Xu Wan stood up from the man's arms, carefully straightened her clothes, touched up her makeup and lipstick, and then pushed the man out of the office.
She pushed Jiang Tingzhou down the corridor, looked at the paintings around them, and asked, "Did you rent this place?"
“I bought it. A year ago, I had everyone here transfer ownership to me,” Jiang Tingzhou said.
The houses in this old town area are all considered cultural relics and cannot be bought, sold, demolished, or rebuilt. However, the owners can transfer ownership, and the price is extremely high.
"You bought it a year ago?"
"Yes, but I used an agency to handle it; I didn't come in person."
Jiang Tingzhou explained earnestly.
When Xu Wan arrived, she was angry and had no interest in looking closely at what was hanging on the wall.
Now that things were out in the open, she felt better and had the leisure to carefully examine the paintings on the wall. She could see that the signatures on the paintings seemed to be works by famous artists.
As she was looking closely, she heard the man ask, "You and Tianyuan resigned, and I ruined your new job. So what are your plans now?"
“…I haven’t decided yet.” Xu Wan sighed. “Although Attorney Yuan said that Tianyuan’s doors are always open to me, I’ve already submitted my resignation, so it wouldn’t be appropriate to go back so soon…”
"Have you ever considered starting your own law firm and becoming a partner?"
Jiang Tingzhou helped her think of a third way.
Xu Wan had considered opening her own law firm, but opening a law firm and being a lawyer are completely different things. Not only does it require attending various social events and maintaining good relationships with different people, but it also requires reliable subordinates and may require frequent business trips.
She was a single mother before, and running her own law firm meant she almost gave up time with her children.
However, Xu Wan didn't say any of that. She just joked, "You need two partners to open a law firm. Who do you think would be suitable for the other person?"
The two then entered the elevator.
Jiang Tingzhou turned his head to look at the woman beside him, "I have a very suitable candidate. He is an excellent lawyer with a high reputation in the industry."
“These kinds of people either have their own law firms or are partners in other law firms,” Xu Wan said. “How many could possibly slip through my net?”
There are many big shots like this in the industry, but each of them has their own law firm or company.
Even if some individuals are free agents, they have no reason to come here at night.
“He…is indeed a fish that slipped through the net,” the man said.
Xu Wan thought about it carefully.
Jiang Tingzhou knew him; he was a highly respected and excellent lawyer, and yet he was one of those who had slipped through the net…
She could only think of one person like that.
She asked tentatively, "Attorney Gao Han?"
Gao Han was the former head of Tianwei's legal team. He helped Xu Wan a lot when she was in court.
After the lawsuit ended, Gao Han went to another city, and the two had no contact.
Jiang Tingzhou shook his head.
The elevator then arrived at the first floor.
Xu Wan pushed the man's wheelchair out of the villa, through the courtyard filled with magnolia trees, and to the car.
The driver came over and placed the board in place, and Xu Wan pushed the man's wheelchair into the car.
She originally wanted to sit in the back row, but the man pulled her over and forced her to sit on his lap. Then he put his arm around her waist, making it impossible for her to escape.
Xu Wan glanced unconsciously at the slowly closing car door and the driver standing outside, her cheeks flushed.
Jiang Tingzhou kissed the woman's lips and asked in a hoarse voice, "Haven't you figured out who it is yet?"
Xu Wan shook her head in confusion, "I have no idea what you've been doing these past few years, or what connections you've secretly made in Beicheng."
The man's lips curved into a smile as he reached out and pinched the woman's delicate chin. "How much further ahead are you thinking?"
"Um?"
Upon hearing these words, a name almost uncontrollably sprang to mind for Xu Wan.
Before she could speak, Jiang Tingzhou said, "This lawyer's name is Jiang Xuanzhou. Do you know him?"
