Chapter 3: Good things don't happen to good people

Looking around, she saw the herbs she was looking for. She picked a few, separated the leaves, put them in her mouth and chewed them. She took out the water bottle from the cloth bag, used the boiled water she drank to clean his wound, and then applied the chewed herbs on his wound.

Seeing the green stuff mixed with Lin Yin's saliva on his knees, he looked at her with disgust and was about to stretch his legs to shake it off, but Lin Yin held his legs down in time.

"This can reduce swelling and blood stasis, clear away heat and detoxify. It's good for your wound. I'm helping you. Please don't be ungrateful, okay?"

As she spoke, she kept looking at her patched clothes.

The boy couldn't help but ask: "What else do you want to do?"

Lin Yin didn't even look at him: "Nonsense, of course I'm here to help you find a piece of cloth to tie up the wound. Who has the time to keep pressing the herbs on you?"

As she spoke, Lin Yin prepared to tear a piece of cloth from her clothes.

"Wait a minute." The boy immediately stopped her, took out a white handkerchief from his pocket, and said in a slightly cold tone: "Use this."

Seeing the handkerchief, Lin Yin raised her eyebrows. She felt like she was being disliked.

But Lin Yin didn't care. She took his handkerchief and helped him bandage the wound, talking as she did so.

"The thing I just gave you can reduce swelling and blood stasis, and it can also detoxify. If you get injured in the mountains again, or get bit by a poisonous snake, you can treat the wound like I did, so you won't die here before you even get down the mountain."

Only then did the boy look at Lin Yin carefully.

Because she has lived in the countryside for many years, Lin Yin's skin is inevitably a little rough and dry, but her exquisiteness can still be seen from her eyebrows, eyes and facial features.

She looks like a little girl of only twelve or thirteen years old, but she speaks in a mature manner, which is really strange.

The boy couldn't help but ask: "Do you know a lot about Chinese herbal medicine?"

Lin Yin tied a beautiful bow and looked up: "What did you say?"

Her beautiful eyes met the boy's cold gaze. Lin Yin pursed her lips and replied, "It's okay."

She had suffered from many illnesses in her previous life and had taken many Western medicines but none of them had helped. Instead, they left her with many sequelae. So when Lin Yin was bored, she would often read some books on Chinese herbal medicine to pass the time, and she had some knowledge in this area.

"What about you?" Lin Yin raised an eyebrow and looked at him. "You haven't answered my question just now. Are you here to dig herbs?"

The boy's eyes became alert again and he stopped talking.

Seeing his rejection, Lin Yin clicked her tongue, stood up, and patted her clothes.

It’s true that good people don’t get rewarded.

"The way down here is a bit steep. You should be more careful now that you're injured. Also... I'm not interested in things like Ganoderma lucidum and ginseng. Don't look at me like that."

After saying that, Lin Yin left.

Looking at her weak back, the boy showed a hint of surprise on his face. He obviously couldn't imagine why Lin Yin knew the purpose of his coming here.

He looked down at the handkerchief on his knees, and couldn't help but look in the direction where the girl left.

"Young Master!" A voice called out from behind. A man in his thirties came over. Seeing this scene, a look of nervousness appeared on his face and he walked over immediately.

"Master, are you okay?"

Huo Yicheng stood up and shook his head indifferently.

The loose hair on his forehead obscured his cold eyes.

"Master, it's all my fault that I didn't find the thing and caused you to get hurt."

Huo Yicheng walked slowly: "I can't find it today, let's go back to town first."

Uncle Wang quickly responded: "Master, if we still can't find it, we'd better return to the capital as soon as possible, otherwise the master will worry."

"Let's talk later."
