm, and all her anxiety, unease, and tension seemed to melt away in this embrace.

Ever since she transmigrated to this world, she has been on edge.

From scheming to fake her parents' deaths to facing her critical grandmother after returning to the capital; from breaking off her engagement with Gu Boyuan to winning over Jiang Muyan and seeing through Yao Shiyu and Lu Anrou's schemes... every step she took was fraught with danger.

She seemed to have never had such a peaceful and warm moment before.

She thought that perhaps she wasn't entirely without support; at least when she was nearly tricked by Lu Anrou, the first person she thought of was Xie Yizhi.

Upon learning that he was in danger in the main hall, she rushed out without hesitation.

My heart had already begun to flutter.

But she was completely unaware of it, and even subconsciously suppressed that slight flutter of emotion, unwilling to let it grow.

But how can one control love and affection?

The more you try to suppress it, the more it grows and spreads unseen, eventually breaking through the soil and leaving you nowhere to escape.

Jiang Luoluo slowly closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

Perhaps she really should re-examine herself and re-plan her future path.

And among the people she wanted to protect, Xie Yizhi had unknowingly been added.

While I was pondering, suddenly

With a "glug" sound!

Her stomach rumbled at an inopportune moment.

Jiang Luoluo: "..."

Xie Yizhi chuckled softly, his voice carrying the deep, magnetic quality unique to the early morning, and gently sounded above her head: "Hungry? What would you like to eat today? Order whatever you like, it's on me."

Jiang Luoluo lifted her head from his embrace and smiled slyly: "Alright, then I won't be polite."

Xie Yizhi gently stroked the tip of her nose, his tone indulgent: "The entire Prince Yi's Mansion, and even myself, belong to Luo Luo, so of course you don't need to be polite."

Jiang Luoluo blushed and stubbornly said, "Who, who said I wanted you..."

Xie Yizhi leaned down slightly, his tone gentle yet earnest: "It's alright, I'll wait for you, until you want me."

Jiang Luoluo glared at him and ran away quietly.

Xie Yizhi watched with a smile, following behind her at a leisurely pace.

He thought to himself that he would definitely ask her about the story of the "house on fire" later in the carriage...

However, before she could even leave the palace gate, two figures rushed up and surrounded Jiang Luoluo from the left and right.

"Lolo, are you alright? That heartless bastard Lu Anrou, she's really..."

Xiao Yunwei held Jiang Luoluo's hand tightly, her face full of worry.

Jiang Luoluo quickly reassured her, "It's alright, Sister Yunwei. Prince Yi arrived just in time, and I wasn't hurt at all."

Jiang Gan also looked anxious: "Luo Luo, did Empress Dowager Du make things difficult for you?"

Jiang Luoluo smiled and said in a light tone, "Brother, don't worry. If Empress Dowager Du really wants to do something to me, do you think the Prince would agree to it, since he loves me so much?"

She spoke so naturally, as if she were joking, yet it subtly revealed a sense of certainty.

Xie Yizhi stood aside, listening to her praise him without hesitation, feeling an indescribable sense of satisfaction and comfort.

Jiang Gan struck up a conversation with Xie Yizhi, while Xiao Yunwei had no intention of returning Jiang Luoluo to Xie Yizhi and instead pulled her into the carriage.

Xie Yizhi: "..."

He had just taken a step to follow when Jiang Gan grabbed him: "Your Highness, Yunwei hasn't seen Luoluo in a long time. Let the two sisters have a chat. Please make an exception?"

Xie Yizhi was amused by the dried ginger, and said with a helpless yet affectionate tone, "Brother, what are you saying? I'm happy for Luo Luo that you have such caring family members."

Jiang coughed lightly, and the two of them boarded another carriage one after the other.

Jiang Gan also had something to say to Xie Yizhi. He looked deeply at Xie Yizhi and carefully asked, "Your Highness, have you told Luo Luo about Zhichen's mother?"

Xie Yizhi paused slightly in his teacup, his gaze deep and unfathomable. "Not yet."

Jiang Gan sighed and said earnestly, "Your Highness, in my opinion, you should tell Luo Luo as soon as possible."

She's a reasonable person; she'll definitely understand you, so no one will use this against you.

He paused, a cold glint in his eyes, "Dingdang has told me every single word that Lu Anrou said at Liuyun Pavilion."

Thinking of Lu Anrou's sarcastic and pointed words, Jiang Gan clenched his fists, his anger almost uncontrollable, wishing he could rush over and beat her up immediately.

Seeing this, Xie Yizhi poured a cup of tea and handed it to Jiang Gan, saying in a calm tone, "Brother is right. To be honest, I had the same idea."

He gently stroked the teacup with his fingertips, his gaze slightly lowered, and his tone unusually gentle, "Now that Luo Luo and I are husband and wife, we shouldn't hide anything from each other. She has the right to know this."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Gan nodded slowly, finally feeling a little relieved of his worries.

Soon after, he would be setting off for Jiangnan with Xiao Yunwei. He was initially worried about leaving Luoluo in the capital, but now it seemed that Xie Yizhi truly cared about her, which put him at ease.

Inside the carriage, laughter and chatter filled the air.

Xiao Yunwei and Jiang Luoluo sat intimately together, chatting and laughing, with bursts of light laughter occasionally emanating from the carriage.

As Xie Yizhi rode beside Jiang Luoluo, listening to her clear and cheerful laughter, his originally calm expression softened, and the corners of his mouth turned up slightly.

Inside the carriage, Jiang Luoluo looked at Xiao Yunwei with a smile and suddenly asked, "Sister Yunwei, how is my older brother?"

Xiao Yun was taken aback, not expecting the topic to suddenly turn to him.

She lowered her head and thought about it seriously for a moment, then smiled and said softly, "He can make money, he takes care of his family, he's a good young man."

Jiang Luoluo blinked, a sly glint in her eyes, and leaned closer to her, lowering her voice mysteriously, "Then, Sister Yunwei, how about considering becoming my sister-in-law?"

Before she could finish speaking, Xiao Yunwei's cheeks flushed crimson, and she playfully pushed her away, saying, "Luo Luo, you..."
