When Xu Wan made this last request, she stared intently at Jiang Tingzhou.
She believed their encounter was accidental, and that the man could never have anticipated it.
The man couldn't help but chuckle. "Attorney Xu, have I been too agreeable, or too gentlemanly, that you dared to make such a request?"
"I'm sorry, this is my last request. I'll just take one look. If there are no wounds there, I promise I'll never bother you again, and I promise I'll never appear in front of you again."
Xu Wan's tone was very confident.
She didn't want anything else; she just wanted the truth.
The man had been missing for four years, neither alive nor dead. This was the first time she had met a man who looked so much like him. Her sixth sense told her that this man was Jiang Tingzhou.
She didn't want to give up easily.
The man wasn't wearing a tie, and one button of his shirt was undone, revealing a small V-shape below his neck, through which a sliver of his collarbone could be vaguely seen.
The man raised his arm, his well-defined fingers gripping a button, seemingly about to unbutton it.
He looked at Xu Wan, his dark eyes filled with an inscrutable expression, "I can show you, but I have a condition."
"you say."
"Take off your clothes and sleep with me for one night, then you'll see everything, won't you?"
The man's tone was languid, and although it sounded exactly like Jiang Tingzhou's, it carried a nonchalant air that he had never had before.
Xu Wan was momentarily dazed.
Could it be...?
She really made a mistake.
She knew Jiang Tingzhou; a man wouldn't do that.
The man moved his left hand in front of him, glanced down at the expensive watch on his wrist, and said, "I'll give you one minute to think it over. If you agree, stay; if not, the door is right behind you."
The man kept his head down, seemingly calculating and describing something.
At the same time, remind her with your voice: "Ten seconds have passed."
Xu Wan stared intently at the man in front of her, sensing a sense of unfamiliarity she had never felt before emanating from him.
He is not him!
Can……
"Thirty seconds have passed," the man reminded him.
Xu Wan bit her lip hard, clearly tasting the blood between her teeth, but she couldn't care less about that, her mind was in turmoil.
If he were Jiang Tingzhou, he would have slept with him and that would have been fine.
Can……
What if not?
The man seemed to have guessed her thoughts and looked up to remind her, "Attorney Xu, don't think you can just run away after you've finished reading. I'm a cripple and can't catch you. There are plenty of my bodyguards outside. Unless... you go out this door and die right there, I will definitely find you."
The man's voice was as cold as if it had been chilled to the bone.
Just as Xu Wan was about to say something, he reminded her, "The last ten seconds."
"ten."
"Nine."
"eight."
"seven."
"six."
"No need to count anymore, I refuse!"
When Jiang Tingzhou looked up again, the woman had already reached the door of the room, opened it, and left without looking back.
The door clicked shut.
He then relaxed slightly in his wheelchair, as if a great weight had been lifted from his shoulders.
A few seconds later, looking at the sofa next to him, he used his arms to support himself and laboriously moved his body onto it.
After sitting down, he felt fortunate.
Thankfully, she didn't see me like this.
He leaned back on the sofa and inexplicably thought of Xu Zeqian, thinking that the man seemed not bad, or at least not too bad.
He took out his phone, dialed a number, and said, "Check Xu Zeqian's information for me, everything."
-
After rushing out of the man's presidential suite, Xu Wan headed straight for the elevator.
When I got to the elevator, I remembered the elevator accident earlier, so I chose to take the stairs instead.
She walked down the dimly lit stairwell.
Everything that had just happened in the room replayed in her mind over and over again.
What she feared most was not never seeing Jiang Tingzhou again, but the sudden appearance of a man who looked very much like him, only to be met with the cruel reality that he was not him.
The hope that had just been raised was crushed in one fell swoop!
Soon, Xu Wan reached the 27th floor.
She opened the door and went out. As she walked towards her room, she saw someone standing at the end of the corridor.
"Xu... Attorney Xu?"
Xu Wan was slightly surprised.
Seeing him standing at the stairwell, Xu Zeqian tried to ease the awkwardness by saying, "You came down the stairs? I was scared just now, so I chose to take the stairs."
"What are you doing...?"
"I was worried about you, so I decided to wait here."
Xu Zeqian couldn't come up with any lies, so he simply told the truth.
