Chapter 390 She's the Only Exception

"husband?"

Xu Wan stood at the door and called out softly.

The man on the sofa seemed not to hear at all; his eyes were closed and his body remained still.

Xu Wan tiptoed over and squatted down next to the sofa. She only breathed a sigh of relief when she heard the man's even breathing.

It was already November, and the weather had turned cold. Although the entire building had central air conditioning, the office wasn't very warm because of a large floor-to-ceiling window.

Xu Wan turned her head to look at the wardrobe next to her, then got up and walked over.

The wardrobe contained several suits, trousers, and overcoats, with accessories such as ties and cufflinks in the drawers below.

Xu Wan casually grabbed a long trench coat, carried it to the sofa, and carefully covered the man with it.

He then bent down and tugged at the edge of his trench coat to prevent it from slipping off.

After the clothes were altered, Xu Wan glanced at the man lying down again.

At that very moment, the man who had just been fast asleep slightly opened his eyes.

Their eyes met, and just as Xu Wan was about to explain, the man murmured "wife" first. The next second, he raised his right hand and grabbed the back of the woman's head, which was so close to his, forcing her to press her face against him.

Their lips met, and the man forcefully probed with the tip of his tongue.

The clothes I had just put on slipped to the ground.

Xu Wan dared not enjoy the kiss at all. She knew they were in Jiang Tingzhou's office, the door was unlocked, and what if someone came in and saw them like this...

However, the man, half-asleep, seemed to have no idea about such things. He quickly became dissatisfied with the kiss and reached out with his left hand to hold the woman's waist, his actions gradually becoming more intimate.

"This won't work."

Startled, Xu Wan quickly pushed the man away, stood up, and took a step back.

As she did that, their teeth clashed.

Jiang Tingzhou looked at the woman, rubbed his eyes, looked around, and then closed his eyes again.

Xu Wan watched for a while, thinking the man had fallen asleep again. She went over and picked up the trench coat from the ground. As she bent down to cover the man with it, her wrist was suddenly grabbed by the man's large hand.

The next second, the man who had just been "sleeping" opened his eyes, his dark eyes looking at her with a hint of grievance and accusation: "You just pushed me away."

Xu Wan glanced in the direction of the door and explained softly, "This is your office, in case someone comes in..."

"If someone wants to come in, they will knock on the door. Just ignore them."

"I just came in because no one responded..."

Seeing the woman bent over in discomfort, Jiang Tingzhou sat up from the sofa, reached out and pulled her to sit on his lap, pinching her delicate chin and saying, "Don't you understand? Here, you are the only exception. No one else has any special privileges."

"If you slept here last night, and everyone knocks before entering, who would be the first to find you sleeping alone in the office?"

Xu Wan believed she had found the blind spot.

“That makes sense.” Jiang Tingzhou smiled slightly. “But when I first saw you, I thought I was dreaming. I didn’t think much of it. I didn’t expect you to be right next to me.”

Xu Wan knew that Jiang Tingzhou had a very punctual biological clock.

Even if the two of them made love late into the night before, the man would always get up early.

He's still sleeping at this hour; he must have fallen asleep this morning.

To avoid disturbing the man's rest, Xu Wan said, "I still have work to do and need to go back to the office. But Mom has prepared dinner for two. If you're free at noon, would you like to have lunch together?"

Jiang Tingzhou nodded, "Okay, I'll have Ning Hang come down to pick you up at noon. Come have lunch here."

"Here?"

"Where to? The cafeteria?"

Xu Wan then realized that they weren't at the law firm, and no one knew about their relationship. Coming upstairs for dinner was the only option.

Only after Xu Wan left the office did Jiang Tingzhou take out his phone.

There were seven or eight incoming calls on my phone.

Three of the calls were made by Xu Wan, one by her father Jiang Detian, and the other three by Su Ziyu.

Jiang Tingzhou didn't return any of the calls. Just as he was about to get up to go to work, Su Ziyu called again.
