Extra 19: Qin Ruanruan

Bai Susu tightly grasped the sleeve of the nurse beside her, her eyes filled with anxiety and fear, and she insisted to the nurse in a hoarse voice:

"I'm telling the truth! She's truly a spy, and she's plotting to harm me!

You can't just ignore this. Look at that cup by the bed; the water inside is irrefutable evidence! There's definitely something fishy going on. Maybe there's been some poison or something.

If you don't believe me, go get a detailed test and check it out carefully. Don't miss any details!"

The nurse frowned slightly, a look of helplessness on her face and a hint of disapproval in her eyes.

She muttered to herself:

This patient must have slept too much and her mind is foggy. How could a daughter harm her own mother? It's totally unreasonable.

In the nurse's opinion, the mother is in poor health and doesn't have much time left to live. How could the daughter have the intention to murder her at this time?

Even if there had been some minor frictions and conflicts between mother and daughter before, how deep could the hatred be? It wouldn't escalate to the point of murdering each other.

As the saying goes, blood is thicker than water. No matter how big the hatred is, at this critical moment, shouldn't we just put aside the grudges and laugh it off?

The nurse patted Bai Susu's hand gently and comforted her:

"Auntie, don't worry. Maybe you haven't had enough rest recently and you're hallucinating. Get some sleep first and don't think about these things."

However, Bai Suzhen simply ignored the nurse's advice. Her eyes became more determined and her emotions became more agitated.

She sat up straight, clenched her fists, and even got angry about it. She raised her voice and said loudly:

"You nurses, do you have any sense of responsibility? I've made it so clear. If I tell you to check, you have to check immediately!

You must know that the people's demands are the most important. As a patient, I have truthfully reported my situation to you. This is a sign of my trust in you, so you should take it seriously and not be perfunctory.

If your negligence allowed that malicious spy to succeed, and someone died, could you afford the consequences? "

She became more and more excited as she spoke, her chest heaving violently, as if she wanted to vent all the anger in her heart.

The atmosphere in the ward suddenly became tense.

The nurses didn't think it was a joke at first. You wink at me, I pout at you, and she winks again...

But when Bai Suzhen righteously raised the matter to a political level, they all looked as if they were under a spell, and their expressions became a little flustered.

After all, in that special era, political issues were extremely sensitive, and no one dared to touch this minefield easily.

The head nurse was originally standing in the crowd watching the fun, and her eyes couldn't help but flicker a few times at this moment.

She looked around and saw that the nurses were all focusing their attention on her. She gritted her teeth, mustered up the courage to walk forward, and reached out to take the cup that Bai Suzhen had placed on the bedside cabinet.

She was still thinking secretly in her heart:

I had heard that this female comrade used to work in propaganda. When I saw her today, it was true. No wonder she dragged the matter into the political level in just a few words and made such a big deal out of it.

Oh, forget it, even if it's just for show, I can't let this person catch me. If she really catches me, it will be a big trouble. I might even lose my position as the head nurse.

Just as the head nurse's hand was about to touch the cup, Qin Ruan, who had been standing aside, suddenly moved.

She seemed to have suffered great injustice. She rushed to Bai Susu's hospital bed, lay on it, and tears burst out like a flood.

Her shoulders trembled violently and she let out suppressed sobs, the sound of which was particularly harsh in the silent ward.

Her body lay limply on the bed, blocking the nurse's way to get a cup of water.

The head nurse's outstretched hand hung in mid-air, neither able to advance nor retreat, with a look of embarrassment on her face.

The nurses around were also stunned. They all turned their eyes to Qin Ruanruan, who was lying on the bed crying. Suddenly, they had a bold guess in their hearts:

Could it be that this daughter was picked up?

Qin Runrun's eyes were red and swollen from crying, and tears kept rolling down like beads with broken strings. Her face was full of sorrow, and she sobbed and told Bai Suzhen on the bed about her grievances.

"Woo woo woo... Mom,"

Qin Ruanruan choked with sobs, her voice filled with endless sorrow.

"I know I've never been as good as my second sister. She's so successful. She married a leader with great fanfare. She's a well-known figure in the outside world.

But for me, fate seemed to be playing a huge joke on me. I was sold to the mountains by that evil human trafficker."

She raised her hands while crying and wiped the tears from her face carelessly, revealing her face which had become rough and sallow due to the suffering in the mountains.

"Look at me now, I look like neither human nor ghost. Standing next to my second sister, there is a world of difference.

I know you look down on me now, and I understand that. But, Mom, you can't just frame me for no reason like this! Woo woo woo..."

Her body was trembling slightly, and her hands were tightly clutching the corners of her clothes, as if this could give her some strength.

"Woo, woo, woo, mom, you just said a few words so lightly, it seems like nothing big, but do you know what this means to me? How can I live in this world in the future? If the neighbors hear what you said, what will they think of me?

They will definitely point fingers at me behind my back and say I am a terrible person. Are you obviously trying to kill me?"

Qin Ruanruan's voice became louder and louder, with a roar of despair.

"I am your biological daughter, and I have the same blood as you.

Do you think I wanted to be sold into the mountains? At the time, I cried out to heaven and earth, but no one answered. There was nothing I could do. I suffered so much in those mountains, and every day I hoped to escape and return home. "Wuwuwu..."

Qin Runrun became more and more excited as she spoke. She stood up and took two staggering steps towards Bai Susu, waving her hands wildly in the air, as if trying to grasp the glimmer of hope of being understood by her mother.
