Chapter 5: The state of near death, just like in the previous life.

Duanmu Ling listened to Jiang Luoluo's treatment plan and looked relieved. "Luoluo, everyone has to take the first step. You should start with your parents."

Jiang Chengfeng also cheered her on, "Luo Luo, your parents believe in you."

Jiang Luoluo nodded, then patted her chest solemnly and said, "Father, Mother, don't worry, leave it to me."

The couple smiled knowingly at Jiang Luoluo's confident demeanor.

Jiang Luoluo arranged for her parents to lie on the bed, while Dingdang stood guard outside the door. This surgery could only be performed by him alone, without any assistants. She had to complete the surgery quickly and accurately, as delaying it would arouse the suspicion of spies.

Jiang Chengfeng volunteered to go first. Jiang Luoluo had already prepared the anesthetic solution. Duanmu Ling already had all the surgical tools, including needles, tweezers, a scalpel similar to a modern one, mulberry bark thread, and scissors.

Jiang Luoluo mixed peppercorns, salt, and water together, first thoroughly cleaning the skin around the boils, and then applying the anesthetic. The anesthetic took effect in less than the time it takes for an incense stick to burn.

Jiang Chengfeng, who is usually a chatterbox, was quiet at this moment. He knew that he had to trust Jiang Luoluo 100% and not let her be distracted. She was his daughter, and he would not regret it even if he was used as a guinea pig.

Jiang Luoluo held her breath and quickly cut off the poisonous sore with a small knife. Fresh blood gushed from the wound. Now came the most challenging step, as Jiang Luoluo had previously been very afraid of blood.

Duanmu Ling watched from the side, her face calm and composed, but she was extremely anxious inside, because she was afraid that Jiang Luoluo would suddenly faint.

Unexpectedly, Jiang Luoluo remained unusually calm. She placed the boil in a dish, used tweezers to press a cotton cloth onto the wound, and then quickly picked up the red-hot branding iron from the charcoal brazier. She removed the cotton cloth, and with a sizzle, the branding iron imprinted on the wound, quickly stopping the bleeding.

The whole process was completed in one go, and Duanmu Ling let out a long sigh of relief.

Jiang Luoluo took out a suture needle and used tweezers to control the stitches, carefully stitching the wound shut one stitch at a time. She then neatly cut off the remaining mulberry bark thread with scissors.

Duanmu Ling watched quietly from the side. Even as a military doctor who had performed hundreds of surgeries, she couldn't help but admire Jiang Luoluo's skillful techniques and swift movements. She was practically a veteran surgeon, and compared to her, she was even more skilled than her.

"Luo Luo, you're beautiful! I'm so proud of you!" Duanmu Ling said, her eyes already brimming with tears.

Jiang Luoluo washed her hands as she said, "Thank you, Mother."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Chengfeng knew the surgery was complete. He hadn't expected it to be so fast, and there hadn't been a single mistake. It was far beyond his expectations.

The anesthesia hadn't worn off yet, and Jiang Chengfeng smiled broadly, jokingly saying, "I told you long ago, my daughter takes after me, she's smart and quick-witted, and she learns everything in no time."

As they were talking, a commotion suddenly broke out.

A calm male voice came through, "I need to see my master and mistress, please let me in."

Dingdang raised her head high, pointing her nostrils directly at Gu Boyuan, "No one is allowed to enter."

"You're just a maid, how dare you stop me?" Gu Boyuan's tone was already showing some anger.

“This is my young lady’s order. Does General Gu mean that my young lady is not qualified?” Dingdang waved her fist at him fiercely and whispered, “Be careful, or I’ll tell the master what you did last night.”

Gu Boyuan stopped in his tracks upon hearing this. It turned out that Jiang Luoluo hadn't told Jiang Chengfeng and his wife about what happened last night. This gave him a perfect opportunity to say that Jiang Luoluo still loved him, but just had difficulty accepting his relationship with Yao Shiyu last night.

This morning, he really didn't want to come and see Jiang Chengfeng and his wife. He didn't want to be scolded by them. All along, the care and support he had given Jiang Chengfeng was largely due to Jiang Luoluo. He found this kind of condescending charity disgusting.

It was Yao Shiyu who reminded him that several military doctors had taken turns treating him for two or three days without any improvement. If Jiang Chengfeng and his wife were to die, then it would be most appropriate to hand over the Flying Feather Army's military seal to Gu Boyuan for safekeeping.

Now, just as Yao Shiyu said, Jiang Luoluo was only acting impulsively last night and will not make a big deal out of it. Jiang Chengfeng and his wife will not know about it.

Then he should go in and take a look, so that he can better prove his loyalty. He also needs to show his love for Jiang Luoluo in front of Jiang Chengfeng and his wife.

If Jiang Chengfeng and his wife hadn't died, given Jiang Luoluo's persistent love for him, and the fact that they were already engaged, marriage would have been inevitable sooner or later.

As long as he becomes the general's son-in-law, the Flying Feather Army will eventually belong to him, so he won't lose out no matter what.

Time was of the essence. Inside the main house, Jiang Luoluo had already cut the mulberry bark sutures that Duanmu Ling had used to stitch up her wound. Judging from the sounds, Yao Shiyu had not come with Gu Boyuan.

If she drags it out too long, it might arouse Yao Shiyu's suspicion.

"Brother Boyuan, why are you standing outside the door?" a shrill female voice rang out.

What I feared most has come to pass!

Jiang Luoluo quickly tidied up the tools, then used two handkerchiefs to pat the blood off the gauze, and placed the handkerchiefs near the corners of Jiang Chengfeng's and Duanmu Ling's mouths respectively.

Dingdang was furious when she saw Yao Shiyu walking towards her. She had never seen such a shameless person. Gu Boyuan and Yao Shiyu showed no remorse for what happened last night. Now they were standing here, making a scene, acting like nothing had happened.

"Dingdang, let them in!" Jiang Luoluo pinched her thigh again, letting the glistening tears hang on her eyelashes.

Gu Boyuan rushed in, his voice filled with anxiety, "Master, Master? Are you feeling better?"
