At 12:30 a.m. the next night, Hou Li’s private yacht was moored on the river at the confluence of the Qinglong River and the Qiantang River.
A rubber speedboat was lowered from the yacht and quietly sailed upstream from the lower reaches of the Qinglong River.
Eight members of the Jackal mercenaries were on the speedboat, along with a technician who stayed on board to coordinate communication routes and monitor for emergencies using hidden cameras placed at major intersections and key locations during the day.
Hou Li watched the mercenary setting up various data on the yacht, feeling a mix of anxiety and hope, praying that nothing went wrong.
Unfortunately, not every mercenary speaks Chinese; at least this one doesn't. And the only person Hou Li brought with him on this mission wasn't a translator.
On the inflatable rubber speedboat, eight mercenaries had already donned their respective equipment and were exchanging information and replenishing their supplies during the remaining time.
"Take the target away without harming others. If you encounter obstruction or resistance, don't hold back, but try not to cause any deaths, since we are in China after all."
"Captain, we've reached position number one," the helmsman reported.
Ahead lies the section of the river contracted by the Wu family, with a fish-blocking dam that rises a meter above the water. The rubber speedboat is moored on the bank.
"Okay, Sparrow and the little boy stay here, the rest of you come with me."
Six mercenaries dressed in black came ashore with their equipment. It was a cloudy night with very low visibility, so each of them was wearing night vision equipment.
They hid in the darkness, moving forward cautiously, as if on a battlefield.
Because it was in China, weapons couldn't be brought in, and it was difficult to obtain firearms locally, so each person only had a dagger, a stun gun, and ether spray.
Despite their cautiousness, their supposedly covert actions had already been discovered.
Beneath the rubber speedboat, at the bottom of the Qinglong River, a colossal creature lay quietly resting on the riverbed, its long whiskers swaying with the current.
Wu You got out of bed with an angry expression.
Sleeping is such a wonderful thing, why do people always disturb me?
Where did this speedboat come from? And who are these people? Are they from Shengtian? Or are they some heartless nouveau riche trying to find out if I still have any luminous pearls?
Wu You slapped his thigh as he thought about it.
Why think so much? Just chase them away first, then quietly follow the direction they fled in and you'll find out.
Then Wu You lay down again, closed his eyes, and entered observation mode.
They also sent out alchemical creatures.
...
Wu You is currently using the Ghost Mosquito to observe these unknown intruders from the sky in God mode, and then switches half of his view to Garuru.
This feeling is quite peculiar, somewhat similar to a surveillance video with two screens, except that it's a first-person perspective 3D surveillance.
The group was getting closer and closer to Garuru's location.
From Garuru's perspective, there's not much difference between night and day; everything is crystal clear. The equipment hanging on the people in black and the night vision goggles they wear are also immediately apparent.
Wow, these are all high-end items. It seems like you can't necessarily buy them even if you have money.
Wu You suddenly wanted to rob someone—cough cough—to eliminate their threat to the people.
"Garuru, go easy on them. Just tear off all that equipment. Just make sure it hurts them, don't break any bones. They still need to get back to the speedboat." Wu You gave the order to Garuru in his mind.
Garuru, dressed in casual clothes but still in human form, instantly jumped out of his hiding place and charged towards the mercenaries.
The Jackal Mercenaries all saw Garuru, but its movements were extremely difficult to capture; it was incredibly fast and always appeared in their blind spots.
Garuru's movements were completely unpredictable. Suddenly, he moved to the side of the first mercenary at an extremely fast speed. The man threw a punch and an elbow strike, trying to hit Garuru first.
But before he could finish the move, Garuru appeared beside him in a blur. The mercenary's elbow strike was so powerful that it affected his balance.
The attackers could not be seen at all in the night vision lens.
Staggering a few steps, I felt a hissing sound as my body was being cut, and then I was hit in the waist and inexplicably fell flat on my face into the muddy ground.
Seeing their companion taken down in one move, three of the other five immediately pulled out stun guns and surrounded him.
But the moment the stun gun was handed over, it felt like it could hit that big guy, but the next instant Garuru would disappear in a blur, giving me the absurd illusion that I was just air being electrocuted from the start.
There was only one Garuru, but the three of them felt as if they were facing it alone, as its figure could always appear in the most uncomfortable spot of a mercenary with a single movement.
None of the punches, kicks, and stun gun attacks could hit; it was like slow motion fighting fast motion.
A few seconds later, they were stripped of their gear and shoved into the mud.
The team leader, Red Fox, and a mercenary codenamed Fang beneath him stared in astonishment at their three companions, who had been toppled almost like monkeys, thinking they had encountered a top-tier fighting expert beyond their wildest imagination.
Not daring to be careless, the two drew the daggers from their legs and assumed a dagger fighting stance.
As a result, Garurugi completely defied expectations and stomped its right leg hard on the ground.
"Bang."
A powerful, clearly directed shock traveled from the ground to the feet of the two men in an instant, like a brief, small earthquake, causing them to lose their balance.
Before they could even regain their balance, they saw out of the corner of their eye that the big guy had moved again. They didn't have time to react; their hands went empty, they heard a hissing sound, and then a powerful force struck their buttocks.
The two of them also headed towards the muddy ground to keep their brother company.
None of the six were unconscious or seriously injured; they were just in pain from the places where they were hit. What really prevented them from standing up was the force and location of Garuru's push, which made them feel as if they were embedded in a field, each of them struggling to get out of the soil.
After Garuru finished doing all that, he picked up the equipment one by one from the ground and stood aside, just watching them.
When the group of mud monkeys grimaced and dug themselves out of the mud, Garuru made a move to pounce, scaring them so much that they quickly retreated and ran away.
Seeing that Garuru hadn't really caught up, they didn't dare stop. It was truly bizarre; could it be Chinese Kung Fu?
Two mercenaries waiting on the speedboat were chatting quietly when they discovered that their companions, who had just gone out, were stumbling back as if fleeing for their lives.
"Captain, mission accomplished? Where are they?" The mercenary codenamed Sparrow asked, puzzled, "What happened to you guys?"
Red Fox and the other five jumped off the boat one by one.
"Hurry up, hurry up! They're tough as nails. We can't break through them this time. Let's run first."
The speedboat, accompanied by the low-pitched roar of its motor, left a white trail on the water's surface as it sped along the lower reaches of the Qinglong River.
Just a few seconds after they drove away, a section of the Qinglong River suddenly became turbid as if something was stirring the bottom of the river.
