Chapter 24 "Burning You's Burden"

Jiang Tingzhou pushed the card back and said in a calm voice, "Understood, two business king rooms."

When Jiang Tingzhou travels for business, he always stays in the top-tier suites of hotels.

The top suites in this three-star hotel weren't expensive, but he only booked a business room because he was afraid Xu Wan would become suspicious.

The receptionist, having not made any money, immediately turned sour. After collecting their ID cards and swiping their prepayment, she handed the room key to the two people.

On the elevator.

Xu Wan fiddled with her phone for a bit, then looked up at Jiang Tingzhou and said, "I've transferred the room fee to you. Please check it."

Jiang Tingzhou took out his phone and glanced at it.

There was a transfer of 800 yuan in the chat box.

The man frowned as he looked at his phone. "So many?"

"Actually, I feel like I didn't give enough. You even hired a driver to take me to town. My little bit of money is barely enough to cover the car rental fee."

After Xu Wan finished speaking, she felt that she hadn't given enough.

When she opened WeChat to transfer money again...

The man's large hand covered mine, the warmth of his palm transferring to me. "Are you planning to make me ignore you from now on?"

"without……"

“You could have taken the bus here by yourself. As your husband, I didn’t want to see my wife suffer, so I arranged for a driver to take you here. Now you want to pay me. In that case, I can only ignore everything you do from now on, otherwise my heartache will become a burden for you at any time.”

The elevator has now reached the third floor where the room is located.

Jiang Tingzhou stood in the elevator, showing no intention of taking a step. "We'd better settle this here, otherwise I'm worried... I'll do something unnecessary and burden you."

The man's tone was full of helplessness, but his expression revealed his hurt without any attempt to hide it.

"I'm sorry, but your circumstances are much better than mine, and we had a whirlwind marriage. I cherish this relationship very much, so I don't want you to misunderstand me."

Xu Wan's voice carried a hint of helplessness as she explained.

Jiang Tingzhou, however, was very clear-headed: "Your answer cannot solve the problem."

The elevator doors opened at the appointed time, and after a "beep," they slowly began to close.

The man stood in the elevator, motionless, showing no intention of opening the door.

It wasn't until the elevator doors closed that Xu Wan finally realized what was happening, and she frantically pressed the elevator buttons in fright.

It was as if she was afraid that if she pressed the button too late, the man would really leave.

"Jiang Tingzhou, Jiang Tingzhou."

Xu Wan kept calling the man's name.

Thankfully, when the elevator doors opened and she saw the man still standing inside, Xu Wan's eyes instantly welled up with tears.

Xu Wan took a step forward, reached out and grabbed the man's hand, wanting him to leave the elevator.

"And the answer?"

"You decide, I'll do whatever you say."

As Xu Wan finished speaking, the man gripped her hand even tighter and stepped out of the elevator.

"Don't transfer money to me anymore. I am your husband. You can share anything with me or ask me for help. I will do my best to help you with anything you ask."

The man's voice echoed in the not-so-spacious corridor.

Every word was spoken with resounding force.

Xu Wan just listened, tears falling uncontrollably.

"I'm sorry." Xu Wan wiped away her tears with her other hand.

Jiang Tingzhou pulled her towards the room.

The room for two was just up arm's length away.

He used one of the key cards to book one of the rooms and handed the other key card to Xu Wan.

Xu Wan was about to open the door when she realized that the man was still holding her hand and hadn't let go.

She turned around to speak, but the man's hand reached out and his thumb gently caressed her tear tracks. "Is it a husband's duty to let his wife, whose tears haven't even dried, go back to her room alone?"
