Chapter 36 Your sister-in-law is about to give birth

Upon hearing Ye Xiaoxiao's words, Li Jianguo finally understood that this was a way to use the division of the family property to deal with Liu Juan.

"I'll take care of it, I promise." Li Chenyang covered his face, afraid that Ye Xiaoxiao would hit him again.

"Let me tell you, after this baby is born, don't think I can't handle you. You'll be cooking all the meals during your postpartum period."

Just do as I teach you. You'll wash the baby's diapers too. I won't care about anything else. You'll be in charge of everything related to the baby.

"If you dare abandon us and go out to fool around with other people, we'll get a divorce, and I'll take the child and go back to my parents' house."

Ye Xiaoxiao's words were a slap in the face to her mother-in-law; she acted as if she didn't have a mother-in-law at all.

"Oh dear, stop talking. How could your mother not care about you? You gave birth to the eldest grandson of the Li family. These things can't happen."

Li Jianguo felt utterly humiliated, wondering how he could have married such a troublesome daughter-in-law.

It's all Liu Juan's fault! Why do I keep provoking her? Is it really worth it over a few eggs?

"Go and take all the eggs in the house to the eldest son's room. From now on, she should have all the eggs."

Don't sell any eggs for the next two months.

Li Jianguo glared at Liu Juan, his beard bristling.

Liu Juan was definitely unwilling, but with so many people watching and her husband having spoken, if she didn't go and get it soon, things might get out of hand.

Liu Juan was heartbroken; the basket of eggs must have contained thirty or forty eggs, all of which she had saved up recently.

Seeing Ye Xiaoxiao's eyes crinkle into crescent moons with laughter, she felt even more sorry for her.

"Mom, all these eggs are mine."

Ye Xiaoxiao then told Li Chenyang to get a basin to collect it. Li Chenyang thought it was a good idea; since his wife had fought for it, he would just listen to her.

Li Chenyang covered his aching face and obediently did as he was told. Although Liu Juan didn't say anything, the look in her eyes betrayed her.

The neighbors who had been watching dispersed after this big family farce was over. Before leaving, they couldn't help but make some jokes:

"Yangzi's wife is quite something; she never suffers a loss."

"That's right, everyone says henpecked husbands are henpecked, but you're henpecked to death!"

Ye Xiaoxiao looked at the two old men talking and realized they were Zhang Nai's eldest son and the second uncle from next door.

I never realized it; I used to think my second uncle was a fair person.

It seems she was blind after all. It's just that the second uncle died too early in the story, and wasn't given much attention.

That's probably why she thought she was a good person. But it seems she was overthinking it; after all, the other person's surname is Li, so who is she?

Li Chenyang blushed deeply after being told off.

After this incident, Li Chenyang was beaten by his wife again, and he has been unable to lift his head when he walks for the past few days.

Ye Xiaoxiao didn't care; he continued to clean up after him as before.

This week, Li Chenyang didn't dare to hide, running back and forth between home and the fields.

He had to work in the fields and also go home to cook for his wife.

He didn't even have time to help Jin Erkun's family in the east repair the team's tractor these past few times.

It wasn't until the third time the person came and brought a dollar that Ye Xiaoxiao let them go.

This made some people look down on Ye Xiaoxiao's actions; they were from the same village, and she had to pay for helping someone.

Ye Xiaoxiao didn't care; knowledge is power, and this wasn't the kind of communal dining she used to rely on.

There are now street vendors selling things in the village. Everything will be free from now on. Are we going to have to work for free anymore?

Just when she thought Li Chenyang had finally learned his lesson, things went wrong again.

Just a week later, Ye Xiaoxiao was chatting with the Zhou family's daughter across the street when she suddenly felt a downward pressure in her stomach.

"Oh my, this feeling..."

Ye Xiaoxiao immediately became alert. She didn't feel any pain, but she clearly sensed that something was wrong.

She quickly stood up, supporting herself against the wall. She then felt something flowing out from her lower body. Her heart sank.

Zhou Amei was talking to her about her plans to find a son-in-law when she noticed something was wrong with her expression, so she quickly helped her up.

"Sister-in-law, are you about to give birth?"

Ye Xiaoxiao gritted her teeth and nodded:

"It should be. Please help me, quickly ask your older brother to take me to the town hospital."

Ye Xiaoxiao had inquired and learned that most births in the village were done at home, except that the original midwife...

Grandma Zhang is getting old now and doesn't do this kind of thing anymore, so in the past two years, those who can afford it have gone to the town hospital to give birth.

She had mentioned this to Li Chenyang before.

Zhou's sister went to the Li family's house and looked around, but couldn't find Li Chenyang. She then saw the fifth son squatting on the ground playing with mud.

Fifth brother, where's your eldest brother?

"Big brother? He rode his bike to Lei Family Village early this morning, saying that Lei Dazhuang wants to open a brick kiln and needs his help."

"What? Your sister-in-law is about to give birth? Where are your parents?"

Zhou Amei was so anxious that she circled the Li family's house, but no one was there. She quickly ran out to tell her sister-in-law.

"That bastard! I told him not to go out these past few days, and now look what's happened, my belly is getting..."

Ye Xiaoxiao never expected that despite all her calculations, this would still happen. The original plot was supposed to be about childbirth...

Li Chenyang went to the Lei family's house and didn't return until evening. The baby's already been born; there's really nothing he can do to help.

"Sister-in-law, Mom and Dad are in the fields, I'll go find them right now!"

The fifth one is only fourteen years old. He was playing with the sixth and seventh brothers when the other three boys were scared and didn't know what to do.

They followed nervously beside their sister-in-law. The two boys ultimately didn't go to school.

Currently, only Li Yanni, the youngest child in the family, is in the second grade.

"Alright, go ahead. Zhou sister, could you please go and invite Grandma Zhang?"

I think Li Chenyang is doomed to die out there today; we can't count on him anymore.
