The truck swayed and wobbled as it set off under the cover of night. Everyone on board was still a little shaken, and even the more carefree ones started to doze off as the truck swayed.
Chu Jiaojiao and Xia Yiyang, leaning against Chu Xingyue, gradually began to doze off. With their sister by their side, they felt like they owned the whole world. Even if the sky fell, it wouldn't matter to them because their sister was there for them.
Sitting at the back of the car, Du Kangli was surrounded by the exhausted Lu Tianxin and Lu Zehua. In the moonlight, Du Kangli looked at the three people leaning together not far away. Chu Xingyue felt a gaze fall on her. She looked up and saw Du Kangli. Perhaps the gratitude in Du Kangli's eyes was too obvious. Chu Xingyue nodded to Du Kangli.
A convoy of military trucks carried the exhausted freshmen toward the military region.
After a bumpy ride, the exhausted children were all drowsy.
Chu Jiaojiao and Xia Yiyang had fallen asleep leaning against Chu Xingyue, while she half-closed her eyes and watched the moon slowly receding outside.
The car drove for about an hour before slowly coming to a stop.
"Xiao Yang, Jiao Jiao, wake up, we're here." Chu Jiao Jiao gently patted the two of them.
"Hmm, we've arrived?" Chu Jiaojiao woke up immediately, opening her eyes to see that it was still dark outside.
"An'an, how long have we been sitting? Why isn't it dawn yet?"
"It's been less than two hours, this is enough time to make up for it. How's Xiao Yang?" Chu Xingyue turned to Xia Yiyang beside her and asked.
"Sister, I'm fine, nothing's wrong."
"Okay, remember to stay out of the way and protect yourselves," Chu Xingyue whispered to the two of them.
Both of them understood the meaning behind Chu Xingyue's words.
As people got off the bus one after another, most of them hadn't recovered after resting for more than an hour. They staggered as they got off, and some even needed help from those around them, otherwise they would have definitely fallen to the ground.
Several upright men stood at the gate, dressed in black training uniforms and black masks. They were backlit and their faces were obscured, so it was impossible to see what they looked like. Even if they were up in the light, they probably wouldn't be able to tell what they looked like.
Chu Xingyue and her two companions stood in the middle of the group, sizing up the soldiers who were all covered up.
A sharp whistle startled everyone who was still lost in thought, and all eyes turned to the man who had blown the whistle.
"Is everyone awake?" the man asked.
"She's awake! She's awake! She was scared awake!"
"that is"
Whispers arose from the crowd.
"What, the flowers of our motherland can't hold on already?"
"Tch, these so-called flowers of the motherland? They look like they just came down from the mountain. They're probably not even as good as the old folks who scavenge for scraps. A bunch of weaklings, they've become stupid from studying too much," said a man slightly shorter than the man next to him.
An uproar immediately erupted in the crowd.
"What did you say? We're here for military training, why are you making personal attacks?"
"Exactly, why are you resorting to personal attacks? These elderly folks didn't do anything to you."
A chorus of condemnation arose.
Another whistle blew, and the sound gradually faded away.
"What, you feel wronged already? If your endurance is so low, why did you even go to military school? You get this tired after just five kilometers?"
The man standing in front continued, "Now, boys in pairs and girls in pairs. Everyone, take your things and follow your instructors to the dorms. You have ten minutes to pack up. I'll be waiting for you at the training ground in ten minutes."
After saying that, he turned and walked inside.
"This instructor is a bit arrogant," Lu Zehua said to his roommates, touching his ear.
