Qin Wan seized the opportunity, his long staff wielding like a snake emerging from its lair, pressing hard with each blow. Shi Huaizhong was caught between a rock and a hard place, facing danger on every side. Knowing he was no match for Qin Wan, he began to consider retreating. But he didn't dare show it, fearing it would put him in even greater danger.
Just as he was hesitating, the long stick in Qin Wan's hand suddenly fell like lightning and hit Shi Huaizhong's back hard.
"ah!"
The intense pain made Shi Huaizhong scream. He turned his head and saw the long stick being swung again. He was shocked, but it was too late to dodge. He just turned his head slightly and the stick fell down.
"ah!"
Shi Huaizhong screamed again.
When he looked up, he saw Qin Wan with a fierce look in his eyes. His expression was cold and his eyes were filled with hatred. Suddenly, he wanted to scream as if he had seen a ghost, but the other party stepped forward and hit him on the legs with a stick. With a "kaba" sound, his legs were broken instantly.
"ah!"
There was another scream, and then everything returned to calm.
It turned out that Qin Wan quickly knocked Shi Huaizhong unconscious with a knife.
She looked at Shi Huaizhong who had fainted on the ground, and a hint of pleasure from revenge flashed in her eyes, but more of it was sadness and helplessness.
In her previous life, the original owner died at his hands. In this life, if she hadn't traveled through time, she would probably die at his hands as well.
Seeing the man bent over in pain on the ground, like a shrimp with its thread pulled out, with his legs bent at weird angles, Qin Wan felt no sympathy at all, but instead felt very happy.
She avenged the original owner once again.
She bent down and quickly took the unconscious man on the ground into the space. Then, as usual, she walked to the gate of the yard with ease and gently closed and locked the door.
Then, she walked into the house slowly, closed and locked the door again, and finally went back to bed to continue sleeping.
After everything was ready, Qin Wan sighed secretly. It seemed that he still needed to work harder. He couldn't even hit a scum like Shi Huaizhong with one strike.
If it were still the end of the world, she wouldn't have to go through so much trouble.
Even in her dreams, she was thinking about how to plant some plants around the yard to add beauty and safety.
The next morning, warm sunlight shone through the gaps in the curtains and onto Qin Wan's fair face.
She slowly opened her eyes, recalling the thrilling moment of last night, and a trace of fear welled up in her heart. If she hadn't been awake yet, or if she hadn't been alert enough, Shi Huaizhong might have succeeded.
She quickly got up from the bed, washed up quickly, and started preparing breakfast without stopping.
First, she opened the cupboard and carefully took out two eggs. With a gentle tap, the eggshells cracked and the egg white and yolk flowed into the bowl.
Then she scooped out two small spoonfuls of flour and slowly poured it into the egg liquid. She picked up the chopsticks and stirred it skillfully until they were completely blended together and set it aside.
Then she lit the stove and heated the iron pan. When the steam in the pan evaporated, she carefully poured in a little oil, then poured two spoonfuls of batter into the pan and gently spread it evenly on the bottom of the pan.
In a moment, a golden and crispy pancake was quietly born.
She continued to cook three soft, sweet, and springy pancakes, and finally prepared a bowl of steaming soy milk for herself.
Finally, a nutritious and simple breakfast was ready. She enjoyed the delicious food contentedly, feeling the satisfaction it brought.
After finishing her meal, she neatly cleared away the dishes, tidied up the kitchen, and then headed to the brigade headquarters to receive her assignment for the day. Thus, a new day officially began.
When she stepped out of her house and arrived at the brigade headquarters, she originally thought that the atmosphere might be a little unusual because a living person had been lost in the village.
However, the reality is that although Shi Huaizhong has disappeared, the whole village has not been disturbed at all. It is as if he has never existed, and life is still as peaceful as before.
The villagers still gathered in groups of three or five, whispering to each other. Their eyes were full of suspicion, prying eyes, and intrigue, but none of them were about Shi Huaizhong.
"How is this possible?" Qin Wan couldn't help but mutter to himself, "Could it be that when a living person is missing, no one cares? When did the farmers' awareness become so low and they have no bottom line?"
Qin Wan's doubts grew heavier, and she decided to look for some clues.
She found several villagers with whom she had a good relationship, hoping to hear some news about Shi Huaizhong from them.
However, to her disappointment, none of the villagers seemed to mention Shi Huaizhong on their own initiative.
"What's going on? Is Shi Huaizhong so insignificant?" Qin Wan muttered to himself.
But she didn't dare to ask about it. She was afraid that when people found out that Shi Huaizhong was missing, they would suspect her.
Despite this, hard work pays off, and through her careful observation, she still learned something about Shi Huaizhong.
It turned out that Shi Huaizhong's parents were both orphaned, and he was a well-known double-dealer. Except for his few cronies, almost no one else was willing to mention him, as they thought he was unlucky.
"No wonder no one wants to talk about him!" Qin Wan suddenly realized.
Furthermore, as a street urchin, it was not uncommon for Shi Huaizhong to be away from work in the village. Especially recently, he had been in town almost every day, appearing only once or twice when he needed something from home.
"So that's how it is..." Qin Wan nodded thoughtfully.
Knowing the reason, Qin Wan felt relieved:
