Chapter 238 Love is Always a Feeling of Debt
Xie Nanzhi looked at him, her heart ached uncontrollably, and she smiled slightly, "Love is always about feeling indebted, Mr. Wei, then love me well."
In the quiet corner of love, there lies a proverb: love is always feeling indebted. This is not a distortion of love, but a wonderful interpretation of its profound meaning.
Xie Nanzhi finally understood the meaning of those words. Because she loved him, she was always afraid that she wasn't doing enough or doing enough, and therefore always felt indebted to him.
This is probably what love looks like at its deepest.
The long night was destined to be extraordinary.
That night, Wei Chizheng did not return to the guest room. For him, home was where his wife was.
The next morning, Wei Chizheng came out of his room and bumped into Wang Shufen, who was leaving. Both of them were experienced, so how could Wang Shufen not understand?
She gave an awkward laugh, and Wei Chizheng responded with a smile. Just as they were about to look away, Wang Shufen called out to him, "Xiao Wei, can I talk to you?"
Wei Chizheng immediately understood, "Of course."
The slight chill of late autumn is the color of the season, and even the warm port city carries a hint of cold.
Wang Shufen led Wei Chizheng to the back garden, where the morning sun cast a warm glow. "Little Wei, I'm so happy you're alive. Nanzhi has had such a hard time all these years. Look at how successful she is now, but she walked through all those difficult times step by step, over thorns. Fortunately, she made it through and found you. There's nothing better than having the four of you together as a family."
Wang Shufen brushed a stray hair behind her ear and smiled sheepishly. "I'm not very educated, and you might not like what I'm saying, but Xiao Wei, Nanzhi is the person I worry about the most in this world. Can you promise me that no matter how bad her temper is or what she does to upset you, you won't hold it against her?"
As Wei Chi listened to her, he felt that something was off, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.
Wei Chizheng assured, "Mom, don't worry, I, Wei Chizheng, swear that I will protect her with my life. If I break my oath, may I die without a burial place."
Wang Shufen smiled easily, "Alright, alright, of course I believe you. I've seen everything you've done for Nanzhi. Also, regarding the two children, although Nianchi is more mature than most children, he's still a child at heart. He makes things difficult for you and gives you attitude because he cares about Nanzhi, so don't hold it against him. As for Nianzheng, she's the one I'm most worried about. You should have heard that she's not in good health, so you must take good care of her every day and not be careless in the slightest. Remember all of this."
Wei Chizheng showed no impatience and nodded repeatedly, "Mom, I've kept everything you said in mind. Don't worry, they are my and Nanzhi's children, and I will be a good father."
Wang Shufen breathed a sigh of relief, looking much more relaxed. "To be honest, before you came back, I was already thinking of trying to match Nanzhi and Huang Yaozu up, but now that you're back, you're naturally the most suitable candidate."
Upon hearing Huang Yaozu's name, Wei Chizheng felt a surge of jealousy, a sour feeling rising straight to the top of his head.
"Huang Yaozu is not worthy of Nanzhi."
Wang Shufen could easily detect the jealousy in his eyes. She smiled and said, "Look at me, I brought up the wrong thing. It's my fault."
Wei Chizheng said with a stern face, "Mom, I didn't mean that."
Wang Shufen comforted him, "I understand, I understand. I've been through this, I understand what you're thinking. Xiao Wei, as long as you and Nanzhi are doing well, that's more important than anything else."
...
After a while, everyone woke up.
Nianzheng finally got a father, and she became Wei Chizheng's constant companion, following him everywhere.
Nianchi's face darkened, but he endured it for his sister's sake.
In the morning, following Wei Chizheng's instructions, Mu Lin moved all his belongings to the villa, a smile never fading from his lips.
Second Master has finally made it through the tough times.
Good days are finally here!
However, Nian Chi, who was always on good terms with Mu Lin, was very dissatisfied and stared at him with a resentful look the whole time.
Mu Lin was under a lot of pressure, especially after Nian Chi called him a "traitor," which completely broke his mental defenses.
Mu Lin approached Nian Chi, squatted down, and looked into the little guy's eyes. "Little darling, Uncle Lin has had it so tough. I've had it really tough too."
Nian Chi crossed his arms, his cold gaze a miniature version of Wei Chizheng's. "This is not an excuse."
Mu Lin was on the verge of tears. "Chi Bao, you're someone Uncle Lin watched grow up. Uncle Lin loves you the most, you know that. Please, don't be angry with Uncle Lin. It'll hurt your health, and it will break my heart."
Nian Chi said, "He's glib and smooth-talking, just like that man."
After saying that, the little guy snorted and turned away.
Today is Sunday, and Xie Nanzhi is enjoying a rare moment of leisure at home.
When Xie Nanzhi received Xi Bei's call, she was lazily leaning against Wei Chizheng, chatting.
Wei Chizheng told Wang Shufen about their conversation that morning.
Xie Nanzhi said, "Her life has not been easy."
Wei Chi tightened his grip on Xie Nanzhi's waist. "She's had a tough time. By the way, when Mom talked to me today, I had a feeling she was hiding something from us."
Xie Nanzhi: "Really? I'll try to find out about it discreetly when I have some free time these next few days."
Xibei called, interrupting their conversation. Xie Nanzhi casually pressed the answer button on her phone.
The call was answered, and before Xie Nanzhi could speak, Xibei said first, "Nanzhi, my research project has finally made a substantial breakthrough. Aren't you happy?"
Xibei's voice was more than just happy; it was practically excited, which even stirred up Xie Nanzhi's emotions. "Happy," she said.
Xi Bei couldn't contain her joy. "I'll treat you to lunch, a big meal."
Xie Nanzhi teased, "So generous today?"
Xibei, "What are you saying? When have I ever been stingy with you? Pack your things, eon."
Xie Nanzhi asked, "Did you call Lao Zhou?"
Xi Bei joked, "Old Zhou didn't have time; he went to another city to provide legal aid to a divorced woman. Anyway, don't mention it; that guy's crazy."
Xie Nanzhi has been spending all her time with Wei Chizheng lately, and she really doesn't know what's going on behind the scenes.
The two chatted briefly for a bit, decided on a place to eat, and then hung up the phone.
Xie Nanzhi put down her phone, looked up and asked, "Do you want to come along?"
Wei Chizheng deliberately teased, "Would it be appropriate for me to go?"
Xie Nanzhi chuckled, "There's nothing inappropriate about it. If you want to go, then it's appropriate."
Hearing this, Wei Chizheng felt a warmth in his heart. He kissed her forehead and said softly, "I won't go, so as not to make you feel uncomfortable."
So considerate?
This doesn't sound like something Wei Chizheng would say at all.
As it turned out, Xie Nanzhi was right.
When Xie Nanzhi arrived at the Shangri-La Hotel, she ran into Wei Chizheng, who had also just arrived.
However, it wasn't just him; there was someone else with him.
