Chapter 87 Revenge

Captain Shi's heart was filled with pain and helplessness. You know, he held an extremely important position as a scout in the army.

Logically, with his years of experience and keen insight, he should have been able to easily see through others' minds. Yet, facing Wang Chunfang, he was so dull that he failed to discern her true intentions. Could it be that his eyes were truly covered with chicken shit at that moment?

In reality, if Captain Shi had simply been rejected, he might not have been so angry. After all, love can't be forced, and rejection is a common outcome.

But what he couldn't get over was that Wang Chunfang, despite having clearly rejected him, claimed to have feelings for him and promised to marry him after three years of remaining faithful to her deceased husband. This seemingly affectionate but actually contradictory statement made Captain Shi mistakenly believe that Wang Chunfang was a person who valued love and friendship, and he fell in love with her even more.

Because of this, he even took out a large sum of money from the pension that should have been left to his family just to buy various precious gifts for Wang Chunfang.

Looking back now, this was undoubtedly what bothered him the most.

If all this money had been spent on a sincere and affectionate person, then this expense would have been worth it. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the opposite of what he wanted. He gave everything to a hypocritical, selfish and restless woman.

Such an outcome was really hard to accept, but he was too embarrassed to tell others about it for fear of being laughed at.

This humiliation can only be buried deep in my heart, becoming a pain that can never be expressed in words...

Once, he looked forward to the day three years later when the woman named Wang Chunfang would wear a wedding dress and become his bride.

However, when I think about it now, I can't help but feel an indescribable bitterness in my heart - it's really ridiculous!

Oh, yes, three years later, it seemed that this woman was really going to walk down the aisle with him, and let him play the role of the poor scapegoat.

He knew that Chen Yongming would never marry Wang Chunfang.

Chen Yongming will indeed get married, have children, and always maintain an ambiguous relationship with Wang Chunfang, but this does not mean that he is willing to marry her.

The reason was simple: Chen Yongming looked down on Wang Chunfang. Chen Yongming's mother also scoffed at Wang Chunfang.

He remembered one time when he overheard Chen Yongming talking about Wang Chunfang with a group of men. At that time, one of them curiously asked Chen Yongming whether he would consider marrying Wang Chunfang again since her husband had unfortunately passed away.

Chen Yongming replied with a look of contempt:

"If she were not married, perhaps because of our years of affection, I might be tempted.

But now she's married, having long lost her virginity, and now has a daughter to burden her. I'm a germaphobe, so how could I possibly accept such a used, second-hand item?"

When I heard this, I secretly laughed at Chen Yongming for his lack of vision. Now I think that it was I who had no vision.

Since Wang Chunfang had an affair with Chen Yongming, she should have known what Chen Yongming was thinking. Therefore, although Wang Chunfang was hooking up with Chen Yongming, she did not have the confidence to take Chen Yongming down, so she found a backup for herself, and this backup was Captain Shi Yongfeng.

Thinking of this, Captain Shi felt sick to his stomach. Alas, men are always tempted by beauty. Is this what they call a hero being tempted by beauty?

It's a pity that I am not a hero and Wang Chunfang is not a beauty, but I still fell into such a trap.

Is it really like what grandma said, that I am a star born with bad luck? I am unlucky in marriage and destined to be lonely for life.

But why was there a voice inside him shouting, "I don't believe in fate! I don't believe in fate!! My fate should be in my own hands!"

Captain Shi used to have a filter for Wang Chunfang and consciously blocked some of Wang Chunfang's flaws. Now, the filter is broken and his IQ has gone online.

He rubbed his aching temple, quietly left the chaotic scene of the adultery, and hurried to the brigade headquarters.

He wanted to let the situation get chaotic for a while and then clean up the mess.

On the way, he saw a boy about ten years old. He quickly called him to his side and told him to call Ma Cui'e over and tell her that her beloved second son had been in trouble.

There were some things he couldn't do, like hitting a woman, so he let Ma Cui'e do it for him, letting her vent his anger.

Ma Cui'e was lying on the bed. She heard someone shouting "Fire". She got up and looked, but found that her second son was not at home. She thought that her second son had gone to help put out the fire, so she didn't pay much attention to it.

Suddenly, a child knocked on the door:

"Grandma Chen, please come quickly, my uncle Yongxin is in trouble."

Ma Cui'e was startled when she heard this. She quickly got up from the bed, opened the door, and called out to the child who was calling the door:

"Huzi, what did you say? Who did you say was in trouble?"

"Grandma Chen, something happened to my uncle Yongxin. Please go and take a look."

"What happened?"

"I don't know the details, but it's right where the fire started. I think it's burned. Grandma, you can go over and take a look and you'll know."

After saying that, the boy ran away. He wanted to watch the fun and had no time to listen to the old lady's questions.

When Ma Cui'e heard that her son was in trouble and it was related to fire, she was so scared that she almost fainted.

She quickly ran out of the house, and hearing the noisy voices in the distance, she hurried to the foot of the mountain.
