The emperor stared at Gu Chen with suspicion. "Your actions make me very doubtful of your medical skills. You swore that you could replace Xia Yue, which is why I turned against her and took action!"
"Your Majesty, rest assured, I will take care of both your health and the poison in that lady's body," Gu Chen replied, bowing his head.
The emperor pressed on impatiently, "Then why hasn't my health recovered yet? I've been taking such bitter medicine every day; it's almost given me stomach problems!"
"Really? After taking the medicine for so long, it should be working by now."
"Ha! Do you think I'm lying?" The emperor stood up from his seat in anger, confronting Gu Chen.
Gu Chen remained silent.
It was almost time to take his medicine, so the emperor pulled Gu Chen aside and made him watch him take it.
After finishing his meal, he asked someone to bring him a glass of honey water, as he always did.
Gu Chen's expression changed slightly when he saw the honey water; he finally realized the problem.
