Chapter 74 I Am a Good Man

Jiang Luoluo watched with a smile as Xie Yizhi and his son walked away into the distance until their figures disappeared into the night. Only then did she turn around and walk towards Luoluo Residence.

After returning to Lolo Residence, she took a petal bath to wash away her fatigue.

Amidst the rising steam, Jiang Luoluo closed her eyes, her body and mind relaxing completely. After bathing, she changed into comfortable nightgowns and lay down on the bed.

Jiang Luoluo was never used to having Dingdang keep watch at night, but Dingdang couldn't persuade her mistress, so she went back to the next room to rest.

The room was quiet. Jiang Luoluo closed her eyes slightly, pondering the plot of the book. Because of her arrival, the original story had undergone some subtle changes, but the overall direction remained the same.

Just as she was deep in thought, she suddenly heard a soft creak, as if the window had been pushed open.

Jiang Luoluo instantly became alert, reached under her pillow, pulled out the dagger Xie Yizhi had given her, and nimbly rolled out of bed.

The next instant, a familiar figure in black lightly leaped into the room. Upon seeing the newcomer, Jiang Luoluo breathed a sigh of relief and silently sheathed her dagger.

She patted her chest lightly, her voice tinged with reproach, "Your Highness, why are you here so late?"

Xie Yizhi stood by the window, coughed awkwardly, and said in a low voice, "There are some things I want to say to Luo Luo."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Luoluo turned around, put the dagger away, and then went to the side to light a lamp.

The candlelight suddenly flickered on, casting a soft yellow glow throughout the room. She stood by the lamp, arms crossed, her gaze carrying a hint of mockery and amusement as she looked at Xie Yizhi with a half-smile.

The firelight illuminated her face, making her already radiant features even more charming and alluring.

Xie Yizhi looked up and met her cunning and lively eyes. His heart skipped a beat, and the pounding of his heart was as rapid and powerful as a drumbeat, making him momentarily lost in thought.

"What important matter does Your Highness wish to discuss with me?" Jiang Luoluo took a few steps barefoot, casually pulled out a chair and sat down at the desk, looking up at Xie Yizhi with a frank yet inquisitive gaze.

Xie Yizhi took a deep breath, as if he were carefully choosing his words. He walked steadily to the opposite side of her.

He pulled up a chair and sat down, his thin lips slightly pursed, his expression unusually serious. "Luo Luo, I went to the palace today and met with the Empress Dowager."

Jiang Luoluo's heart stirred slightly as she recalled Xie Zhichen's aggrieved words. The Empress Dowager had not only scolded Xie Zhichen but also Xie Yizhi.

She couldn't help but feel a tightness in her chest. She had already tasted the bitterness of being criticized and scolded by her closest relatives from Su Cuirong, and it was the most unbearable thing.

She spoke softly, her tone gentle yet firm: "Your Highness, you are the best person in the Great Qi, the guardian god of war in the hearts of the people."

He was a role model for the young men of the capital, and the ideal man every woman dreamed of. The Empress Dowager's dislike of you is her problem, not yours.

Xie Yizhi felt a warm glow in his heart as he listened to her comforting words. He knew perfectly well that Jiang Luoluo's words were casual and perhaps not deeply thoughtful.

But every word he heard warmed him, like a fire burning in the cold winter, dispelling the chill in his heart.

He was silent for a moment, a smile gradually appearing in his eyes. Seizing the opportunity, he asked slowly, "So, what kind of person am I in Luo Luo's heart?"

His voice was warm and deep, even with a hint of huskiness and allure. The corners of his lips were slightly upturned, and his eyes gleamed with a meaningful light. "In Luo Luo's heart, am I also a good man?"

Jiang Luoluo was caught off guard by these provocative words, and her cheeks flushed slightly. She looked away for a moment, but quickly regained her composure.

Jiang Luoluo coughed lightly and said to Xie Yizhi in a solemn and frank tone, "Your Highness, I agree to your proposal regarding the contract marriage."

She did not answer Xie Yizhi's question directly, but Xie Yizhi was not disappointed by it.

Jiang Luoluo has already agreed to the marriage, which is already a delightful start.

Xie Yizhi was secretly delighted; everything was developing in a positive direction.

Xie Yizhi's lips curled up slightly, and a hint of excitement flashed in his eyes. He couldn't help but reach out and grasp Jiang Luoluo's slender hand, his voice full of gratitude and joy: "Luoluo, thank you for giving me this opportunity."

Jiang Luoluo was slightly taken aback by his sudden action, but a faint smile appeared in her eyes.

She stared intently at the handsome face before her. At this moment, Xie Yizhi seemed less cold and aloof than usual, and more gentle and pure like a young boy.

Such a sight is enough to stir one's heart.

Jiang Luoluo couldn't help but think to herself, "Damn it, what a bewitching face."

Jiang Luoluo remained calm and said softly, "Your Highness, Zhichen's lip problem requires surgery to cure."

Xie Yizhi's expression shifted slightly, a complex emotion flashing across his eyes.

He recalled how Empress Dowager Du often mocked him behind his back, saying that Xie Zhichen's lip ailment was retribution for Xie Yizhi's bloodthirsty nature and heavy sins.

He didn't believe these words, but he couldn't refute them, so he could only bury his anger deep in his heart.

In fact, Xie Yizhi knew very well that Zhichen's lip condition was just a congenital cleft lip, which could be easily repaired with a simple surgical procedure in modern times.

But in Daqi, he searched for famous doctors everywhere, and even the highly skilled physician Hu was helpless and could only sigh in despair.

He never expected that Jiang Luoluo, at such a young age, would possess such superb surgical skills.

This problem had troubled him for years, yet now it sounded so easy to explain in her words. As long as Jiang Luoluo was willing to help, he felt reassured.

Xie Yizhi rarely brought Xie Zhichen to palace banquets for a long time, precisely to protect the child's self-esteem and prevent those rumors from hurting him.

But now, Xie Yizhi's brows finally relaxed, and his voice sounded more relieved: "If Luo Luo helps, Zhi Chen's heartache can be completely resolved. At that time, I will definitely thank you in person."

A faint smile appeared on Jiang Luoluo's lips, her tone firm and calm: "Your Highness, rest assured, Zhichen's treatment is not complicated. Once I have everything prepared, I will begin the treatment."

Seeing her composed demeanor, Xie Yizhi felt a sense of relief, and a warmth filled his eyes: "Luo Luo, thank you."

Jiang Luoluo smiled slightly, shook her head, and the two looked at each other.

The electric heater was burning brightly inside the house, making it warm and cozy. Xie Yizhi held Jiang Luoluo's hand, his palms already slightly sweaty.

Looking at that handsome face so close to hers, Jiang Luoluo's heart raced, and her cheeks flushed slightly.

The girl's faint floral fragrance lingered around his nose, and Xie Yizhi felt his heart pounding like a drum.

Fearing he might lose control, he hurriedly released Jiang Luoluo's hand and softly instructed, "Luoluo, please rest well. It's late, so I won't disturb you any longer!"

With that, she darted out the window. Jiang Luoluo watched the dark figure disappear into the night, then touched her burning cheeks and let out a long sigh of relief.

With such an alluring face right in front of him, he almost couldn't resist!
