A gentle autumn breeze stirs the osmanthus trees in the courtyard of General Weiyuan's mansion, their branches swaying slightly and releasing a faint fragrance of osmanthus blossoms, adding a touch of tranquility to the otherwise bustling scene.
Jiang Gan stood in the courtyard, his gaze fixed on the neatly stacked luggage, a thoughtful look in his eyes.
He turned his head and looked at Jiang Luoluo, who was taking inventory of the items. She was holding a booklet and carefully checking the items in the yard, marking off the ones she had checked.
Sunlight shone on her profile, making her eyes and brows sparkle. Jiang Gan watched this scene, a smile unconsciously curving his lips.
His younger sister has really grown up; she's no longer the spoiled girl who only had eyes for Gu Boyuan.
Now, she acts with composure, meticulousness, and orderliness, which makes him, as her elder brother, feel very gratified.
Now that everything in the manor is settled, he should set off south to Jiaozhou to prepare for the opening of the new shop.
Before long, Jiang Luoluo finished checking all the items and instructed the servants, "Move these things onto the carriage, be careful not to bump or knock them."
The servants responded immediately, and the courtyard was bustling with activity.
At noon, the brother and sister had lunch together. At the table, Jiang Gan casually gave them a few instructions.
Jiang Luoluo kept everything in mind. Although she had a smile on her face, there was a hint of reluctance hidden in her eyes.
After the meal, Jiang Gan changed into casual clothes and went out the door.
Jiang Luoluo stood at the door watching him leave, and couldn't help but call out, "Big brother, be careful on the road, and remember to write if anything happens!"
Jiang Gan turned to look at her and gave her a gentle smile. "Don't worry, Luo Luo, everything at home is in your hands."
He mounted his horse, and the carriage slowly started moving, the sounds of hooves and wheels gradually fading into the distance.
The autumn sun shone on the wide avenue, and Jiang Gan's figure appeared even more resolute in the sunlight.
A faint fragrance of osmanthus blossoms drifted on the breeze, enhancing the tranquility of the courtyard.
Jiang Luoluo stood in front of the door for a long time, until the carriage completely disappeared from sight, before turning around and returning to the mansion.
Jiang Luoluo only enjoyed this peaceful life for half a day. In the evening, a maid rushed in to report: "Miss, the wedding date for Physician Yao and General Gu has been set!"
Jiang Luoluo was intently pruning a branch of crabapple blossoms, placing it in a white porcelain vase, gently inhaling its faint fragrance, and asking calmly, "When?"
The maidservant replied hastily, "It will be on the Mid-Autumn Festival!"
Jiang Luoluo raised an eyebrow slightly, slowly walked to the desk and sat down, and Dingdang immediately handed her paper and pen.
"Yao Shiyu is quite efficient," Jiang Luoluo said in a low voice.
"Isn't that right, Miss? I always feel that Doctor Yao is a bit too impatient." Dingdang's round face was full of doubt.
Jiang Luoluo nodded slightly, "Yes, being too hasty will leave clues."
She picked up her pen and started sketching on the paper, recalling the plot of the book "Yan Xing Jiu Tian" in her mind.
Yao Shiyu's eagerness to marry Gu Boyuan was simply to find a stronger backer and advance her next plan.
Jiang Luoluo quickly wrote down the names of Prince Yan Lu Tingyue and the bald old monk on the white paper. Her gaze was calm and composed, indicating that Yao Shiyu was about to lose her composure.
Ever since the assassination attempt on her way back to Beijing from Yunchuan, Jiang Luoluo had suspected that someone had leaked the news of Liu Dayong's arrest to the mastermind, which prompted the other party to act swiftly and lay an ambush in the valley, attempting to kill two birds with one stone.
Now, Yao Shiyu's hasty actions have confirmed her suspicions.
It is said that the pillow talk is the most effective, and Gu Boyuan has been restless these past few days. Jiang Luoluo's image keeps appearing in his mind, and he wants to get rid of this uncontrollable state as soon as possible.
Yao Shiyu also realized that because of her mother's matter, Madam Gu had already expressed some dissatisfaction with her.
So for the past few nights, she wore a thin gauze dress and whispered sweet nothings in Gu Boyuan's ear, finally persuading him to marry her on the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Jiang Luoluo gently tossed the white paper in her hand. The paper sliced through the air and fell into the fire, instantly turning into a wisp of smoke.
The maidservant had just finished reporting and left.
Su Cuirong then sent someone over to ask Jiang Luoluo to come over.
Upon meeting, Su Cuirong's attitude was much more polite than before, and she spoke in a gentle tone.
"Lolo, the Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching, a time for family reunion."
Our whole family will go to visit your aunt, even though she did something wrong in the past.
But she's family after all; as the saying goes, even broken bones are still connected by tendons. She's your aunt, after all, and we can't just ignore her like this.
As Su Cuirong spoke, her expression was somewhat moved, and her eyes were a little moist.
Jiang Luoluo was just looking for an excuse to go to Yuanhua Temple, and Su Cuirong offered her one.
However, she showed a hint of reluctance on her face, and her tone was perfunctory.
“Since Grandmother has given the order, Luo Luo will naturally obey.”
However, I'm only going to see her briefly; as for preparing all the necessary items, please leave it to my grandmother and cousin to handle."
Seeing that Jiang Luoluo agreed so reluctantly, Su Cuirong felt a little relieved, and a hint of smugness flashed between her brows.
She felt she had found a way to control Jiang Luoluo. Sure enough, she was still just a child, responsive to gentle persuasion but not force.
"Alright, alright, I'll take care of everything." Su Cuirong replied with a smile, her tone revealing a hint of hidden pride.
Jiang Luoluo quietly scanned Su Cuirong's room but did not find Yao Shiyu.
Back in her own courtyard, she felt something was off, but couldn't quite put her finger on it.
I decided to put my doubts aside for the time being, and took Dingdang to swing on the swing in the yard for a while. Then I enjoyed a sumptuous dinner, took a bath with the fragrance of osmanthus flowers, and finally fell into a deep sleep.
