Chapter 114: Investigating the Wang Family

This old bicycle was something she had brought into her space when she visited an antique shop in her previous life.

It was the first time she had seen this style of bicycle. She found it very novel and thought it was a large antique. She wanted to take it back to show her friends so that she could show off her knowledge.

Unfortunately, before that time came, she traveled to this world.

Qin Wan rode the old bicycle to the yard of Wang Huafei's house which he had inquired about before, jumped off the bicycle, put the bicycle back into the space, and then walked to the wall of Wang's yard.

Then she looked around and found a place where the wall was lower. She bent her legs slightly and squatted down. Then, with a force from her legs, she easily climbed over the wall.

After she landed, she didn't move immediately, but listened attentively to the surrounding movements. Soon, she heard a faint voice coming from the master bedroom.

She quietly walked over, squatted down, and approached the window, carefully listening to the movement inside. The voices of a man and a woman came from the room, and they were talking privately:

The woman said coquettishly:

"Zhu Zhu, you are still as brave as before! Unlike that useless guy in my family, if my eldest brother didn't think he was still useful, I wouldn't marry him! He is a waste!"

The man laughed triumphantly:

"Haha, Xiuxiu, if only I had met you earlier, then we wouldn't have to be so sneaky every day, and you could enjoy this kind of happiness every day."

The woman continued:

"How about I just divorce that loser and marry you? What do you think?"

The man answered hesitantly:

"Well... that's great, but the problem is that I don't make as much money as that loser, so I'm afraid I can't give you the life you want."

The woman comforted:

"Don't worry, that loser makes a lot of money, but it's all thanks to my big brother's help. If I marry you, I'll have my big brother find you a good job at his company, and you'll be able to surpass that loser in no time."

When Qin Wan heard this, he already understood the general situation. It turned out that Wang Huafei's wife had put a green hat on him.

But she hadn't come to the Wang family tonight to hear gossip or catch someone in adultery. She simply wanted to see if there was any evidence of Wang Huafei's guilt. So, when she understood the situation, she immediately retrieved the drug from her space and blew it into the house through a blowpipe.

Soon, snoring sounds were heard in the room, and it was obvious that both of them had fallen asleep.

After confirming that everyone in the house was completely asleep, Qin Wan carefully entered the room and began to search.

Based on her own experience, she first checked the Wang family's main living areas, including the master bedroom, second bedroom and study, but the results made her very confused.

She only found more than 200 yuan in cash and some bills in the bedside table of the master bedroom, but more than 100 yuan in cash, bills and two land deeds in the study.

This result made her feel very abnormal.

Because according to common sense, a family like Wang Huafei's and a personality like his shouldn't have just this much.

How could she not believe that Wang Huafei, a gigolo who worked in a lucrative department, could keep himself clean?

So Qin Wan searched the Wang family yard again.

This time, she was more careful than last time, and finally found a compartment in the cupboard in the corner near the kitchen. Inside the compartment was a small package wrapped in oil paper.

There, Qin Wan found two more passbooks, one with a deposit of 8,000 yuan and the other with a deposit of 15,000 yuan.

Qin Wan looked at the two passbooks and thought to himself: How could Wang Huafei be so good at hiding things? He hid the passbooks in the kitchen! Why didn't he hide them in the toilet?

Outhouse?

Qin Wan suddenly had an idea and decided to go to Wang's toilet to explore.

Sure enough, she found a cellar about one meter away from the toilet. There were more than ten boxes in it. It was estimated that there were either gold, silver, jewelry, agate, jade, etc.

Although many antiques, calligraphy, and paintings have been vandalized and looted since the movement began, those with real vision still collect these items. Wang Huafei is likely a scheming individual and will definitely not pass up this opportunity to make a fortune.

Of course, there are many valuable items hidden here. In addition to stacks of brand new Great Unity banknotes, there is also a small box of various bills.

Qin Wan put all of this into the space without hesitation.

After completing these tasks, Qin Wan still felt a little regretful. Her reason for coming here wasn't simply to pursue material wealth like money, but more importantly, to find evidence of Wang Huafei's crimes. Only with solid evidence could she successfully overthrow Wang Huafei and punish his despicable nephew, Wang Hu.

However, to her disappointment, apart from some cash and a box of small yellow croaker, she couldn't find any other useful clues. This left her perplexed. Was her guess wrong? Or was Wang Huafei hiding too well?

Unwilling to give up, Qin Wan decided to return to the town government and personally search Wang Huafei's office. After a thorough search, she still couldn't find any evidence linking Wang Huafei to a crime. This left her lost in thought: What could have gone wrong? Why couldn't she find the crucial evidence?

Qin Wan glanced at the clock in her space and saw that it was already past two in the morning. She knew she couldn't delay any longer, as if she did, she might run into early risers on her way back.

So she quickly left Wang's house, took out her bicycle from the space, rode it and rushed towards Hongqi Road.

On the way, Qin Wan rode her bicycle so fast that the only sound was the whirring of the wind. What should have been an hour's ride, she arrived home in just 20 minutes.

Qin Wan's action didn't fully achieve its intended goal, but it did give Wang Huafei a fright, and if it helped him become more restrained in the future, it was a positive development. As for the other matters, she needed to investigate further.

Overall, she couldn't believe that a man who raised his nephew to be a gangster could be innocent himself.

Moreover, based on what Wang Huafei's wife said, it can be inferred that he is a gigolo who relied on nepotism to get to the top. Such a person, in order to change his image as a dinner man, usually will frantically seek benefits for himself once he gets to the top and has power, in order to prove his ability to the world.

After returning home, Qin Wan entered the space to rest without hesitation. Although the sleep time was not long, she still felt happy and refreshed when she woke up the next morning.

After getting up, she cooked a pot of millet and pumpkin porridge, cut some pickles, and took out two steamed buns from her space, enjoying a delicious breakfast. Then, she headed to the brigade headquarters.
