Chapter 495 Returning Home

"The minefield we just bypassed was stepped on by the enemy spies themselves. They were unlucky. Two spies were arguing, and one of them got angry and punched the other. Unexpectedly, the other spies were caught off guard and took a few steps back, entering the minefield. Even if the others realized the danger and wanted to avoid it, it was too late."

"Serves them right!" Everyone roared with laughter, the sound echoing in the air. This laughter was both a mockery of the enemy's plight and a rare moment of lightness in the tense atmosphere.

At this time, a team member asked, "Are there any survivors?" His eyes were full of anticipation, hoping to obtain some useful information from this operation.

The man in charge of inspecting the scene shook his head and replied, "Nothing found," in a calm and decisive tone.

"Thanks to the captain's keen sense, if he hadn't noticed the anomaly in time, we would have stepped directly into the minefield. The consequences would be unimaginable!"

Another team member said with lingering fear.

Hearing this, someone nodded in agreement and sighed, "Yeah, now that you mention it, I'm really a little scared when I think about it."

Everyone originally planned to take a short rest before continuing on their journey, but this sudden explosion completely disrupted the original plan.

Everyone's nerves were instantly tense, and they knew that the danger of the environment they were in had greatly increased.

Without Lu Yu giving any orders, everyone tacitly raised their vigilance.

The originally tired bodies seemed to be re-injected with strength. Everyone gave up resting without hesitation and rushed straight to the rendezvous point.

Along the way, no one spoke, only the sound of hurried footsteps and heavy breathing intertwined. Time passed by minute by minute, and each step seemed particularly long.

After more than half an hour of arduous trekking and urgent marching, Lu Yu and his companions finally saw the people waiting for their arrival. They felt like they had seen the light in the darkness, and an indescribable joy surged in their hearts.

Finally, with the close cooperation of both sides, all the enemy spies were successfully escorted to the vehicle, and the mission was successfully completed. At this moment, everyone breathed a sigh of relief, with relieved smiles on their faces.

"Hurry up, these spies can't get away. Although we have obtained the most important secrets, we still have to interrogate them!"

Lu Yu completed the task and walked quickly home. At this moment, he felt mixed emotions.

The closer he got to home, the more timid he became. Lu Yu's footsteps seemed both anxious and heavy on his way home.

Having completed his mission, he should have been on his way home with joy, but at this moment, his heart was filled with indescribable emotions.

After being away from home for many days, his longing for his family surged like a tide, making him eager to see his family as soon as possible, but also afraid to face the long-lost family affection.

"I wonder if the kids still remember me?"

Lu Yu smiled as he thought of the cute quadruplets.

"I've been away from home for so long, I wonder if Wanwan misses me." he thought.

When he thought of his wife, his heart softened into a puddle of water. Her smile was gentle and lovely, brave and strong. Whenever he thought of her, his heart was inexplicably filled with happiness and warmth.

As he got closer to home, he could almost hear the sounds of children playing and smell the aroma of food wafting from every household. All of this made his heart soften and even more anxious.

Finally, he stood at the door of his house.

That familiar door now seemed like an insurmountable chasm, separating him from home.

He took a deep breath, trying to calm his heart, but the moment his fingers lightly touched the door, he couldn't help but tremble.

He pushed open the door, and the people inside immediately looked out.

"Big Treasure, Second Treasure, Third Treasure, Fourth Treasure!"

Lu Yu called the quadruplets' names.

He looked exhausted, but the tenderness and smile in his eyes could not be concealed.

"dad!"

As soon as the quadruplets saw him come in, they ran over like four happy little birds, surrounded his feet, chirping, full of excitement and anticipation.

"Dad, Dad, throw us away!"

Dabao looked up at Lu Yu, his eyes twinkling with stars, and his little hands tightly grasped the corner of Lu Yu's clothes, as if he was afraid that he would disappear in the blink of an eye.

Lu Yu handed his backpack to Qin Wan who came out to greet him, bent down with a smile, picked up the quadruplets one by one, and lined them up in the shape of a small train.

Their laughter is crisp and pleasant, like the dewdrops on a summer morning, crystal clear and refreshing.

Then he picked up Dabao and asked:

"Are you ready? One, two, three!"

Before Lu Yu finished speaking, he gently threw Dabao high into the air and caught him steadily.

Dabao drew a graceful arc in the air, and his screams were filled with endless joy and excitement.

Next came Erbao, Sanbao, and Xiaobao. They took turns experiencing the thrill of flying, and the smiles on their faces were brighter than the sunshine.

Whenever they were caught by Lu Yu, they would giggle as if this was the happiest moment in the world.

The quadruplets were having a blast, and Lu Yu's face was filled with doting. He savored this simple joy, as if all his fatigue and worries had vanished in that moment.

"Dad, higher! Higher!" Xiaobao waved his hands excitedly, his eyes full of challenge and desire.

Lu Yu smiled and nodded, increasing the force of the toss. Xiaobao seemed to have turned into a free-flying bird in the air, feeling indescribably happy.

In the living room, Qin Wan and Aunt Yu listened to their laughter, smiled at each other, and went into the kitchen to prepare dinner.
