Chapter 230 "I'll be your driver next week."

Jiang Tingzhou already had some guesses in his mind.

The Jiang family is a murky place, and he hasn't told Xu Wan his identity yet, nor does he want her to get involved.

After thinking for a long time, he answered, "Many."

"a lot of?"

“Yes.” Jiang Tingzhou said in a relaxed tone, “You should know that I am, after all, a criminal lawyer. In the cases I handled before, the opponents were often wealthy people with high positions of power or local bullies. That’s why I don’t want you to switch to being a criminal lawyer. I don’t want you to be in danger.”

"I know, and I don't want to change careers either."

Xu Wan knew Jiang Tingzhou's intentions.

She had been in the legal profession for some time and was well aware of the role of the law and the dangers of criminal lawyers.

Not only lawyers, but sometimes even judges who adjudicate cases are threatened with personal safety.

Jiang Tingzhou leaned over and kissed the woman again, then laughed and said, "But since someone has been watching me and reporting on me to you, I also need to report on my upcoming itinerary."

"What?"

“I’ve been busy with Liu Liqiang’s case lately, which is Jinqi’s father’s case. Sometimes I contact Jinqi’s mother, although most of the time my assistant contacts her, but I may also have some contact with her.”

When Xu Wan heard the man report his itinerary, she quickly said, "It's okay, I know it's for your work, you don't need to tell me specifically, I trust you."

“It’s precisely because you trust me that I need to tell you this,” Jiang Tingzhou said, checking the woman’s seatbelt. “I just want you to know that I’m worthy of your trust, and that I won’t let those who want to sow discord between us get away with it.”

The car starts.

As Jiang Tingzhou drove, he said, "Your car has been sent to the repair shop. It will be fixed in at least a week. I'll be your driver next week and pick you up and drop you off every day."

“Okay,” Xu Wan agreed.

-

Jiang Tingzhou was supposed to go on a business trip this week, but because Xu Wan's car broke down, he postponed it and became her full-time driver for a week.

On Friday noon, Xu Wan had just finished her lunch break and started working when she received a call from her grandmother.

Xu Wan has been busy with work lately and a lot of things have happened, so she hasn't called her grandmother recently.

She felt a little guilty when she saw her grandmother calling.

As soon as the call connected, Grandma asked, "Wanwan, have you had lunch yet?"

"I've already eaten, Grandma," Xu Wan replied earnestly.

Grandma breathed a sigh of relief as if a weight had been lifted from her shoulders, and then said, "Wanwan, I've been staying with your aunt recently, and everything is fine. The Mid-Autumn Festival is coming soon, but your aunt is taking the children on a long trip next week, so she wanted to invite you over this week to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival early."

Mid-Autumn Festival.

A festival for family reunion.

Every year on this festival, Xu Wan would specially buy mooncakes to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with her grandmother.

It's been a very, very long time since I've spent a Mid-Autumn Festival with anyone other than the two of us.

"No problem!" Xu Wan readily agreed. "Should I call Jiang Tingzhou?"

"Ask him if he's free; it would be great if he could come."

"Okay, I'll call him and ask."

Xu Wan hung up the phone and immediately called Jiang Tingzhou again.

Jiang Tingzhou postponed some work this week to be Xu Wan's driver. He has to go on a business trip tomorrow and still has some work to do tonight.

Knowing that Xu Wan was going to her aunt's house for a family gathering, she immediately said, "I have work tonight, so I won't go. I'll drive you there in a bit. If you call me after the gathering, I'll come pick you up."

Xu Wan quickly said, "No need, we can just take a taxi back after the party."

"I'll contact you again later."

Jiang Tingzhou was worried about Xu Wan and still wanted to go pick her up.

In the evening, when Xu Wan came out of the law firm after get off work, Jiang Tingzhou's car was already parked on the side of the road.

As soon as she sat in the passenger seat, she saw that the back seat was full of gift boxes.

"This is..." Xu Wan was taken aback by the sheer number of gift boxes.

"A gift." Jiang Tingzhou glanced back at the gift box before looking at Xu Wan and explained, "Today is the first time your family has invited me to their Mid-Autumn Festival dinner. I can't be there in person, but I can't leave out a gift. I had my assistant buy them, though I don't know if your family will like them."
