Chapter 52 says a lot of bad things about me.

Chapter 52 says a lot of bad things about me.

"Give it to me," he said calmly and in a somber tone.

Seeing his outstretched hand, Shuzhi crushed the sachet in her hand and shook the crumbs into his palm.

She then discovered that inside the sachet was a strand of hair tied with a red string, and a small wooden comb.

Looking at the style of the comb, she vaguely remembered that she had the same one.

She waited for him to get angry, for him to blame her, so that she could legitimately ask him about his relationship with his ex-wife.

However, Dai Yuzhuo said nothing, simply put away the sachet, and continued changing her sheets, her eyes filled with undisguised sadness.

From this perspective, it seems that Dai and Zhuo care about her more?

The two lay down back to back without saying a word.

Around midnight, Shuzhi felt a burning sensation on her back. The man groaned slightly and breathed heavily.

Shuzhi reached down to touch him, but Daiyu Zhuo stopped her hand: "It's okay, Shuzhi, go back to sleep, it's still early."

Somewhat dazed, she turned over. Under the covers, the bulge in his abdomen was particularly noticeable in the darkness.

This time, she could no longer pretend not to understand.

Seeing her sit up, Dai and Zhuo hurriedly tried to cover their abdomens with their large hands, but it was too late.

His frantic movements aggravated the dull pain in his abdomen, and he suddenly groaned and fell back onto the bed.

Shuzhi immediately helped him up: "How are you feeling? Where are you hurt?"

Dai Yu's forehead and neck were covered in cold sweat. He paused for a moment, but still couldn't speak.

The pain was more intense than he had anticipated; his lower abdomen was being torn apart in waves.

Her worry came even faster than her disappointment, startling her; it seemed to be a habitual, instinctive worry.

She immediately went to make a phone call. When she returned, her hair was casually draped over her shoulders, and the stray hairs at her temples were somewhat messy.

She usually pays the most attention to her appearance, but now she can't care about anything for him, and a bitter feeling wells up in Dai Yuzhuo's heart.

Shuzhi spoke faster than usual: "Doctor Du said he'll come as soon as he's prepared the medicine."

She took a few tissues from the tissue box by the bedside and carefully wiped the sweat from Dai Yuzhuo's hairline and earlobes. As she wiped her sweat-soaked pajamas, they clung to her skin, revealing glimpses of her firm muscles.

The delicate orchid on the tissue is exquisite and elegant, as if you can still smell the faint fragrance on the back of her hand, and even feel the warmth of the young girl's body as it gently falls on his cheek and neck.

Doctor Du arrived shortly afterward, accompanied by Dai Yuzhuo's two brothers, Song Linjiang and Huang Yuanfu.

When the group saw her there, they were all surprised and taken aback.

Huang Yuanfu still addressed her respectfully as "sister-in-law," but Song Linjiang treated her with extreme suspicion, giving her a wary look.

She was ushered to the living room, where she could hear suppressed cries of pain.

"Hmm—is the child alright? Uh-huh—"

"Brother Zhuo, exhale, don't strain."

"Ugh..."

"There's quite a bit of bleeding, Brother Zhuo, please bear with it."

Huang Yuanfu sat on the sofa beside her, somewhat at a loss, and palely comforted her, "It's...it's alright. I heard that it's normal for a man to experience uterine pain when he first becomes pregnant. Last week, Brother Zhuo received...received a message from his wife that he had a miscarriage. The bleeding had stopped these past few days, but now it's gotten worse."

The message she sent? What message could have caused him to have a miscarriage? She has no recollection of it at all.

The child's arrival was so sudden; she only felt a pang of pity upon hearing how distressed Dai Yuzhuo was. As for whether the child could be saved, she had no interest in caring at all.

Besides, his belly was hiding and concealing itself, clearly indicating that he had something to hide. Did she think she couldn't see it?

Huang Yuanfu was hesitating about what to do when the door suddenly opened. Song Linjiang's face was even darker than before: "Sister-in-law, Brother Zhuo wants you to come in."

The room felt cramped with the group of them. Dai Yuzhuo raised his hand with some difficulty and said with a wry smile, "Shuzhi, come here."

Song Linjiang said to Huang Yuanfu in an annoyed tone, "She's being unreasonable, and you didn't even try to persuade her." He then slammed the door shut.

Shuzhi moved closer to Dai Yuzhuo, took his hand in hers, and pressed the back of his hand against her cheek. Dai Yuzhuo was taken aback and was somewhat surprised by her sudden intimate gesture.

"You're still worried about your sister-in-law?" Huang Yuanfu said, putting his arm around Song Linjiang and walking away.

Song Linjiang snorted coldly: "It's precisely because she's here that I don't feel at ease."

Huang Yuanfu flicked his forehead: "Alright, I think your sister-in-law has finally figured it out. If she wasn't worried about Brother Zhuo, would she have stayed out so late?"

Is she really worried about Zhuo-ge? Hmph, I'm afraid something's happened at home again, and she's going to make things difficult for Zhuo-ge again. She really has the nerve to come here, considering she was showing off her affection for Chi Youran in public just last week, and she even said so many hurtful things to Zhuo-ge.

Shuzhi and Doctor Du helped Dai Yuzhuo sit up. Although it was only a slight movement, it was extremely difficult for Dai Yuzhuo. With Shuzhi by his side, he stopped groaning in pain.

Shuzhi knew perfectly well how much pain he could endure.

But the sweat on his forehead couldn't lie. Shuzhi pulled Daiyu Zhuo close and wiped it away with her sleeve, her mind in turmoil, and comforted him, "It's alright."

This statement sounds more like a way of comforting oneself.

The man's veins bulged as he leaned back into Shuzhi's arms, gasping for breath. One hand gripped tightly against his lower abdomen.

The man was strong and powerful, and his back and waist were even stronger from years of martial arts training. But his abdomen, which should have been firm and solid, was soft because he was carrying her child.

Dr. Du has already stopped the bleeding. Judging from the reactions of the three of them, it seems that she is used to Dai Yuzhuo's behavior and that she is making a mountain out of a molehill.

Shuzhi politely saw the three off. Dai Yuzhuo raised his hand to turn off the light, but Shuzhi stopped him: "Wait a moment, apply the ointment first."

Dai Yuzhuo was puzzled, and Shuzhi blushed with embarrassment, frantically trying to undo his pajamas. The more she tried to act as if nothing had happened, the more she couldn't untie them, and she accidentally tied them into a knot. Dai Yuzhuo reached out to help her, but the moment their fingertips touched, they both felt as if they had been burned and instantly withdrew their hands.

Dai Yuzhuo patiently unbuttoned his shirt, and Shuzhi pulled his underwear down a bit, revealing his entire abdomen. The ointment Dr. Du had given her was cool and refreshing, and Shuzhi gently rubbed it along the man's skin.

Dai Yuzhuo stiffened, awkwardly turning his head away, his earlobes turning red. Seeing this, Shuzhi became bolder, expanding the massage area and touching his lower back.

"Why didn't you hire an obstetrician to take care of her?"

“…I’m not used to it.” Dai Yuzhuo said shyly, “Dr. Du is a good doctor. He’s the one who treats the brothers when they get injured.”

Shuzhi disagreed: "Everyone has their own expertise. How about we ask Doctor Song to take a look?"

Dai Yuzhu shook her head: "I'm much better now. I'll invite him when I'm about to give birth."

Shuzhi didn't insist. After wiping the ointment off her hands, she stopped and prepared to go to sleep. When she looked up, she met his gentle, watery eyes.

Under his gaze, Shuzhi lost her composure, haphazardly tying his clothes, and angrily said, "What are you looking at!"

Under the lamplight, he gazed at the beauty; her long, ink-black hair cascaded over her shoulders, the stray strands shimmering with a soft glow. The man smiled and said, "Shuzhi, you have me in your heart."

Shuzhi was utterly defeated. She snapped the light off, rolled over, and covered her burning ears with the blanket, determined not to let him see any more: "Go to sleep!"

After a while, the person behind her pulled her into their arms and she fell asleep peacefully.

She was still in his arms when she woke up in the morning; it felt like a dream.

Dai Yuzhuo's heart skipped a beat: "You must have been exhausted last night."

Shuzhi nestled in his arm: "Anan was talking in his sleep last night."

"Hmm? I didn't know that."

"They said a lot of bad things about me."

Dai Yuzhuo gave a deep laugh: "What did you say?"

“They say I have a bad temper, am willful, don’t know how to appreciate kindness, and are easily deceived.” The girl lay on his lap, thinking as she spoke, until she couldn’t come up with anything more.

"yes."

Shuzhi immediately looked up at him, but the man remained expressionless and continued, "He is both helpless, hateful, pitiful, and lovable."

She was in a hurry and quickly cooked some porridge and brought it to Dai Yuzhuo: "If you can't eat, it's good to drink some porridge. Otherwise, an empty stomach is not good for your health."

Dai Yuzhuo said with difficulty, "I really can't drink anymore, let's do it tomorrow."

Shuzhi blinked, and Daiyu Zhuo asked, "What's going on with you today...?"

She glanced at Dai Yuzhuo's lower abdomen and was once again annoyed at her slow realization: "Is it still hurting badly? I'll go find Doctor Du and get some more painkillers."

As she was about to leave, Dai Yuzhuo grabbed her arm. How could she let her get tired again? She herself was still a patient.

But meeting her pained and warm gaze, he couldn't hide it any longer and had to honestly confess: "It's not a stomachache, it's just a severe backache and swelling. I guess it's because of the cold weather that my old injury has flared up again."

Dai Yuzhuo took her hand in his palm, pulled her back to sit on the bed, and comforted her, "Give me a massage for a while, and I'll be fine."

Shuzhi quickly cleared away the bowls and chopsticks. Her hands were already warm, and she rubbed them even warmer before placing them on Daiyu's lower back and massaging it somewhat haphazardly.

The morning light was excellent, illuminating the entire room with a shimmering glow.

He insisted that Shuzhi rest a little longer, and Shuzhi rolled into his arms again.

Dai Yuzhuo's lips unconsciously curved upwards, and he took the opportunity to hug her and gently kiss her delicate cheek.

Shuzhi rubbed the corner of her eye. Her front had somehow come undone, revealing half of her shoulder and her breasts faintly visible.

Shuzhi's left hand circled around his lower abdomen, gently touching various spots with utmost tenderness. Daiyu Zhuo endured the pain, turning his head away in unbearable discomfort.

"What's wrong? Does it hurt?"

Dai Yuzhu snorted twice and shook his head.

That hand, completely different from a man's, was soft and slender, caressing his waist back and forth, moving up and down. Dai Yuzhuo, unlike his usual composed self, hurriedly brushed away her mischievous hand.

Shuzhi asked, bewildered, "What's wrong with you?"

Dai Yuzhuo put a little distance between herself and her and said, "It's okay, go get some sleep."

Shuzhi withdrew her hand and was about to snuggle into his arms when her thigh suddenly bumped into something hot and burning. In an instant, both of them froze.

Shuzhi then understood why Dai and Zhuo were acting strangely. She quickly rolled onto the bed to keep her distance from him, so fast that she bumped into the bed board with a 'thud'.

In the ensuing silence, the sound became even more awkward.

Dai Yuzhuo lowered her eyes and slowly stood up.

Shuzhi didn't know where to look—should she look at him or not? In her panic, she heard the man's hoarse voice say, "I'll go and get some news from Doctor Du. You should go to sleep."

The voice was deep and resonant, like a gentle breeze, disappearing without a trace into her silence.

Shuzhi wrapped herself tightly in the quilt, opened her mouth, as if to say something.

What can I say? That as your wife, I don't want you to be near me, or even that I don't want this child?

He must abort his child with his ex-wife!

Why should she be the one to take the fall?

So Shuzhi could only watch helplessly as Dai Yuzhuo opened the door and left, unable to utter a single word to persuade him to stay.

She closed her eyes, but couldn't fall asleep.
