Chapter 289 Eavesdropping

Qin Wan concentrated and pursed her lips tightly, afraid of making even the slightest sound.

She opened her eyes wide, and through the almost imperceptible gap, she peered at the approaching group with full concentration and caution.

These people were of different heights, weights and bodies. Some were short, with shriveled faces, as if time had drained all the moisture out of them; some were tall and thin, like a thin bamboo pole; and some had weathered faces, with deep and shallow wrinkles crisscrossing like ravines.

They met the "old lady" and reported the results of their actions:

"Boss, the south is safe."

"Boss, there's no danger to the west!"

"Boss..."

It turned out that these people were just checking the surroundings for the old lady. It seemed that this old lady was of very noble status.

Qin Wan's eyes were as sharp as torches, examining each person's face one by one.

Suddenly, her eyes fixed on one of the short men, or to be more precise, on his profile.

In an instant, she felt her heart skip a beat!

An indescribable feeling of familiarity surged in her heart. The profile of this man was surprisingly similar to someone in her memory.

At the same time, the old lady seemed to have realized something. Her originally cloudy eyes suddenly became extremely sharp, and she scanned the surroundings sharply like an eagle.

Her gaze seemed to be able to penetrate layers of fog and disguises and reach the most secret corners of anyone's heart.

"I feel like someone is spying on us."

The old lady spoke in a low voice, but her words contained an authority that could not be ignored, as if she had seen through everything.

Qin Wan's heart suddenly trembled, and a chill instantly rose up her spine. She didn't dare to hesitate for a moment. After taking a deep breath, she shook her body and flashed into the space like a ghost.

When the men heard the noise, their faces changed suddenly and they became extremely alert in an instant.

They just looked at each other, then quickly dispersed, like well-trained hunting dogs, and began to conduct a thorough carpet search of the surroundings.

They searched extremely carefully, not leaving out any inch of land or any corner. Even the smallest clue would not escape their sharp eyes and sensitive sense of smell.

However, no matter how hard they tried, Qin Wan, who had already hidden in space, seemed to have disappeared out of thin air and was nowhere to be seen.

The old lady stood quietly there, her eyes, which had experienced many vicissitudes of life, were gazing into the distance, deep and distant, as if she was pondering something unknown.

Although the men who were busy searching had a trace of fatigue on their faces that was hard to conceal, there was still a firm and loyal light flashing in the depths of their eyes, as if they would never stop as long as they could not find the target person.

Just as the tense atmosphere was filling the air, suddenly, a slight noise came from a towering tree outside the cave.

Then, a mighty eagle flapped its wings and soared into the sky. It circled in the air, let out a low cry, and then flew away into the distance.

Seeing this scene, the originally nervous people couldn't help but smile at each other:

"So that's what it is! No wonder I felt like there was a pair of sharp eyes watching us from the dark. It turns out it's because the eagle's eyes are so sharp!"

However, although everyone breathed a sigh of relief, the old lady still had a trace of doubt in her heart. However, she finally chose to remain silent and continued to observe the movements around her.

"Boss, when can we start implementing our plan?" The short, unattractive guy was the first to break the silence and asked anxiously.

The mysterious figure, dressed as an old lady but with a deep, male voice, frowned and responded impatiently:

"What's the rush? Just do your part first. When the time is right to implement the plan, someone will naturally notify you. Don't run around like a headless chicken all day, asking useless questions!"

Seeing this, the others wanted to ask about the matter, but they swallowed the words back. They muttered to themselves:

This boss seems really angry today, it’s better not to provoke him.

For a moment, the scene fell into a suffocating silence. Everyone looked at each other, no one dared to say a word.

After a long while, the old lady spoke again:

"If you don't have anything particularly urgent, try not to come to me from now on, lest someone with ulterior motives discover your intentions and reveal your true intentions. Do you understand?"

At this time, a tall and thin man in the crowd said cautiously:

"Boss, didn't you mention before that someone seemed to be secretly targeting you? If you really encounter any dangerous situation, why don't you stay out of the spotlight and hide for a while. Our plan can be postponed at most. Safety comes first."

Who knew that as soon as these words came out, the old lady suddenly became furious, her eyes widened and she roared:

"Bullshit! Kuwata-kun, we've gone through countless setbacks and failures to get to this point. Are we going to back down just because of a minor disturbance? Absolutely not! No matter how great the difficulties and obstacles are, this plan must proceed as planned. There must not be any delays!"
