Chapter 2: You didn't even leave your phone number, how are you going to contact me?

The expected rejection did not materialize.

Xu Wan only heard Jiang Tingzhou say, "Monday at nine o'clock, don't be late."

"ah?"

"What's the problem?"

Xu Wan looked at the man whose expression remained unchanged, fearing he hadn't heard her clearly, and repeated, "Mr. Jiang, my mother is..."

“I know you’re an inmate. If you can’t overcome this psychological barrier, then forget it.”

Jiang Tingzhou changed his tune.

"No, no, I'll be there on time at 9:00 AM on Monday, don't worry! I'll be going now!"

Xu Wan quickly agreed, waved, and walked towards the entrance of the venue, as if afraid that the man would regret it the next second.

Jiang Tingzhou stood there, quietly watching the woman's departing figure. He calculated the time in his mind and sighed softly, "Has so many years already?"

-

Monday morning rush hour is notoriously congested.

To avoid being late, Xu Wan left home at 7:10 a.m., skipping breakfast and heading straight to the subway station. She transferred twice on the crowded subway, which was packed like sardines in a can, and then rode a shared bicycle for two kilometers before finally arriving at the entrance of the Port District Civil Affairs Bureau at 8:20 a.m.

I don't know if it's because today is an unlucky day, but there isn't a single couple getting married at the Civil Affairs Bureau at this hour.

Xu Wan was the first one standing.

At 8:50, Xu Wan saw Jiang Tingzhou.

The man, dressed in a black suit, appeared even more sharp-looking. He quickly spotted Xu Wan in the crowd, strode over, and asked, "Did you bring your household registration booklet?"

"I brought it." Xu Wan took out the file folder from her bag and handed it over with both hands. "And this is the prenuptial agreement. I've already signed it. Mr. Jiang, please take a look. I also brought my laptop. If there are any problems, we can still make changes now."

Xu Wan originally wanted to send the prenuptial agreement to Jiang Tingzhou in advance, but unfortunately the man did not leave her any contact information.

I can only bring it today.

Jiang Tingzhou took the agreement out of the folder and asked first, "Do you have a pen?"

"some."

Xu Wan handed over the pen she had prepared in advance.

She originally thought Jiang Tingzhou would need to look at it for a while, and thought they could switch places with the couples queuing behind them. But to her surprise, the man simply flipped to the last page of the agreement, signed his name in the blank space, put the agreement away, and handed the pen back to Xu Wan.

The whole process took less than a minute.

"Mr. Jiang, don't you need to take another look?" Xu Wan was a little confused.

Jiang Tingzhou looked down at the shocked woman, gently tapped her head with the file folder, and smiled:

“I’ve been in this industry for ten years. If I don’t want to, you won’t get a single penny from me, and you’ll be burdened with huge debts in the divorce. If you’re worried, worry more about yourself.”

It's nine o'clock.

A staff member came to open the lobby door.

Looking at the woman with a helpless expression, Jiang Tingzhou asked her, "Scared? It's not too late to regret it now."

Xu Wan took a bold step forward, stood beside the man, and firmly uttered two words: "I'm not afraid."

The process of obtaining a marriage certificate is very simple, taking less than half an hour from taking photos and a free premarital check-up to receiving the certificate.

After leaving the Civil Affairs Bureau, Xu Wan glanced at the time, stuffed the marriage certificate into her bag, and said to Jiang Tingzhou, "Mr. Jiang, I have to rush back to the company. We'll contact each other later."

Before Jiang Tingzhou could speak, Xu Wan had already left in her high heels.

Jiang Tingzhou watched the girl's figure gradually disappear and shrugged helplessly. "You didn't even leave your phone number. How are you going to contact me?"
