Chapter 17 "This is my home, and it's your home too."

Jiang Tingzhou smiled and said, "Of course not."

The man answered quickly.

Xu Wan, however, had a growing suspicion that he was lying.

But she couldn't find a reason why he was lying.

They had only known each other for a few days, and even if they became husband and wife, they didn't have much of an emotional foundation. He had absolutely no need to do so much for her.

On the way back, the car was unusually quiet.

To break the awkward silence, Xu Wan took the initiative to say, "By the way, Sister Su told me today that her brother is your friend..."

"It's a coincidence, Ziyu was talking to me in my office when she called." Jiang Tingzhou didn't completely trust Su Qiong, so he tentatively asked, "She didn't say anything to you, did she?"

"Sister Su said you are a very nice person."

Xu Wan is not good at lying, so she can only tell the truth.

"Really?" Jiang Tingzhou looked ahead, a smile spreading across his eyes. "I thought she would say I was too old, like an old cow eating young grass."

“No, you’re not that old,” Xu Wan said firmly.

After returning home.

Xu Wan still had work to finish.

As soon as she entered the house, she asked Jiang Tingzhou, "I have to work overtime, can I use the study?"

Jiang Tingzhou said, "No."

Xu Wan was taken aback by the man's direct rejection and was momentarily at a loss. She opened her mouth but didn't know what to say, so she closed it again.

Jiang Tingzhou placed his hand on the top of her head, patted it gently, and said in a gentle tone, "We're married now. This is my home and your home too. Every space and every item in this home belongs to you. You have the right to use and dispose of it."

The man's words were like a summer breeze, instantly dispelling the fog that had just risen in Xu Wan's heart and making everything clear.

The next second, the man took the computer from her hands. "I guessed you might need to use the study. Today, I had my assistant... a friend help me order a desk and chair to be delivered. You can try it out and see if it suits you."

Xu Wan followed Jiang Tingzhou to the study.

Previously, the study was arranged with one wall lined with bookshelves and a desk in the center.

The desk has now been moved to one side, and a similar desk has been placed next to it, but this time it's paired with a white ergonomic chair.

Jiang Tingzhou placed the computer on the new desk.

"Thank you." Xu Wan quickly took out her phone. "How much are these tables and chairs? I'll transfer the money to you."

"No need, it's not much money."

Despite Jiang Tingzhou's repeated refusals, Xu Wan still transferred three thousand yuan to him.

After all, they had a whirlwind marriage, so there was no reason for the other party to keep paying for everything.

Jiang Tingzhou had no choice but to accept it.

Xu Wan was finally at ease to prepare for work. She wanted to take a law book from the bookshelf, but accidentally knocked her small, locked diary down.

"Clatter".

The diary fell to the ground.

Xu Wan quickly bent down to pick up the diary and carefully checked whether the lock on it had been broken.

Jiang Tingzhou saw a note lying on the side, walked over, bent down to pick it up, and casually glanced at its contents.

His expression froze instantly.

A line of words was written in neat handwriting on the small piece of paper—

The purpose of law is to maintain national order. No matter how many hidden reasons are behind a person's murder, murder is murder, and violating the law must bear the consequences. If anyone in this society commits murder and is not punished by law for some reason, then a second and a third person will take advantage of this reason to kill more people.

Xu Wan took the note, looked down at the handwriting, and remained silent for a long time before saying, "I wrote this, but I didn't say these words. The lawyer who represented my mother in court back then told me."

Xu Wan ran her fingers lightly over the note, then looked up and continued, "By the way, this lawyer's name is a bit like yours; his name is Jiang Xuanzhou."
