Chapter 451 Zhou Mubin, what are you going to do?

Chapter 451 Zhou Mubin, what are you going to do?

"Mr. Zhou, Mrs. Zhou, look at this walk-in closet. It's a full 30 square meters. On the left, you can hang coats and long dresses, on the right there's a folding area and a jewelry cabinet, and on top you can put out-of-season clothes..."

Zhou Mubin immediately pulled Cui Xiao to the door of the walk-in closet, his tone full of anticipation, "Look how big this walk-in closet is, isn't it? You women have so many clothes, bags, and jewelry, it can all fit."

Cui Xiao didn't even glance into the dressing room, nor did she move her feet inside. She simply stood at the door, her eyes indifferently sweeping over the exquisite decorations. "Not good."

There was no hesitation in his tone, as if he had prepared this answer long ago.

The third set we'll look at is a modern minimalist style, with light gray walls paired with solid wood furniture, creating a clean and sophisticated look.

Zhou Mubin specifically asked the saleswoman to take the two of them to see the children's room. The room was furnished with a cartoon-shaped bed and desk, and the walls were painted a light milky white.

The saleswoman explained, "This children's room is very spacious, and the furniture can be adjusted according to the child's age. The walls are painted with environmentally friendly paint, which is safe and non-toxic."

Zhou Mubin squatted down and touched the railing of the crib. When he turned to look at Cui Xiao, his eyes were full of hopeful smiles. He asked with great interest, "Do you think it's better to paint it light blue or light pink? If it's a son, we'll use blue, and if it's a daughter, we'll use pink. Or we could paint it light green, which is refreshing and easy on the eyes."

Cui Xiao leaned against the door frame, arms crossed, her eyes filled with indifference, her tone still cold and devoid of warmth, "Not good."

After Cui Xiao's flat "Oh no," the air fell silent.

The saleswoman stood to the side, her smile somewhat stiff. She glanced at Zhou Mubin and then at Cui Xiao, then wisely shut her mouth and took a half-step back.

Zhou Mubin squatted by the crib in the children's room, his hand still resting on the railing, the longing and smile in his eyes fading away little by little.

He slowly stood up, not looking at Cui Xiao, but turning to the saleswoman and politely saying, "That's all for today, thank you for your hard work. I'll contact you again if I need anything."

When they left the showroom, Zhou Mubin didn't put his arm around Cui Xiao's shoulder like he had when they arrived; instead, he slowed down and walked beside her.

The two walked silently through the marketing center, into the elevator, and into the car, keeping an arm's length apart.

After starting the car, Zhou Mubin did not drive it immediately. Instead, he parked the car in the temporary parking space at the entrance of the building. He held the steering wheel with both hands, his knuckles unconsciously rubbing the leather surface. The car was so quiet that the faint sound of the air conditioning vents could be heard.

Cui Xiao leaned back in the passenger seat, turning her head to look out the window, but felt a little heavy-hearted.

She thought Zhou Mubin would lose his temper, after all, he had put in so much effort since morning, even using President Hou's connections, but he remained silent. This silence made her more uncomfortable than any accusation.

Just as she was about to break the silence, Zhou Mubin finally spoke first, his voice lower than usual, carrying a hint of barely perceptible fatigue, "You don't actually think the house is bad, it's just that no matter what I choose, you won't agree, right?"

Cui Xiao's body stiffened almost imperceptibly, and she did not answer, which was taken as tacit agreement.

She thought an argument was about to break out, but to her surprise, Zhou Mubin simply started the car, smoothly merged into traffic, and then glanced at her.

There was no anger in Zhou Mubin's tone, but rather a gentle coaxing tone, "It's okay, if you don't like it, you don't like it. These villas were ones I had my eye on beforehand, and I didn't ask for your opinion beforehand. If you don't like any of them, we can choose again. There are a few new housing developments in the east of the city that will open next week, and I'll take you there then. There's bound to be one that suits your taste."

No sooner had she finished speaking than Cui Xiao's cold voice rang out, "No need to choose anymore."

Cui Xiao finally turned her head, her eyes no longer showing the distance from before. "Zhou Mubin, it's not about the house. It's that I simply don't want to have any connection with you regarding 'home'. No matter how many houses you choose, I won't be satisfied, and I certainly won't agree to marry you."

Zhou Mubin tightened his grip on the steering wheel and frowned slightly.

Cui Xiao then said calmly, "Zhou Mubin, what do you want from me?"

Let her go?

These words seemed to strike the most vulnerable spot in Zhou Mubin's heart. He froze for two seconds, then suddenly chuckled softly.

Laughter rolled out of his throat, carrying a hint of inexplicable self-mockery and a deep-seated resentment, making his chest tremble slightly.

He slowly turned to the side, the tenderness and tolerance that had been hidden in his eyes completely fading away, leaving only a dark stubbornness.

Those eyes, always filled with a smile, were fixed on her impatient face, as if trying to etch her image into her very bones.

The smile gradually faded from his face, his lips tightened into a straight line, and his voice deepened, "I want to ask you the same question, Cui Xiao. What do I have to do for you to accept me? Do I have to rip my heart out and lay it out in front of you before you'll believe me?"

Cui Xiao's brows furrowed even more tightly, forming a deep frown, her face still displaying an icy expression that kept people at a distance.

In her opinion, Zhou Mubin was spouting this kind of sentimental and ridiculous nonsense again.

He had talked about it with other women quite a bit before.

She turned her face away, her gaze returning to the rushing street scene outside the window, too lazy to even offer a perfunctory remark.

The irritation and suffocation grew stronger and stronger, and Cui Xiao could no longer bear being in the same closed carriage with him.

So, Cui Xiao reached out to unbuckle her seatbelt, the metal buckle making a soft "click," her tone as stiff as a stone, "I'll take a taxi back to the company myself, you don't need to take me."

She had only unbuckled her seatbelt halfway and hadn't even opened the car door when Zhou Mubin suddenly lunged forward like a cheetah that had been poised for a long time, his movements so fast that he caught her completely off guard.

With a powerful force, he snatched the bag from her lap.

That was her usual commuter bag, which contained her notebook and other personal belongings.

Cui Xiao was both shocked and furious. She instinctively reached out to grab it, but her fingertips had barely touched the strap when he firmly pressed her wrist down.

She struggled and growled, her wrist aching from his grip. "Zhou Mubin, what are you doing? Let go and give me back my bag."

Zhou Mubin ignored her resistance and quickly unzipped the bag with his other hand. His fingertips brushed over her notebook and lipstick, and finally grasped a long, narrow object wrapped in a dark velvet cover.

It was a self-defense dagger that Cui Xiao had bought specifically for safety, and she had kept it hidden at the very bottom of her bag.

Cui Xiao's heart sank. "Zhou Mubin, what are you going to do?"

A strong sense of unease gripped her instantly, and her tone finally lost all its coldness, replaced by an unprecedented panic.
