Chapter 183 Old Lady

The two warriors sighed and said helplessly:

"Alas! No wonder that old lady doesn't care about her family at all. She is also a miserable person!

She lost her mother at a young age and had to live with her stepmother. Every day, she got up earlier than a chicken, slept later than a dog, worked harder than an ox, and ate less than a sparrow. Even so, she was still despised by her family.

They continued sighing:

"Later, her parents cruelly sold her to the mountains in exchange for a bride price in order to find a wife for her stepbrother. In the mountains, she became a tool for reproduction and was often abused by the man.

Later, her man actually wanted her to take on other men to earn money to support the family. She pretended to agree, but in fact she took the opportunity to escape from this hellish place.

The two recalled, their voices becoming deeper and deeper:

"She finally managed to escape from the mountains, but collapsed on the road due to exhaustion. Fortunately, she was found by her future husband and brought home.

She was so grateful that she decided to marry this kind man. They supported each other and spent a year or two in love.

However, fate always seems to like to play tricks on people. Just when she was enjoying her happiness, misfortune quietly came. Her man suddenly fell ill and his health deteriorated.

In order to treat her husband's illness, she ran around to borrow money, but both her parents' family and her in-laws were sarcastic and refused to lend her even a penny.

Faced with such a situation, she felt helpless and desperate.

Due to lack of sufficient funds for treatment, her husband eventually passed away.

What made her even more heartbroken was that her husband's family not only did not show her any sympathy, but instead took away all her and her husband's belongings.

This series of blows completely plunged her into despair.

Because of all the pain and setbacks she had experienced, my wife was filled with deep hatred towards her relatives and neighbors.

She felt abandoned by everyone, so she chose to sell out her country for personal gain and became a lackey of the enemy. This decision led her down a path of no return and also made her bear a heavy infamy.

Hearing this, Ge Xiuxiu couldn't help but sigh: "The old lady is really pitiful."

Qin Wan retorted, "No matter how much suffering she endured, it cannot be an excuse for betraying her motherland."

Director Luo agreed and said, "That's right!"

After the two soldiers completed their tasks, they chatted for a while and then left.

When Qin Wan returned home, it was already dark. She took off her backpack and hurried to the kitchen to wash the pot and boil water.

Just as she lit the fire, a head appeared at the kitchen door. When she looked up, she saw:

"Zhou Ya, is there something wrong?"

It turned out that she was the daughter of our next-door neighbors, Political Commissar Wang Zhiqiang and Doctor Zhou Ju.

Zhou Ya looked at Qin Wan with a hint of curiosity in her eyes, but she still asked politely, "Sister, my mother asked me to ask if you have any soy sauce at home? We are out of it."

Qin Wan smiled and replied, "Yes, please wait a moment." As she said that, she stood up, took out a bottle of soy sauce from the cupboard and handed it to Zhou Ya.

Zhou Ya took the soy sauce bottle and smiled happily, "Thank you, sister. I'll go back first." After that, she turned around and left the kitchen and went back home.

Qin Wan continued to busy herself, preparing to cook. At that time, Zhou Ya came back. Qin Wan was very surprised: "What's wrong? Yaya."

"It's okay, Aunt Qin, I just miss you. I feel like every day has been like three years." This aunt was very gentle, at least gentler than her biological mother. She didn't really want to go home.

Qin Wan felt that she knew what the child wanted to say, so she asked her jokingly:

"Little friend, are you trying to say that a day without seeing you feels like three years?"

"Yes, yes, auntie is so smart, that's what I meant." Zhou Yaren was a smart boy who started praising Qin Wan.

"Thank you Xiaoya for the compliment. Zhouya, you miss me, and I miss you too."

As Qin Wan spoke, she took out a few candies and handed them to Zhou Ya. Zhou Ya smiled happily when she saw the candies. She looked at Qin Wan with eyes full of love and dependence on her: "Auntie, are these candies for me?"

"Well, of course. Xiaoya missed me and praised me, so of course I have to repay her. But..."

Qin Wan gently stroked Zhou Ya's hair and felt the warmth in her heart, but before she could finish her words, Zhou Ya took the initiative to draw again:

"But I can't eat them all at once. I have to take them one a day, or I'll have a toothache later, right?"

After saying that, little Zhou Ya rolled her eyes at Qin Wan, which made Qin Wan burst into laughter.

"Yes," Qin Wan nodded with a smile, looking at Zhou Ya with gentle eyes, "You are so smart. You guessed what I wanted to say right away."

When Zhou Ya heard the compliment, her eyes sparkled and she said excitedly:

"Of course. My mom told me not to eat too much candy because it would get worms in my teeth. She only lets me eat one candy a day, otherwise she'll spank me."

After saying that, she carefully took the candy from Qin Wan's hand and looked at it carefully.

"So good." Qin Wan's lips curled up in a gratified smile. This child had really been taught to be as sensible as a little adult.

Zhou Ya happily put the candy into her pocket, then looked up at Qin Wan and praised sincerely:

"Auntie, you are so nice, beautiful and gentle." As she said this, her eyes were full of love and appreciation.

Qin Wan chuckled, touched Zhou Ya's head, and responded, "You look pretty too." She found that Zhou Ya was a very cute, smart and grateful child, and a warm feeling welled up in her heart.

As the two were immersed in the atmosphere of praising each other, Zhou Ju came over, saw the candy in her daughter's hand, and gently scolded her:

"Zhou Ya, you're bothering your Aunt Qin again."

Zhou Ya quickly shook her head and explained:

"Mom, I didn't bother my aunt. I missed my aunt and she missed me too. Just now, my aunt said that I was smart and beautiful." Her face was filled with happiness and satisfaction.

Zhou Ju smiled helplessly, a hint of fondness flashed in her eyes, and she looked at Qin Wan and said, "This child is just very naughty." There was a hint of doting and tolerance in her tone, as if she was accustomed to the child's mischief.

Qin Wan responded with a smile:

"Nothing, sister-in-law, I just like children. They are innocent and always bring endless joy."

Her eyes sparkled with love for the children.

Zhou Ju asked curiously, "Do you like children?"

Qin Wan didn't notice anything unusual at all, and nodded without hesitation.

"Yes, look at how good your Zhou Ya is, so well-behaved and sensible."

Zhou Ju smiled and joked, "In that case, I'll give my child to you."

Qin Wan also joked, "That's fine, as long as you're willing to give it up."

Zhou Ju pretended to think seriously, then turned to Zhou Ya and asked, "How about I give you to your Aunt Qin to be her child?"
