Chapter 160 Delivering Food

"Grandma, I want to eat meat. This is the family. They are cooking meat. It smells so good. Grandma, please knock on the door. I want to eat meat."

Hearing this voice, Lu Yu's face darkened.

He had heard that Captain Xie's mother often brought her grandson to eat for free. Wherever there was good food, there would be the figures of Mrs. Xie and her grandson. He had never expected that today they would come to his house for a free meal.

Sure enough, an old voice said next: "Don't worry, child, grandma will get it for you."

Then, the gate of Qin Wan's house was knocked.

Lu Yu stood there without moving, just looking at the gate coldly.

Qin Wan was a little helpless. She knew the situation of the Xie family and Mrs. Xie's character, but she didn't want to make things difficult for Lu Yu.

So she walked over and opened the gate.

Standing outside the door were a woman in her sixties and a chubby little boy of six or seven years old. They were Captain Xie's mother and son.

When Old Lady Xie saw Qin Wan, she smiled ingratiatingly, "Lu Yu's family, we can smell the delicious meat from your house. Can you let us have some?"

Qin Wan glanced at the little boy behind Mrs. Xie and saw that he was drooling and staring at his own kitchen, where there was a plate of fragrant braised pork just out of the pot.

Qin Wan sighed inwardly. She knew that the Xie family was not in financial difficulty and that Captain Xie's salary was not low, so she did not understand the behavior of Mrs. Xie and her grandson.

She turned around and looked at Lu Yu, who was also looking at her.

The couple understood each other's thoughts and exchanged glances, with sly smiles on their faces at the same time.

Qin Wan took a look at the food he had prepared, quickly took a plate, scooped out some braised pork from the pot, and picked some from other prepared dishes, filling up half a bowl in total, and asked Lu Yu to send it out.

Lu Yu walked out of the house with the food in his hand. Seeing the grandfather and grandson still standing at the door, he smiled and said to them, "Come on, the food is still hot. I'll take it home for you."

The old lady was a little anxious when she heard this. If Captain Lu was asked to personally deliver the food to her son's house, her son would lose all face.

After all, her son was the head of a battalion, and his salary and benefits were not bad, but she was taking her grandson to eat everywhere. Isn't this a disgrace to her son? Thinking of this, the old lady waved her hands and said anxiously:

"No need, Captain Lu, just give me the bowl. No need to bother you making another trip. I'll bring it to you, I'll bring it to you!"

As she spoke, the old lady stretched out her hand to take the bowl from Lu Yu's hand. However, Lu Yu did not let go of her hand, but instead smiled and explained:

"It's okay, old lady. You're old and your legs aren't very handy, so let me help you carry it back."

After saying that, he ignored the old lady's attempt to stop him and walked straight towards her house.

Then he stretched out his long legs and walked forward.

Leaving the embarrassed old lady and her little grandson standing there.

Old Mrs. Xie trotted after them, pulling her grandson along. Along the way, they met many military families. They looked at the three people in front and behind with understanding expressions.

One of the women, who was in her sixties, smiled and said to Mrs. Xie, "Sister Xie, we're in for a treat today. When can you share your experience with everyone? How did you find the right place to cook this delicious food?"

Old Mrs. Xie looked up at the woman in her sixties and sneered:

"Mrs. Liu, you ask me what experience I have? Actually, there's no experience to share. All I need is for your daughter-in-law to give birth to a grandson."

Mrs. Liu was speechless. Her daughter-in-law had already given birth to two daughters and was pregnant again. She hoped desperately that she could give her a grandson, but no one could be sure of the boy or girl. She didn't dare to bring up the baby in her daughter-in-law's belly. She had no choice but to endure it.

The smile on Old Lady Liu's face was a little stiff. She forced a smile and said sarcastically, "Haha, your grandson is indeed smart and lovable!"

Mrs. Xie seemed not to understand and smiled smugly:

"Of course, my grandson is the smartest!" Old Mrs. Xie continued to taunt, "Hmph, Old Mrs. Liu, stop pretending to be nice. Don't I know what you're thinking? You're just hoping your daughter-in-law can give you a big fat boy!"

Mrs. Liu blushed and didn't know how to respond. The other military relatives gathered around and tried to persuade her:

"Oh, Aunt Xie, Aunt Liu, don't be angry, just go back home."

Mrs. Xie did not appreciate it and continued coldly:

"Humph, you people always like to meddle in other people's business. I'm just telling you the truth. You haven't even cleaned your own ass yet, and you still have the time to talk nonsense. Do you think I can't hear it? Let me tell you, I understand it better than any of you."

After saying that, she pulled her grandson and hurried away, leaving everyone looking at each other in bewilderment.

Six-year-old Xie Xiaopang also echoed: "My grandma knows everything."

Seeing that no one responded, Mrs. Xie couldn't help but feel proud. Look, what's wrong with eating and drinking for free? She relies on her own strength, and they dare not say anything.

Thinking of this, Mrs. Xie was like a victorious rooster, holding her head high and chest out, looking at the other party triumphantly.

However, when her eyes fell on Captain Lu who was almost reaching her doorstep, her face instantly became gloomy, as if someone had poured a basin of cold water on her, and she became dejected.

"Why doesn't Captain Lu listen to me?" Old Mrs. Xie muttered to herself, with a look of dissatisfaction on her face.
