As the ghost bride began to speak, a strange change suddenly occurred at the scene.
All the strange creatures and humans froze in place.
Even the flames on the torches stopped flickering.
Time seemed to freeze, and everything stopped, except for Xia Tianqiong and the statue that had turned into the eerie bride.
Are you going to marry someone else?
The Bride's voice was like a copper bell, clear and melodious.
But his tone was cold, carrying an accusatory tone.
Xia Tianqiong stood in front of the giant ghost bride, looking like a little child.
He looked up and, though he couldn't see the other person's face through the red veil, he could sense that the other person seemed angry.
Suddenly I felt a little panicked.
This strange woman is unpredictable, like a madwoman, and hard to fathom.
"Hello, young lady, I didn't expect to meet you here."
He dared not answer directly and tried to change the subject, but the Ghost Bride wouldn't allow it.
"Weren't you going to be my groom? How come you're having a ghost marriage with someone else?"
When did I ever say I wanted to be your groom?
"If you're not going to be my groom, why should you lift my veil?"
"Well……"
Xia Tianqiong was speechless. Wasn't it you who made me lift it in the first place?
He dared not say that, for fear of angering the other party.
"Is there some misunderstanding between us? I..."
Before she could finish speaking, the ghost bride interrupted her, "There's no misunderstanding. I'll ask you one more time, will you be my groom?"
Xia Tianqiong frowned upon hearing this. "Are you kidding me? You're using the death rule on me again? Do you want to kill me, or do you really want me to marry you?"
“I did not use the rules of death; this was just a normal question.”
"Huh? It really is."
Xia Tianqiong sensed that there were no fluctuations in the rules around her, indicating that the Ghost Bride had indeed not used the rules of death.
Suddenly, an idea popped into my head.
These strange women possess unfathomable strength; they could very well be powerful ghosts or ghost generals, or even the most powerful ghost kings.
If I were to enter into a ghost marriage with her, I wouldn't have to work hard anymore!
We can just lie down and relax. Who would dare kill the Ghost King's husband?
Isn't that like turning on the light in the toilet and looking for poop?
Xia Tianqiong suddenly laughed and said, "Miss, I'm willing to marry you. How about we have a ghost marriage right now?"
The ghost bride hesitated for a moment, "You're willing to marry me?"
"Of course, shrink down and come to my side, and we'll have a ghost marriage right now."
"But I can't sense your feelings for me."
Xia Tianqiong's face darkened. She thought to herself, "You're a monster, and I'm a human. This is only the third time we've met. What kind of affection do you have?"
He couldn't say that, so he tried to fool people by saying, "Your requirements are a bit high. How about we get to know each other slowly after marriage? These days, it's all about getting married first and then falling in love."
The ghost bride was clearly taken aback for a moment, then sighed softly, "If you knew who I am, you might not be willing to marry me."
Xia Tianqiong's eyes narrowed. The strange bride actually called herself a human, which was a bit odd.
Suddenly, the surrounding environment changed.
Like a scene from a movie, the previous frame was a dimly lit valley, and the next frame was a quaint and elegant boudoir.
Inside the boudoir, a woman dressed in a red wedding gown was weeping bitterly at her desk.
Suddenly the door opened, and several maids dressed in ancient costumes walked in, forcibly dragged the woman out of the room, and stuffed her into the bridal sedan chair.
During this process, Xia Tianqiong stood to the side, and no one saw him.
He tried to communicate with them, but they couldn't see him.
He was as if he didn't exist.
The scene shifts to a fat and ugly groom wearing a big red flower on his chest, riding a tall horse, with a wedding procession beating drums and gongs behind him.
As they walked along the street, the horses suddenly became frightened and galloped wildly, causing the groom to fall headfirst to the ground and die instantly.
The crowd was abuzz with gossip, saying that the bride was unlucky and had caused the groom's death.
Xia Tianqiong could see clearly that the scene being shown was probably what the Ghost Bride experienced when she was alive.
The scene changes again, this time to a bridal chamber with red candles lit.
The bride sat gracefully on the edge of the bed, her head covered with a red veil.
The groom this time was a scholar, weak and frail, with a rather thin frame.
He picked up the scale rod, ready to lift the red veil.
Xia Tianqiong quickly moved closer, wanting to see what the ghost bride looked like.
But the groom had only lifted half of the opening and seen half of a snow-white face when he suddenly gasped for breath, clutched his chest, and slowly collapsed to the ground.
Then he died.
Based on Xia Tianqiong's limited experience, it's possible that the asthma was triggered by excessive excitement and tension.
In ancient times, asthma could easily lead to death.
But nobody believed it; everyone thought the bride had cursed the groom to death.
The scene shifts again, with neighbors gossiping behind her back, saying that whoever she marries will die, that she's a jinx.
Amidst rampant rumors and the neglect of her family, the ghost bride ultimately chose to drown herself.
Unfortunately, she didn't die; she was rescued and locked in her boudoir.
Many years passed, and one day, she was married off to someone else again.
But this time she married not a living person, but a dead one.
Her family arranged a ghost marriage for her, and she was eventually buried in a coffin with a male corpse.
And so, a perfectly healthy person was suffocated in someone else's coffin.
The cinematic scene ends here, and it eventually returns to the small valley.
The ghost bride's voice was unusually calm, "I've cursed two grooms to death in a row, are you still willing to marry me?"
Xia Tianqiong shrugged indifferently, but felt a little sorry for her.
“You’re an unlucky girl. Those two deaths have nothing to do with you. I don’t believe in the saying that you’re a jinx to your husband. If you’re willing to marry me, I will definitely marry you.”
