Chapter 316: Trip to Tibet (I)

Qin Wan looked at Lu Yu curiously and asked softly, "Then how did you change?"

Lu Yu frowned slightly, as if he was lost in some unpleasant memories. His face still had a hint of fear. After a moment of silence, he slowly spoke:

"Did I tell you? Actually, I once won the title of 'King of Soldiers' in the National Military Competition!"

Hearing this, Qin Wan nodded and responded:

"Of course, you told me that. When we first met, you couldn't wait to show off to me that you had won this honor for three consecutive years!"

Lu Yu smiled bitterly and continued to recount his experience:

"Indeed, it's precisely because of my experience that I was chosen for this mission. Fourteen other comrades are also participating in this operation. They are also special forces soldiers who have been awarded the title of 'King of Soldiers' nationwide."

Qin Wan couldn't help but take a breath and asked worriedly:

"With such a powerful lineup, this mission must be very dangerous, right?"

Her face was instantly filled with worry.

Lu Yu nodded heavily and replied:

"Yes, indeed."

"I remember you went out in a car with other soldiers this time. What happened?"

"I went on a mission with many soldiers, but I immediately relocated after arriving at my destination. My companions, on the other hand, continued on with a relatively ordinary mission."

He paused, took a deep breath, and continued, "Speaking of that mission, it was truly thrilling! If we had simply faced some natural or man-made difficulties and dangers, we wouldn't have retreated in fear. But we encountered an extraordinary supernatural phenomenon that was completely inexplicable by science! If it weren't for a lama who could exorcise ghosts, you and I would have very likely turned to dust during that mission."

"Did you encounter a ghost?" Qin Wan asked in surprise, his eyes wide open, as if he couldn't believe what he heard.

"How do you know?" Lu Yu asked back with a suspicious look on his face, secretly wondering why Qin Wan could guess it so easily.

"That's what you just said." Qin Wan smiled lightly and explained.

In fact, when she saw Lu Yu's uneasy look, she realized that something was wrong.

She knew very well that if Lu Yu continued to bottle up these fears and anxieties in his heart, it might have a negative impact on his psychology over time.

So, she decided to guide Lu Yu to tell everything in detail to help him release the inner pressure.

"What's going on? Please tell me everything. Although I have always believed in ghosts, I have never seen one with my own eyes, let alone a real ghost hunting scene!"

Qin Wan blinked her big curious eyes and spoke softly.

Lu Yu hesitated for a moment, then nodded and said slowly:

"Well, alright then, since you want to hear it, I'll tell you. But...don't be scared when I tell you."

After saying this, he took a deep breath, as if he was trying to muster up the courage to recall that horrible night.

Ever since that night, Lu Yu felt like a huge rock was weighing down his heart, and he couldn't let it go. The feeling of depression and repression followed him everywhere, tormenting him greatly.

And now, facing his gentle and considerate wife, he finally had the opportunity to tell her about this terrifying experience.

Lu Yu lowered his head slightly, staring at the ceiling. His eyes revealed an indescribable complex emotion, like a bottomless lake, making it difficult to glimpse the mystery within.

After a long while, he finally looked at Qin Wan, and then slowly recounted that little-known experience in a low and magnetic voice.

"We suddenly received an urgent mission that day. Our superiors ordered us to rush to Tibet immediately to rescue an important hostage who had been kidnapped."

Lu Yu's tone was calm, but it faintly revealed a sense of urgency and mission.

Qin Wan nodded slightly, indicating that he was listening carefully.

Her beautiful eyes were now fixed on Lu Yu's face, as if she wanted to see through his expression and words, through the barriers of time and space, and witness that distant and mysterious land with her own eyes.

Lu Yu continued:

"As you've probably heard, the vast expanse of Tibet is shrouded in mystery. It's majestic and imposing, and every inch of it holds endless, unknown power. When we set foot on this land, we felt both excited and nervous."

At this point, Lu Yu paused for a moment, as if recalling the complicated feelings he had at the time. Then, he took a deep breath and continued:

"We trudged along the rugged mountain road with great difficulty. The road beneath our feet was covered with gravel and thorns, and it was easy to fall and get injured. However, everyone had only one firm thought in their hearts - to find the hostages as soon as possible and ensure that they could be brought back safely."

"Just as we were approaching the target area, a rare snowstorm suddenly broke out, blurring our vision and making progress extremely difficult.

Just then, we met a lama. He was walking alone in the snow, wearing a heavy robe and holding a string of shimmering Buddhist beads in his hand.

When Lu Yu reached this point, his words stopped abruptly, as if his throat was strangled by an invisible force.

He tilted his head slightly, his gaze fixed on the distance, as if trying to calm his turbulent thoughts. The brief silence made the air around them heavy.
