Chapter 159 Have you provoked Miss Xie again?

Chapter 159 Have you provoked Miss Xie again?

Xie Nanzhi had a dark line on her forehead.

Guo Xun continued to mutter, "Nanzhi, you're really not being fair. You got married without telling us? Don't you even consider us family? You get angry just thinking about it. Let me tell you, if you don't give us a reasonable explanation, we're never talking to you again."

How do you explain that?

Xie Nanzhi didn't know where to begin.

Xie Nanzhi turned around and leaned against the railing. "We had a marriage of convenience, not what you think. And we're getting a divorce soon, so we didn't tell you."

There's something inadequate here, and Guo Xun doesn't accept it. "I don't believe you for a second. But then again, who carries their marriage certificate around all the time?"

Normal people certainly wouldn't carry their marriage certificate with them, but for Wei Chizheng, who never plays by the rules, it's perfectly normal.

Xie Nanzhi wouldn't be surprised if he did something bizarre.

Xie Nanzhi complained, "He's mentally ill."

Guo Xun joked, "He looks perfectly normal. You really can't judge a book by its cover."

...

Xie Nanzhi didn't leave the house all day, and received a message from Wei Chizheng in the evening.

He bought a plane ticket to Beijing for tomorrow and asked her if the timing was okay. If not, he would arrange to reschedule.

As the end of the semester approached, Xie Nanzhi didn't intend to stay in the US for long. There were still many things waiting for her in Hong Kong, and besides, she was worried about Wang Shufen being alone there for too long.

Xie Nanzhi wanted to resolve these matters quickly and return to Hong Kong.

She had no objections and packed her bags that very night.

The next morning around 8 a.m., Wei Chizheng was waiting downstairs.

Seeing Xie Nanzhi leave, Wei Chizheng offered to help her put her luggage in the trunk. Xie Nanzhi neither refused nor said anything polite.

After she got into the car, Wei Chizheng got in as well.

The two sat together, having been inseparable not long ago, exchanging the most touching words of love. But that happiness vanished like a bubble.

Even in first class, long-haul flights can be tiring. Xie Nanzhi would read to pass the time, and occasionally close her eyes to rest when she got tired of reading.

Xie Nanzhi drifted off to sleep without realizing it, only to be startled awake by the sudden turbulence of the plane.

For a moment she was in a daze, she found herself leaning on Wei Chizheng's shoulder, with a thin blanket draped over her. She immediately sat up straight and looked awkwardly at the scene above the white clouds outside the plane window.

Wei Chizheng looked at her, and Xie Nanzhi saw his reflection in the glass. His gaze was tender and infatuated, and beneath his deep eyes lay emotions she couldn't understand.

She seemed to sense that Wei Chizheng liked her, but she also felt that there were too many emotions mixed in with that liking that she didn't understand.

Xie Nanzhi suddenly turned around and caught Wei Chizheng's gaze.

He paused for a moment, instinctively wanting to dodge, when Xie Nanzhi asked, "Wei Chizheng, what exactly are your concerns?"

A flicker of panic crossed Wei Chizheng's eyes. The usually composed and calm man always lost his composure when facing her. "Are you overthinking it?"

Xie Nanzhi felt a tightness in her chest. "Wei Chizheng, if you don't have feelings for me, don't bother me. Even if I die on the road, don't interfere in my affairs. Do you understand?"

She was really angry.

He clearly didn't like her, yet he still forced a kiss on her.

He clearly didn't like her, yet he was still gentle with her.

Even though he doesn't like her, he still insists on being nice to her.

People like that are really...annoying.

Wei Chizheng was too restrained; he stared straight at the small plot of land in front of him and said, "Okay."

He didn't want to be like someone with a split personality, fluctuating between hot and cold, close and distant, but he was constantly torn between reason and emotion, and that feeling of being out of control was unbearable for him.

Xie Nanzhi completely ignored him, and for the rest of the flight she couldn't sleep, nor did she exchange a single word with Wei Chizheng.

It wasn't until I got off the plane that it was past 2 p.m. in Beijing, due to the time difference.

The capital city was chilly after autumn arrived. Xie Nanzhi had come to the capital without any warm clothes, and she couldn't help but shiver when the cold wind blew.

Just then, she noticed Wei Chizheng's actions and reprimanded him, "Mr. Wei, don't tell me you're going to fawn over me again? There's no need for that."

Wei Chi paused in his act of taking off his suit jacket, then looked at her calmly for half a second before resuming his actions.

Xie Nanzhi looked at Wei Chizheng with her bright eyes as he draped his coat over her shoulders. "Any woman would have done the same. If you don't overthink it, you won't think I'm being overly attentive."

The heavy suit blocked the autumn wind, giving Xie Nanzhi a bit of warmth.

She pulled her coat tighter, but Wei Chizheng had already walked away.

After leaving the airport, the two went their separate ways.

Tie Tou came to pick her up from the airport. Wei Chizheng wanted to take her to the hotel, but Xie Nanzhi didn't appreciate it.

She walked straight to the public vehicle lane, leaving Tie Tou standing there bewildered. He asked, "Second Master, what's wrong with Miss Xie?"

Wei Chizheng pursed his thin lips into a line, "You don't want to see me."

Tie Tou blinked, even more confused, "You've offended Miss Xie again?"

Wei Chizheng didn't say anything, and then got into the car.

Xie Nanzhi checked into a hotel in downtown Beijing. After checking in, she took her luggage upstairs and took off her clothes.

Her wrist was draped with Wei Chizheng's suit jacket, which still carried his scent—a minty fragrance with a hint of tobacco, quite pleasant.

She hung the coat on the hanger, intending to return it to Wei Chizheng the next time she saw him.

Xie Nanzhi took a shower and forced herself to stay awake, trying to get back to the time difference, otherwise she would definitely wake up in the middle of the night.

After getting ready, Xie Nanzhi planned to visit her senior brother, wondering if the Wei family had been causing trouble for Danqing Academy recently.

And Catherine, is she adapting to life in the capital?

Xie Nanzhi hailed a car on the roadside to go to Danqing Academy. Upon seeing Yun Zhongzi, she was so shocked by his enthusiastic address that she almost cried.

"Sixth Brother, why are you married?"

Xie Nanzhi smiled bitterly, "For a living, for money."

Yun Zhongzi didn't believe it. "You're short of money? Who are you trying to fool? Everyone knows that Lao Liu is a little rich woman."

Xie Nanzhi joked, "If you don't believe me, then so be it."

After exchanging a few jokes, Xie Nanzhi was finally able to get down to business. Ever since the Wei family caused trouble for Danqing Academy last time, they hadn't come back. Come to think of it, Yun Zhongzi found it strange; it seemed the Wei family had given up on getting the land for Danqing Academy.

Xie Nanzhi couldn't understand it for a moment, but in the end it was a good thing.

Before leaving, she went to see Catherine again. It turned out that David had also come to the capital. He took advantage of his rest time to fly over and visit his wife.

The two were deeply in love, making others envious.

Xie Nanzhi didn't want to be a third wheel and disturb the couple's rare time together, so she said a few words and then left.

At 7 p.m., neon lights illuminated the roadside.

All sorts of passersby walked unsteadily on their way home.

Xie Nanzhi waited by the roadside for a while but no taxi came. The ride-hailing app showed that it was waiting, and she was getting a little anxious.

Then, a black car stopped in front of her.

A middle-aged man stepped out of the car and looked at Xie Nanzhi respectfully. "Miss Nan, our master wishes to see you."

In unfamiliar territory, with unfamiliar people, Xie Nanzhi would have to be crazy to get on his bus.

She became wary, and the middle-aged man was clearly not polite either, saying, "If Miss Nan doesn't cooperate, then I'll have no choice but to resort to drastic measures."

The next second, several agile men surrounded her; they were clearly trained fighters.

The middle-aged man remained expressionless. "Miss Nan, please."
