Chapter 379 Investigating Missing Persons

In a room of an apartment in the capital city.

Xia Tianqiong and Du Fuwei were both here, followed by five Ghost Hunters from the Tianlong Legion.

The reason I came here is because Du Fuwei suggested investigating missing persons cases.

Coincidentally, the police received another report of a missing person, so they rushed over to investigate.

Inside the room, an elderly man in a security guard uniform was explaining the situation.

"Old Guo is the landlord of this house. He came up to collect rent from the tenant, but he didn't come down for more than half an hour. He also didn't answer the phone."

I came upstairs to check, but he wouldn't answer the door when I knocked. I went back to check the security footage and saw that he went into the room and didn't come out.

Worried that something might have happened, I used the spare key to open the door, but Lao Guo wasn't in the room, and neither were the other tenants.

I figured it was most likely eaten by some strange creature, so I called the police.

Du Fuwei, who had experience in criminal investigation, sensed something amiss from the security guard's words.

"You're a property security guard, why do you have a resident's spare key?"

The security guard raised an eyebrow and stared with his bright eyes. "You can't doubt me. I'm a former soldier, and I was Lao Guo's comrade-in-arms."

Sometimes his house is hard to rent out, so he keeps the spare key with me. I'm the one who takes potential tenants to view the property, and Lao Guo only comes over when it's time to sign the contract.

That explanation makes sense. Du Fuwei then asked, "The landlord hasn't come down for half an hour, which shouldn't be considered long. He might be chatting with the tenant. Why did you become suspicious?"

“He told me he was going up to collect the rent and would be back in five minutes. He then invited me out for drinks, but he didn’t come down for more than half an hour. So I called to ask, and that’s when I realized something was wrong.”

At this point, the security guard's eyes reddened, and he sighed, "Old Guo is probably dead. Please be sure to catch the mysterious person who harmed him."

What are the names of the landlord and tenant?

"The landlord is Guo Anping, and the tenant is Sun Tianjun."

Du Fuwei took out his phone, logged into the police's dedicated system, and checked the information of the homeowner and tenants. Sure enough, the security guard was right.

He then took out two blank talisman papers and wrote the three characters "Guo Anping" and his date of birth on one of them.

After writing, input a wisp of Netherworld power.

With a "poof," the talisman instantly burned into a pile of ashes.

Xia Tianqiong watched silently from the side without saying a word.

Du Fuwei explained to him, "This is a talisman used to find people. Under normal circumstances, it should burn slowly and fly automatically to the location of the target person."

The fact that this person turned to ashes in an instant means that he/she is dead.

Upon hearing this, the security guard silently turned away and wiped away the two lines of tears that had rolled down his cheeks.

Du Fuwei then wrote the tenant's name and date of birth on another talisman, but this time a different situation arose.

Before the talisman could even begin to burn, it instantly shattered into powder.

Du Fuwei sighed, "I can't explain this situation either. It seems there's an invisible force preventing the talisman from finding this person."

Xia Tianqiong suddenly asked, "Are all the recent missing persons cases like this?"

Du Fuwei nodded, "That's right, I tried it more than ten times, and it was the same every time, so I think this matter may be related to the Ghost King. Ordinary ghosts may not have this kind of ability to be done without anyone noticing."

Xia Tianqiong casually took out a reddish-orange hair, infused it with Netherworld Power, and it immediately transformed into a chubby, plump orange cat.

The orange cat wagged its tail and stared at him with its big eyes.

He hadn't used this strange object in a long time. He scratched his head and then gave the order: "Find someone named Sun Tianjun who has lived here."

The orange cat's role is to find things; as long as a description is given, it will go to find them.

As soon as Xia Tianqiong finished speaking, the orange cat was about to make a move when, in the next moment, the illusion shattered, and it turned back into a single orange hair.

Clearly, some force is preventing the orange cat from searching.

Just then, Xiao Tao's voice rang in my mind: "Boss, be careful, I sensed a faint trace of the power of the rules, which vanished in a flash."

"Yes, I felt it too. It seems that the Demon King is indeed the culprit."

Xia Tianqiong's expression turned serious as he asked, "Can you trace the source of the power of the rules and find that Ghost King?"

Xiao Tao's reply was tinged with apology, "Boss, I can't sense the power of rules in the distance."

"It's nothing, I was just asking casually. Even if we sensed it, we wouldn't dare to go looking for him."

"However, I can sense all the Netherworld power within a hundred miles, and I can find Sun Tianjun."

Xia Tianqiong was immediately overjoyed, "Why are you so sure?"

Xiao Tao replied, "There is a trace of Netherworld power in the room, which has not completely dissipated. In my perception, about thirteen miles to the north, there is a person whose Netherworld power is of the same origin as the one in this room. He should be Sun Tianjun, whom you are looking for."

"Go and bring him back."

With a thought, Xia Tianqiong summoned Xiao Tao.

Before Xiaotao's body even landed, she transformed into a streak of light and flew out of the window.

Du Fuwei couldn't hear his telepathic message and didn't understand what he was doing. He only saw a pink light fly out. "Commander Xia, what are you doing?"

Xia Tianqiong casually replied, "I'll send someone to capture Sun Tianjun, and they'll be back soon."

Du Fuwei was stunned for a moment, and even the security guard looked at him in surprise, wondering who this person was and how efficient he was.

"How long will it take?"

Du Fuwei still trusted Xia Tianqiong. He didn't doubt her, but instead asked how much time it would take.

Xia Tianqiong turned to look at the window and uttered two words: "Immediately."
