"I heard her family received a letter demanding money to ransom their child."
Li Shulan sighed, "How can anyone do such a despicable thing these days?"
Ye Xiaoxiao ignored these words and walked straight ahead. She knew that Zhou Kuan, that bastard, was hiding in the shadows watching her.
Sure enough, they hadn't gone far when they saw Zhou Kuan sneaking around ahead.
"That bastard," Ye Xiaoxiao cursed under her breath, pretending not to see him, and continued walking forward.
When we arrived at the place mentioned in the letter, it was a small earthen bridge with a large rock underneath.

Zhou Kuan grabbed his bag and ran towards the old, dilapidated temple. Ye Xiaoxiao wasn't in a hurry and followed slowly behind. She knew that Li Chenyang should already be there with the police.
Meanwhile, Li Chenyang rode his bicycle briskly to the town's police station. As soon as he entered, he exclaimed urgently:
"Officer, my child has been kidnapped!"
The police officers on duty at the station quickly inquired about the situation. Li Chenyang recounted the events and their theory about where the child might be hidden.
"You mean, you suspect that your sister-in-law and two other people in the village did it together?" the police officer asked, frowning.
"Yes!" Li Chenyang gritted his teeth.
"They even wrote us a ransom note demanding 1,000 yuan! My wife has already gone to deliver the money as they instructed."
"This is serious!" The police officer immediately stood up. "Xiao Li, Xiao Wang, come with me, this is a kidnapping case!"
Soon, three police officers rode bicycles and took Li Chenyang towards the old dilapidated temple.
"Now that I have money, I need to hurry back." Zhou Kuan touched his schoolbag and ran towards the old, dilapidated temple.
At this moment, in the old, dilapidated temple, Ma Yanling was holding Hao Hao, who was crying incessantly.
The child didn't eat properly last night, only nibbling on bread crumbs. Now he's hungry and has cried until his voice is hoarse.
"Can you just shut up for a bit?" Ma Yanling's head was throbbing from his crying. "Your mom's coming to pick you up soon."
Hao Hao recognized Ma Yanling, but when he woke up and didn't see his mother, he immediately started crying again.
This child is quite strong; even Ma Yanling couldn't hold him.
"You brat, if you cry again I'll slap you!" Ma Yanling said, about to hit Hao Hao, but the child grabbed her hair.
"Ouch!" Ma Yanling cried out in pain, "You little beast, you're just like your mother!"
Just then, Zhou Kuan rushed in. His face was very grim, and he threw his schoolbag on the ground.
"Damn it, this woman tricked us! We only had a little over 900 yuan in our bag!"
Zhou Kuan had never been to school, so he couldn't count the money clearly. Coupled with his nervousness, he felt that the amount of money was wrong.
"What?" Ma Yanling exclaimed anxiously, "Didn't we agree on a thousand?"
"They're definitely playing us on purpose," Zhou Kuan said viciously.
"This kid needs to be taught a lesson!" she said, reaching out to grab Hao Hao's hand.
"Zhou Kuan, are you crazy?" Ma Yanling exclaimed in surprise. "What are you going to do?"
"Chop off one of his fingers!" Zhou Kuan's eyes were bloodshot. "Let his mother know what's what!"
"No, what do you think you're doing with such a young child? Are you crazy? Nine hundred is enough. Don't cause trouble!" Ma Yanling, being a woman and a mother herself, stopped Zhou Kuan.
"Get the hell out of my way. This Ye Xiaoxiao always looks down on me, I'm going to teach her a lesson today." Zhou Kuan's fierce appearance frightened Hao Hao even more. "Waaah..." His cries carried far.
Just then, a series of footsteps suddenly came from outside.
Zhou Kuan and Ma Yanling were both startled. Before they could react, three police officers rushed in.
"Don't move!" the lead police officer shouted. "Police!"
Upon seeing that they were real police officers, Zhou Kuan was so frightened that his legs went weak and he sat down on the ground. Ma Yanling, holding her child, was also dumbfounded.
"Mother!"
As soon as Hao Hao saw Li Chenyang and Ye Xiaoxiao following behind, he immediately reached out his little hands, wanting his mother to hold him.
The child hasn't seen his parents for two days, and he's so anxious he's started calling out to them.
Ye Xiaoxiao rushed over and hugged her son tightly, tears streaming down her face: "Haohao, you scared Mommy to death!"
Ma Yanling was so scared that she wet her pants on the spot, because the police officers were pointing real weapons at them.
"Cuff them all!" the police officer ordered.
Li Chenyang finally saw his son safe and sound. Remembering how he'd overheard Zhou Kuan trying to chop off his son's fingers when he came in, he couldn't hold back any longer. He lunged at Zhou Kuan and kicked him to the ground. Police officers were also present and immediately began beating Zhou Kuan.
Zhou Kuan screamed in agony as Li Chenyang used all his strength in every move, nearly killing him.
Finally, the police couldn't stand it anymore and pulled Li Chenyang away.
"Don't kill someone, or it will be your fault."
Two young police officers stepped forward and handcuffed Zhou Kuan and Ma Yanling.
"What...what right do you have to arrest us?" Zhou Kuan still retorted.
"Kidnapping a child and extortion, is that enough of a charge?" the police officer sneered.
