Qin Wan shook her head slightly and covered the back of Lu Yu's hand with her other hand.
"Brother Yu, don't say that. I know you work to give us a better life. And every time you come back, you try your best to play with the children and talk to me. I see all of this and remember it in my heart."
The two smiled at each other, as if at this moment, all their fatigue and worries disappeared.
They snuggled together, watching the children rolling and laughing on the carpet, their hearts filled with endless happiness and satisfaction.
The next morning, the sky was still shrouded in cold, and the biting cold wind whistled past, as if penetrating people's bones.
However, for Qin Wan and Lu Yu, such low temperatures did not affect their mood at all.
When the dawn broke, the couple got up early, had a simple breakfast, quickly picked up the two heavy backpacks, and resolutely set out on the journey to the mountains.
The sunlight struggled to penetrate the dense and layered treetops, casting pieces of fine and mottled light and shadows, like golden silk spread on the winding mountain path.
Lu Yu and Qin Wan walked side by side, their steps light and steady, each step carried with clear purpose and determination.
As the body moved, the backpack on the back swayed gently, making a slight friction sound.
It contained some simple but practical hunting tools, as well as a small amount of dry food that could provide a short-term energy boost.
Although it was winter, the sounds of birdsong could still be heard from time to time in the mountains and forests, and occasionally, from a distance, the faint gurgling sound of a rushing stream could be heard.
These sounds, like a beautiful piece of music played by nature, add a bit of vitality and vigor to this originally quiet and peaceful mountain.
One has to admire Lu Yu and Qin Wan, both of whom are extraordinary in their skills. Even when walking on such a rugged and undulating mountain road, they can still walk briskly and easily as if they were walking on flat ground.
Qin Wan was walking when she suddenly seemed to have discovered something. She stopped quickly and her eyes were fixed on the ground.
She bent down and swiftly picked up a medium-sized stone from the ground. Then, with a swing of her arm, she hurled the stone towards a bush not far away.
Her eyes sparkled with excitement, as if she had foreseen what was about to happen.
As the stone smashed into the bushes, the only sound was the flapping of wings. The sound was quite rapid at first, but after only a few beats, the surroundings returned to calm.
Seeing this, Lu Yu, who was standing aside, immediately became alert.
He first looked around cautiously, and after confirming that there was nothing else unusual, he walked cautiously towards the bushes.
As he approached the bushes, Lu Yu slowed down his pace and gently used his hands to push aside the layers of branches and leaves. When he saw the scene clearly, he couldn't help but smile with joy.
I saw a colorful pheasant with bright feathers lying straight on the ground, already dead. It still kept the posture of lowering its head and pecking at the wild fruits on the ground, looking very peaceful.
Lu Yu squatted down happily, reached out to pick up the pheasant, and threw it into the backpack behind him.
Then, he stood up, gave Qin Wan a thumbs-up with a smile on his face, and praised: "Great, Wan Wan!"
Hearing her husband's praise, Qin Wan's face bloomed with a bright smile, as beautiful as a flower blooming in spring.
She smiled back without any shyness, indicating that she gladly accepted the compliment from her lover.
Then, the two continued walking along the mountain road side by side.
At this moment, a sudden mountain wind blew past, causing the bushes on the roadside to sway gently.
The other two pheasants that were originally quietly perched in the bushes seemed to have sensed the potential danger. They suddenly raised their heads and spread their wings in panic, ready to fly away.
"One for each person," Qin Wan said, and a stone was thrown out.
With his agility and sharp eyes, Lu Yu quickly bent down to pick up the stone on the ground and threw it out with lightning speed.
In an instant, two sharp sounds of "whoosh" and "whoosh" were heard, and the stone rushed away like an arrow, piercing the slender necks of the two pheasants with incredible precision.
The pheasants that were hit in the vitals first struggled in pain for a few times, flapping their wings and raising a cloud of dust, but soon their strength receded like the tide, and finally they fell to the ground powerlessly, motionless.
Seeing this scene, Qin Wan, who was standing aside, couldn't help but be overjoyed. She couldn't help but clap her hands and exclaimed loudly:
"Yu, what a great technique! It's amazing!"
Her pretty face flushed with excitement, her eyes sparkled with admiration and surprise, and the corners of her mouth involuntarily rose up, blooming into a joyful smile as bright as a flower.
Hearing Qin Wan's praise, Lu Yu also showed a satisfied smile on his face. He nodded slightly and responded modestly:
"Thank you very much. You are very good." As he spoke, his deep and bright eyes were always fixed on the two pheasants lying on the ground not far ahead.
Immediately afterwards, Lu Yu took a step forward and walked towards the location of the two pheasants.
His steps were steady and powerful yet light and elegant, and each step seemed so calm and confident.
The two pheasants had brightly colored feathers and plump bodies, making them prime prey. Lu Yu gently placed them in the bamboo basket behind him.
