Chapter 19 Are you afraid to be alone?

Jiang Luoluo took a leisurely sip of tea and then lazily glanced at Su Cuirong. "Grandmother, what you're saying is ridiculous. Yao Shiyu has hands and feet, she's not a three-year-old child. She chose to ride a horse herself."

Jiang Luoluo raised her chin, pointed at Yao Shiyu, and chuckled, "If you don't believe me, just ask your dear granddaughter. She's riding a horse with someone else's fiancé and enjoying herself. If she sprains her ankle, it's none of my business. Grandmother, don't you agree?"

Upon hearing this, Su Cuirong's face darkened instantly. She slammed the beads she was fiddling with onto the small table with a loud bang. "Jiang Luoluo, you are a lady from a respectable family. How can you be so unrestrained and slander your cousin's reputation!"

"Reputation?" Jiang Luoluo put down her teacup, straightened her sleeves, and leaned back lazily in her chair. "She doesn't even care about it herself, and you want me to care for her? Why does Grandmother like to force people to do things against their will?"

Su Cuirong looked at Jiang Luoluo's indifferent and carefree attitude and felt inexplicably angry. "Look at the way you are. You're not sitting properly, and you're spouting nonsense. What do you mean you don't care about Shiyu herself?"

Jiang Luoluo narrowed her bright eyes, like a cunning little fox. Her eyebrows curved, and she met Su Cuirong's gaze with a composed yet firm expression, saying with a half-smile, "..."

"Grandmother, you really have to ask so bluntly about Yao Shiyu and Gu Boyuan sleeping together. There are so many servants here. You should at least give Yao Shiyu some face, shouldn't you?"

After these words were spoken, all around fell silent. Su Cuirong, who had just opened her mouth to scold Jiang Luoluo, slowly closed it after a long while.

Yao Shiyu lowered her head, looking weak and frail. She hurriedly knelt in front of Su Cuirong and sobbed, "Grandmother, it's all my fault. I'm sorry to my cousin. Please punish me if you must."

Su Cuirong was silent for a moment, then said to Yao Shiyu, "Get up. Don't kneel down so easily. There's still room for maneuver in this matter."

Jiang Luoluo took another sip of tea, concealing the various emotions in her eyes. This was her grandmother. The first thing she asked upon meeting her was not how her eldest son and daughter-in-law were doing, but rather to immediately blame her for not taking good care of Yao Shiyu.

Even when she heard that Yao Shiyu had stolen her fiancé, she felt no unease whatsoever. It was as if Yao Shiyu's actions were perfectly justified, and although they lived under the same roof, they were treated worse than strangers.

Fortunately, she arrived in time. Otherwise, with her parents gone and her grandmother tormenting her after she returned home, what kind of life would the original owner of this body, Jiang Luoluo, have been living?

“Luo Luo, you may not be wronged in this matter. General Gu needs someone to relieve his fatigue after fighting on the battlefield. Now he has found Shi Yu, who is someone we know very well in our household. After Shi Yu enters the Gu family, you two sisters will be able to take care of each other.”

Jiang Luoluo smiled slightly, thinking that she was better off without a grandmother like that.

Her tone was light and casual, as if she didn't care at all. "Grandmother's consideration is indeed very thorough. I don't care, but Cousin Shiyu is a perfectly fine young lady, and she is also the second most famous female doctor in the Great Qi Kingdom. Grandmother, are you willing to let her become someone's concubine?"

Su Cuirong immediately frowned and patted Yao Shiyu, who had returned to stand next to her. "Concubine? What do you mean by concubine? General Gu has feelings for Shiyu. From now on, you sisters will marry into the Gu family together, without distinction of rank, and support each other."

"No distinction between big and small?" Jiang Luoluo raised an eyebrow, as if she had heard a huge joke. She chuckled lightly, but her eyes revealed a chilling coldness. "Grandmother said the same thing to her own sister back then, didn't she?"

Upon hearing this, Su Cuirong's face turned ashen, her chest heaving with anger. "You, you, you wretched child..."

However, how could Jiang Luoluo know about what happened back then? Even Jiang Chengfeng didn't know, so how could she, Jiang Luoluo, possibly know?

Jiang Luoluo stood up lazily, patted her sleeves, and looked like an innocent child with clear eyes. "Grandmother, please rest well. Play with your prayer beads more often. If you do something wrong, evil spirits will come to claim your life in the middle of the night."

After saying that, she turned and left gracefully, her back view languid and composed. Su Cuirong kicked the chaise lounge and muttered a few curses under her breath. Jiang Luoluo was really becoming more and more outrageous.

Originally, Su Cuirong was supposed to teach her a lesson, but in the end, she ended up suffering in silence. Su Cuirong was so angry that her chest heaved.

Yao Shiyu, standing to the side, clenched her fingers tightly. In the past, Jiang Luoluo had always been extremely respectful to Su Cuirong, and when she occasionally talked back, it was always in a reckless and rude manner.

But this time, Jiang Luoluo seemed like a completely different person. She spoke and acted with impeccable manners. Could it be that she, like herself, had also been reborn? Yao Shiyu felt a sense of unease.

Inside the private room on the third floor of Liuyun Pavilion, the room was quiet and elegant, with a warm fire in the stove and a fragrant aroma.

Jiang Luoluo and Xie Yizhi sat by the window, the table laden with various exquisite dishes.

"Miss Jiang, has your appetite improved these past few days?" Xie Yizhi's slender fingers lifted the teapot and poured Jiang Luoluo a cup of jujube tea.

Jiang Luoluo picked up the teacup with her soft little hands and took a sip. She smiled and said, "I have to thank Your Highness for your clever scare, otherwise my appetite would not have recovered so quickly!"

Xie Yizhi hadn't expected Jiang Luoluo to be so carefree. If it were any other young lady, what man would point a dagger at her and threaten to kill her, and then be able to talk about it so calmly and freely afterwards?

Xie Yizhi coughed awkwardly, "In a moment of crisis, this was the only method I could think of at the time. After all, if they become allies with me, they'll be facing bloodshed in the future."

Jiang Luoluo gently placed her small hands on the teacup, her bright eyes looking at Xie Yizhi, and her lips parted slightly, "How did Your Highness get through it before? Were you afraid all alone?"

"Are you afraid to be alone?" These words were like a boulder crashing into a lonely, cold pool, creating a thousand ripples and constantly striking his eardrums. Outside the window, there was a cacophony of voices, but Xie Yizhi felt as if time had stood still at that moment.

Are you scared?

No one had ever asked him before; Jiang Luoluo was the first!

A gentle breeze blew in through the window, bringing Xie Yizhi back to his senses. He lowered his eyes, concealing all emotion, and simply said, "You'll get used to it!"

Jiang Luoluo glanced at the table full of exquisite and tempting vegetarian dishes. Coupled with the simple and crude method Xie Yizhi had thought of earlier, she knew that in the corners she couldn't see, Xie Yizhi was experiencing a thousand times more pain than she was.

He was a prince who lived a life of luxury, but he had to shoulder heavy responsibilities and fight on the battlefield. Looking at his fallen comrades and the heads of enemies scattered all over the ground, he could not back down and could only move forward like an arrow.

No one is born a hero; everyone becomes who they are through countless trials and tribulations.

She was much luckier, because with Xie Yizhi's guidance, she was slowly getting used to the world in the book.
