The werewolf that was knocked away lay there paralyzed, its life hanging in the balance, while the remaining werewolf was in even greater danger.
Previously, Minghe used a wide-ranging, aggressive fighting style to keep the two werewolves occupied, aiming to exert pressure rather than hit them. Now, in a one-on-one situation, he can use many of his techniques.
At this moment, Li Liwen and He Zhongze discovered that Minghe, who seemed to lack agility, could now completely overwhelm the wolves with his power. He could be hit ten times without dodging once, and the werewolves would howl in pain if he grazed them even slightly.
Although the young man who could generate electricity stopped attacking after Minghe's successful strike, it was still extremely dangerous.
"We have never harmed anyone in China. Are the people from the Immortal Abode unreasonable?"
The werewolf beneath him tried its best to dodge while yelling angrily in the direction of "Uncle Ma".
Li Liwen lay motionless in a corner in the distance, but after taking the small pill, he felt cool but not cold, and the pain from the brief contact with high voltage was gone.
He listened intently to the werewolf's words, and as soon as he heard the words "Immortal Abode," he knew he had grasped the key.
"Do we need to reason with a wolf demon?"
Minghe swung his iron fist, tearing off tufts of the werewolf's black fur every now and then during the fight.
"Roar~~"
The remaining werewolf dodged left and right, its claws scraping against the nearby cement wall, leaving a deep crack, making Li Liwen realize that those claws were quite powerful.
Just when Li Liwen thought he had the uncle and nephew under his control, a feeling of unease suddenly rose from the bottom of his heart.
It gave him a feeling similar to when he was a child, when he was afraid to face the darkness around him.
But at this moment, he and He Zhongze were both lying on the ground, unable to move their hands or speak, and unable to determine anything, except for their secret anxiety.
He Zhongze seemed to have the same feeling, and kept looking at his shirt pocket, where his phone was, but he couldn't send messages right now.
He Zhongze was also very frustrated. Were all his underlings deaf? The fighting here was quite loud, and the werewolf would roar from time to time, either voluntarily or involuntarily.
Weren't you looking for large, ferocious beasts? Well, here are two of them. Come on, come on!
It wasn't exactly close to Temple Street, but it wasn't far either; at least it only took him and Li Liwen about ten minutes to get here.
Since the goal is to search for wild animals, they should spread out and look around. It's not like the animals are just sitting still and have to stay in Temple Street. From this point of view, He Zhongze believes that his subordinates have neglected their duties and is already planning to hold a meeting to criticize them another day.
The "Uncle Ma" was just standing on the side watching, occasionally glancing in the direction of the werewolf.
Li Liwen's feelings grew heavier and heavier. Even when he was being held by the werewolf, although he was sweating and his heart was pounding, he had never felt this way before.
"Rumble~~"
The sky had become overcast with dark clouds, and a sudden clap of thunder startled everyone present.
"Hey, that's exactly what we've been waiting for, you bunch of shady characters!"
The eldest nephew, Minghe, suddenly stopped, sneered, and said something that left the werewolf on the side looking a little bewildered.
"Pat...pat...pat..."
Countless raindrops fell.
The corner where Li Liwen and He Zhongze fell had an eave, so the rain couldn't get on them, but at this moment, goosebumps rose all over their bodies, and even the tops of their heads felt numb.
As the raindrops fell, many dense, transparent shadows appeared all around, and these shadows only revealed their outlines as the rain pattered on them.
Before it rained, you couldn't see anything at all.
That dream!
Li Liwen immediately thought of the events in his dream. In one corner of the dream, the scene of his compatriot punching the air repeatedly replayed in his mind.
There were similar things around here at the time!
Li Liwen and He Zhongze immediately realized what was happening.
Holy crap! We're surrounded! These invisible monsters can't possibly escape affecting us two innocent bystanders!
"hiss..."
These monsters resonate with each other in a cavity-like manner.
At first there was only one, but later all the monsters made a unified sound, which made Li Liwen and He Zhongze's hair stand on end.
These two had just been sporting explosive hairstyles due to the high-voltage electric shocks, and now practically every hair on their bodies was standing on end.
Only by listening to this sound can one know how many monsters there are; there are probably dozens, and that's an understatement.
Li Liwen could see that even the werewolf was in a frenzy, crawling on all fours with its eerie green eyes fixed on its surroundings, even forgetting about the uncle and nephew from the immortal abode.
"Mantis! Damn it! How could something like that be here?!"
The werewolf's voice clearly carried a great deal of unease.
Only two people remained calm throughout: Minghe and Uncle Ma.
Before anyone else could react, the screeching monsters suddenly moved at the same time.
As soon as they moved, their cloaking-like state weakened considerably, revealing their large, insect-like forms.
They looked very much like giant mantises, and a large group of them charged directly at the young Uncle Ma, their exposed scythes reflecting the faint light of the night like metal.
And there were quite a few of those, including the eldest nephew Ming and the large praying mantises that surrounded them.
Strangely, so many large insects flapped their wings, yet made no sound at all; the only sound all around was the rain.
Oh no!
The thought flashed through Li Liwen's and He Zhongze's minds almost simultaneously.
Although the uncle and nephew were formidable, the elder nephew was clearly only capable of dealing with two werewolves, while Uncle Ma had been stationary while manipulating electrified darts; he was obviously no match for hand-to-hand combat.
"Boom!"
Suddenly, a large crater appeared where Minghe was standing, and at the same time, countless mantis demons were blown away in all directions as if they had been hit by a bomb in the middle.
Li Liwen even saw that many of the large claws in front of the body were broken or bent.
"Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!"
The two sets of impact sounds were very close together; the first was Minghe punching the mantis demon, and the second was the sound of the mantis demon crashing into the surrounding walls.
Meanwhile, the mantises attacking Uncle Ma simultaneously unleashed a barrage of electric arcs, falling like dumplings and piling up not far from Li Liwen and He Zhongze.
The two could even see the large, smoking mantises still twitching, their sickle-like pincers inadvertently slicing through the cement as if cutting tofu.
Tonight, their nerves were already numb from all the training, but something even stranger still happened.
The rain on the ground seemed to lose its gravity, with each drop rising up backwards, and the rain falling from the sky also stopped in mid-air, forming a large patch of circular water droplets.
It's like transparent glass beads falling from the sky, all settling in one place as they get close to the ground, and accumulating more and more.
The scene was so shocking that Li Liwen even wondered if time had stopped. But when he looked into the distance, he realized that the rain was still falling in other places.
Uncle Ma raised his head and finally uttered his second sentence, a far cry from the initial "take action."
"They chased me all the way from Europe to China. These two little werewolves seem quite important. No wonder the Governor of Windsor called me personally."
Uncle Ma then looked at the low wall on one side, his voice becoming unusually cold.
"I heard you killed a Templar Knight?"
Splash splash splash~
All the water droplets suspended in the air transformed into liquid bullets, shooting towards the wall like a volley of arrows.
In Li Liwen and He Zhongze's view, the water droplets disappeared as soon as they moved, but they could still tell their general trajectory because they were continuous.
The sounds of impact, "hissing and sizzling...", came in short, rapid bursts.
Li Liwen could only see a corner of the wall, while He Zhongze couldn't see anything at all due to the angle.
In that corner, the wall almost instantly turned into a honeycomb and quickly collapsed.
A few short, sharp screams, like the howls of night owls, rang out and then stopped abruptly.
P.S.: Happy Mid-Autumn Festival everyone! I'm spending the Mid-Autumn Festival at my mother-in-law's house today, so there's only one chapter. Wishing everyone a happy and fulfilling Mid-Autumn Festival with your families!
Also, I've been too busy lately and haven't been in good writing condition, so I've written a lot of side stories (which are actually part of the main story). I'll get back on track as soon as possible!
