On Friday morning, Ji Tong picked up Gong Yanli's suit from the dry cleaners before going to work. When she got off work in the evening, she sent a message to Gong Yanli to confirm that he was at Shenghe Hospital before heading over.
When she parked her car in the parking lot of St. He Hospital, Gong Yanli happened to come out of the outpatient hall.
The man was wearing a thin white coat, and he looked cold.
Ji Tong got out of the car and handed the clothes to Gong Yanli: "Take a look at the clothes and see if they are clean. If you think they are not clean, I will find another place to wash them for you."
She had already transferred the 400,000 yuan the man had given her from her card, and now that she was sure this "part-time job" wasn't a scam, she felt relieved.
Gong Yanli took the clothes over and examined them thoroughly, quite seriously.
After confirming that no one had any problems, Gong Yanli glanced at his watch and asked, "Have you eaten?"
"Not yet." Ji Tong answered, then realized what he meant. Looking at the man's still expressionless face, she asked, "What? Want to treat me to dinner?"
"Yes, thank you for bringing the clothes. I'll treat you to a meal." Gong Yanli paused, then added, "I don't have any money this time since it's not considered asking for your help."
Ji Tong had intended to refuse when the man spoke.
She wanted to maintain a purely financial relationship with him.
Upon hearing this, Ji Tong burst out laughing: "Alright, to avoid you thinking I'm a money-grubber, I'll agree this time." She looked at the man's white coat, "You're not planning to treat me to dinner at the hospital, are you?"
"No, I'm just getting off work. Come back to the office with me so I can change my clothes. We can go together then," Gong Yanli said.
Ji Tong didn't mind and agreed.
Gong Yanli's plan was to take Ji Tong to his office and explain his identity.
He felt that hiding it was not a long-term solution, and given his and Ji Tong's identities, she would never bother him unless he wanted to.
The two walked towards the hospital's administration building.
Just as he reached the door, the phone in Gong Yanli's pocket rang.
After answering the call, he said coldly, "What's up?"
The man's expression changed slightly, though he didn't know what the person on the other end of the phone said, but he still said, "Okay, I'll call an ambulance to your house."
After hanging up the phone, Gong Yanli made a brief phone call, then calmly said to Ji Tong, "Let's go."
The man's pace was noticeably faster than before. Ji Tong, watching from the side, asked, "Dr. Gong, if you have work to do, go ahead and do it. I'm fine."
Gong Yanli looked at Ji Tong and said, "Miao Miao suddenly had an asthma attack at home. I've already sent an ambulance."
Although the man didn't say anything, Ji Tong vaguely felt that Gong Yanli still cared about Miao Miao.
"It seems you and this Miss Miao Miao are quite attached to each other. I think you should face your feelings squarely; some things really can be undone." Ji Tong took a few steps and suddenly said, "You went to such lengths to hire me, not just to spite this Miss Miao Miao, could you?"
"No, it's over between us. I will have nothing to do with her anymore."
As Miyahiko spoke, her pace quickened.
Ji Tong, struggling to keep up, snapped angrily, "If you can't let her go, then hurry up and go! Don't be walking so fast here, I can't keep up with you!"
"Excuse me." Miyanoko stopped in her tracks.
Ji Tong looked at the man's slightly furrowed brows and felt a little annoyed: "Ugh, never mind, I'm going home to eat my mom's cooking. You go ahead and do your work."
After she finished speaking, she turned around and left.
Gong Yanli quickly caught up and explained, "I wasn't planning on going, it's just that Miao Miao's acute asthma is only triggered by honey, and I'm quite familiar with her condition..."
"Dr. Gong, you don't need to explain to me."
Ji Tong stopped and loudly stopped him from speaking.
She was also a little annoyed, and looked at the man, saying, "But I am indeed a little angry. The main reason I'm angry is that you said before that you wanted to cut ties with this ex-girlfriend. I said so many unpleasant things at your friend's wedding, and then she had an asthma attack, and you were more nervous than anyone else. What's the point of this? Am I part of your reconciliation play?"
